One further golden tip. Check prices on online pawn shops (especially gold) They are usually dear to start but rarely update prices when huge rises happen. Ive got a few under spot before they twigged H and T - they are a terrible company for customer service but worth a look.

@KevinSmith-vi4om

Junk silver definitely. Ive picked up a lovely collection from ebay. Got to be careful though. I started because of price rises on new.

Waste of time stacking silver in the U.K. Do what I do. Buy half a dozen gold sovereigns every month.

@AnthonyWilliams-ew3wp

You fail to mention CGT. Bar uk coinage all these coins and bars you show will carry a capital gains tax and people do not realise that is also on UK bars as they are not CGT free either. It's not easy to find at reasonable prices anymore but second hand silver uk coinage is the only way you can go in the uk

Did you drop the completer bar? 😂 I always prefered coins but I also changed my strategy and started buying bars. Where did you buy the buffalo silver rounds? Are they sold in the UK?

@AustrianStacker
@

Yes silver is an industrial metal but more importantly a monetary metal. If you live in the UK, there is no point in buying 'junk silver', you are completely missing the point of having a lower denomination coin that can be traded in a 'grid down' scenario. If you are in the UK, legal tender coins are capital gains exempt, so it doesn't make sense to stack non-British coins in the UK.

@danloosmore8099
@

Just buy from abroad, buying in the UK is crazy. Picking up a load state side is best.

@scottyleics

Cant bring myself to buy silver anymore, bought loads years ago when it was low but with the tax its basically worthless as an investment now, would need to at least double in value to get any kind of worthwhile profit after paying the taxes, now trading some of my stash for tax free gold coins, only need a relatively small price increase to get a profit 👍

@hamoostaffat
@

£25-/+ spot, last week I took delivery of x5 Completer Bars (1ounce) from the Royal Mint. £44 each. Mad. Take that £44 multiply against the exchange rate for US$ & we’re already above $50+^

Don't see the point in the UK.

23% VAT here in Poland since Jan 1. I will never pay that. When the old stuff is gone, I'll go peer to peer or switch to fractional gold. But couldn't justify two grand for a Sigma. Nice vid.

Great informative video! Really good points made about strategy when buying silver. 🤝👌🏼

@StackingwithCraven

In the UK, Capital Gains Tax applies to gold and silver unless it is legal tender. It must be a coin with a value on it, eg. Britannia's, Sovereigns and some other legal tender coins minted by the Royal Mint (eg. Queen's beasts, etc.). Bars of gold or silver and foreign coins (Maples, Kangaroos, Eagles, Krugerands, etc.) ARE subject to CGT.

You can thank me later, but the best source currently IMO is facebook groups, ive bought a lot off there recently - mostly cheaper than chards/atkinsons, but do your research on who to buy off, I have 2 dealers that I trust so far, and they do good deals and are quick to send on.

Nasty ol' ding in the Queens Beast. Nice though.

@SilverBullet337

You completely missed medals, tea pots, cutlery, scrap jewelry. Don't be obsessed with coins and bullion. Get to the auction, people leave a bunch of stuff and the family liquidates everything through local auctions.
This approach is for those that want weight. I understand that liquidating these items might be a challenge, but you will find a buyer and a little silver trinket box or a goblet is a nice addition to a display.
