I rarely comment on videos, but this one really touched on my pain points. Despite going to the gym consistently, it has only helped me build a stronger body — my energy levels are still low. Thanks to you, I realized that I should probably focus on building my basic energy and moving more regularly before focusing on strength. Thanks a lot!

Why are you tired all the time? How can you get more energy?

When people talk about fitness, they often focus on building more muscle, losing weight, or looking better. But I’d argue one of the most important benefits of getting fitter is none of those things but rather increasing energy.

Beer

— @ArturMarcinkowski-r9k

Low energy affects countless people and makes it hard for them to get the most out of life. They come home from work feeling tired and just want to crash on the sofa and relax. They don’t have the motivation to do the chores, let alone workout or work on a fun project.

It can be difficult getting up in the morning, for some. And it can have negative impacts on mood, motivation, and more.

Thankyou! I really needed to hear that!

— @michellescott5301

Unfortunately, many people operate under the belief that exercise will make them tireder. Adding exercise into your routine might seem like a sure-fire way to expend more energy and wake up feeling even MORE achy and groggy.

But that’s only if you’re seeing movement and exercise purely as an intensive tool for building muscle or losing weight. If you spend all day being pretty much static and then pulverize yourself at the gym then of course that’s your perception of exercise.

This video explains how to combat constant tiredness and increase energy levels (0:01). The creator argues that what most people perceive as "tiredness" is actually lethargy, caused by a lack of activity rather than too much activity (0:50-1:03). When you spend most of your day inactive, your body conserves energy, leading to stiffness and a "rest and digest" neurochemical state (1:49).

The key to boosting energy is to move more throughout the day (2:21):

Incorporate small movements: This can be as simple as bouncing on the balls of your feet for a minute (3:23) or stretching when you feel low energy (3:38).
Integrate movement into your routine: Take the stairs, walk instead of taking the bus, or even dance while doing chores (4:12). This helps your body avoid the jarring transition from inactivity to intense exercise (2:45).
Reframe your mindset around exercise: Instead of viewing exercise as an "all or nothing" affair that will exhaust you, approach it with the mindset of doing light movement first. If you feel like doing more, you can, but even basic stretches are valuable (5:00).
Regular gentle movement helps re-regulate mitochondrial activity and makes all other types of movement easier (6:00).
Additional tips for increasing energy:

Avoid eating so much in one go that you feel sluggish (8:43).
Keep lights brighter until you're ready to sleep (8:49).
Don't rely on caffeine to force yourself awake (8:52).
Spend more time outdoors (8:57).
Do regular cardio to train your energy systems (9:04).
Listen to your body and allow for rest when truly tired (9:12).
If lethargy persists, consult a doctor to rule out underlying conditions (9:21).
The video highlights jump rope as a great way to start incorporating regular movement, as it's fun, portable, and uses the whole body (7:11). The creator recommends Crossrope jump ropes (7:30).

But, actually, exercise can and SHOULD be invigorating. Regular movement should help boost your energy levels and help you feel healthier throughout the day. It should support everything you do.

It starts by moving more when you’re NOT training. Watch the video to find out how this will ensure you're not tired all the time - and how you can begin implementing more strategies.

Enjoy!

Started running every work day on dinner breaks since summer, feeling so much better now energywise. Now I need to get back into stretching XD it feels harder the older you get.

Great point. I often only move or exercise at the gym. I go at least 5 times a week but outside of the gym I hardly move and I physically get puffed out.
I will take action and do HIIT everyday in the morning to get my blood pumping and regularly do the movements you mentioned at home

used to workout for years, suddenly i stopped and only maintained muscle by being active in my daily life and just maintained less than i used to have. I feel tired even watching this video, but never tired enough to sleep. Working on fixing that

Movement and mindset is key! Thanks for the reminder. I've been feeling "off" for some days, and it's most probably because of being too hyper focused on work and not being balanced enough. Thanks again for this content, it's got me being aware again.

Dude your videos are so good. So many important topics for training and lifestyle.

As someone that feels absolutely drained after working in the office all day, I've been finding it so hard to switch back into training after having to use my brain all day.

What gets me is that I have an active job, nothing crazy, I am a stocker at a grocery store and I am always lifting objects like milk jugs, and walking nearly non-stop. It sounds tiring, but I know I’ve got energy to workout because I’ve worked harder jobs and still hit the gym. Nowadays I get home and crash out. I thought my job would make me more energetic since I’m basically doing cardio all day, yet I can’t hardly get myself in the gym. I want the energy to do my job and hit the gym when I’m done. Maybe it’s a motivation thing but I’m sick of feeling lethargic all the time and want to hit the gym like I did back in my teen age years.

Thanks for the great content. Ive been recovering from a b vitamin deficiency, and while its going great its a real mental struggle to fully climb out of that hole. Actually legitimately feeling tired is a pattern of expectation thats been etched super strong in my brain. I know I can do so much more now that ive overcome that deficiency, but the low mental expectations and negative associations with fatigue are hard to fully overcome. Ive just been knocked out of my good habits after a week of throat infection... but this was a useful reminder to get back on the horse and keep moving, and keep rewiring my brain.

ok so several of those worked fine for me, however when i tried your advice to walk to work, however it took 17 hours to get there, and 17 hours to get back, was tired afterwards :( any tips for that?

@nilsandersson4983
@

I tried what you’re suggesting, and it does give you the appearance of having more energy.

But then the burnout just built and builds and gets worse and gets worse and it’s coming inevitably and the more you hold it off the worse it’s gonna be

I don’t know if you’ve ever literally been trapped in a chair, screaming at yourself to get up off the chair and do something, but I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy

Thank you so much for this.
I needed this, I have slowly over two years of going back to an office job slipped into a lethargic state.

Pushing myself to postpone my sleep because I need some kick to get 'that better feeling' playing video games or watching videos.

But I realize now that my low energy levels are also caused by little movement and stretching.
I only use the stairs and most of my travel, I do by car.

So for me, I will get back onto my bike and start driving it to my local gym. I don't need to get a subscription right away, just see how my body reacts.

Your physique is sick man. I'm 36 and wanting to get back into shape like my early 20s where i looked like you. I need some guidance because I tend to dive in max intensity lol

Do you use TRT? I don't have a desire to but you look natty so i was curious. No judgement if so.

Anyways love your channel man you gave a unique holistic pholosophical approach to fitness and I really dig it. Cheers!

Also works with going for a walk.

And this is the main problem pople struggle with mondays : they don't do anything on sundays ! So starting over the next day on monday is so much harder. If you're doing anything every day like walking, jumping rope, gym, climbing, cycling, walking stairs etc you wont have to restart ever.
