7:11 English is sto stupid. "it's identical to the I (writtend E) sound in the word Red"...WTF if you say I (written E in english) then just say Rid, not Red. In italian we don't have these confusing cases. A letter is always the same.
There are few rules to learn (ch, gl, gn and i don't know what else) and then it's like how you read it.
Most difficult thing are the accents (specially of E and O) that can ben different BUT that is for the ultimate level of pronunciation, also because even in Itlay we don't pronounce all words correctly as they should be. It depends on the region you are. Some regions are closer to the vocabulary but none are 100% accurate. Like....in the north they are 75% accurate but it may be tha the remaining 25% is pronounced correctly in other regions (but they mispronounce other words). Edit...The Pesca example is very good. it's the one i use to explain this situation. The only problem is that she pronunces both "pesca" in the same way :D. She only uses open pronunciation like in Foro, Segno and other words where the vowel should be closed

Warning: the native Italian girl in the video has a strong regional accent, meaning that most of the times she's not stressing correctly the differences between è and é, and ò and ó, neither is she pronouncing most of the words containing those vowels in a standard italian accent. This not a big deal, I know, she's perfectly understandable, but being this video focused on the subtleties related to the (standard) Italian pronunciation I feel obliged to point out that the girl's accent cannot be considered reliable

Where is the difference between the open E and the closed E?? This is tipical of northern or southern Italians who mix them up. This is the case of the word Pèsca (open) which means Peach and Pésca (closed) which means fishing

Something comforting for foreigners who want to learn Italian. Very few of us know the difference in pronunciation between pésca (fishing) and pèsca (peach) and the sound is too similar to distinguish it. We understand the meaning only from the context. So don't try too hard on the open or closed "e" and "o", there are much more important things to focus on!

I wouldn't say that the pronunciation of the double consonant is just a "longer sound". They are really two letters. I think a good exercise is the syllable division. Example: pal-la, ros-so, non-na ... try to pronounce them detached and then faster and faster.
These words, with only one consonant, change meaning.

Sono Italiano, ma certi suoni li fa praticamente identici, facendo solo che funzione. Intendo le lettere E - O.

Italian pronunciation is very easy for Russian people if you compare it with English or French pronunciation. Almost all sounds are the same even R. It sounds suspiciously easy. What's the catch?

A lot of things are missing. For example, in Italian there are words that are written in the same way, but have different meanings depending on how you pronounce them. Example: botte means barrel and bòtte means blows. This becomes a bit difficult because accents are usually omitted and you have to adapt to the content of the sentence to choose the right pronunciation.

@ezioauditore1522
@

Attention: the pronunciation of "o" and "e" in the most part of this video is wrong! The girl has a strong regional accent that is not standard. I think, but i'm not 100% sure, that she is from Turin.
