How To Make THE BEST Ensalada de Nopales | Mexican Cactus Salad | Tostadas de Nopales A La Mexicana

Video Overview & Insights

ensalada de nopales is a spring and summer staple in my family— i hope you try it and love it as much as we do!

Great recipe! i love nopales and I have been trying to re create my mom’s recipe and I think this is the closest to it. Also I think you don’t like cutting the tomatoes because the knife needs just a tad sharpening and cut the tomatoes in 4 and just lay them flat with the skin side down and filet (in a sense) the seeds

Try cutting the tomatoes with a “bread knife” the done with the many spikes, it’s easier.

TO COOK THE NOPALES

8 paddles of nopales (you can use canned or jarred nopales if you really want to skip the cooking process but i’ve never made it like that)

Trust me add a slash of acv and some dried oregano ❤

— @Sssilentlaugh

1 whole onion, quartered

3 garlic cloves

TO MAKE THE SALAD

Love this recipe…❤😊❤❤❤!!! Margarita

— @marged.kranig667

2 cups cooked nopales

1/2 onion, finely chopped

I think wat u really hate is ur knife its like chopping with a stick

— @downtown7235

2 limes (more if needed)

1 serrano pepper

💛Grew up eating it without the lime but now I like it this way the best! ( we can't eat too much spice so we left it out and it still was great!)

— @Monica-cd5hw

3 roma tomatoes

1/2 bunch cilantro

I lost my recipe for this salad! So happy to find yours! Mouth mouth is watering!

Turn the sliced tomatoes with skin side down. It’s easier to slice through the flesh first. 😊

I think it is annoying because your knife is not sharp enough. Change your knife and you will see the difference .

i just want this to be a space where i can fully express myself and confidently be who i am and maybe hopefully that inspires at least one person watching to do the same. idk. i’m on a journey and so i’m sharing it with the world and that’s all. lol hope you come along for the ride. :)

I only had the jarred nopales but jarred is better than none. Thank you for the recipe.

Cut the tomatoes the other way (from the meat side) you’ll see a BIG DIFFERENCE in cutting it!

You have to cut the tomatoes 🍅 on the meat side! Chef Don Julio

I see your knife is dull
Maybe use a small knife or a small steak knife or bread knife

I love the idea of soaking the onions in lime juice!
