There's now a SAP system that's put into place to prevent you from dropping classes frequently. ONLY DROP A CLASS AS AN ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT! IF YOUVE DROPPED VS ATTENDED <67% OF YOUR CLASSES YOU'LL LOSE YOUR FINANCIAL AID REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR GPA IS!! Keeping your GPA above a 3.5 doesn't really matter unless you're transferring or doing internships, however you are required to maintain at least a 2.0 in order to graduate. It's not high school anyore. Grades aren't everything. If you're failing a class and it's still early in the semester:

See what your school offers in terms of coaching/tutoring and use those resources effectively. Admit that you aren't the smartest person in the world and get your ass over there to learn from someone more intelligent than you.

Study more. Set a daily time to study preferably outside your dorm room. I use my campus library.

Eat healthier. A healthy body is a healthy mind. Try to focus on more natural sugars and protiens.

Avoid high amounts of caffeine. These have short term benefits but the long term harm reduces the value of these paraphernalia.

Go to SI meetings. Don't flirt with your SI either. The amount of times I've seen people try to be smooth with their RAs, TAs, or their SIs is more pathetic. Stop, you don't come off as smooth, you come off as really strange and desperate.

Cheat. If youre gonna do it at least do it responsibly and learn from the detailed guides these services give you.

If all else fails, drop the class. Seriously though if you have all these resources and you're still failing, it's entirely on you. Use your resources more effectively next time.

Most of you likely won't read this which is fine but I'll tell you how I survived college as an introvert and having social anxiety. I didn't go to a super big college/university I just went to a community college to become a veterinary assistant.

1. I see a lot of people saying that you have to be super outgoing and have lots of friends and all that. Sure that will help you out a lot but in my opinion, you don't. What I did, if I had a group assignment to do I would just email my group members. My college has this whole online system and you can interact with people online and for the most part that's how I communicated with my teachers and my classmates. While everyone was talking to each other I was just chilling in the corner not saying much. For studying and note-taking, I was perfectly fine with doing them myself.

2. I would suggest you still get the books because they will be useful at some point. I see people saying don't get the books because it's a waste but it really depends on the class and the teacher. Some classes will require it more than others for example, in my wildlife class we had to use these 2 animal identification books to identify animal tracks, poop, or the animal itself and we had a whole assignment to do using those books. So I would say just get the books and if you use them then you use them and if you don't then you don't.

3. When you get assignments or homework do it as quickly as possible. I saw someone comment that and I couldn't agree more. I ended up having so much free time because I did them all as soon as I got them.

4. Aim to do SOMETHING every day even if it's just a few minutes. We all have those days where we don't want to do anything but trust me, just do something every day. That was honestly my number 1 rule was just aim to do something every day.

5. You don't have to study for hours and hours a day. What you want to do is study smart. Study in short bursts at high focus for 20-30 minutes. Use Q cards and extra blank diagrams to help with labeling on tests. I had to label some dog and cat anatomy and having a blank diagram that I printed off helped me.

6. Attend all of your classes. One of my teachers only posted half of the PowerPoint slides online so we had to go to class to get the rest of it. If you miss classes you'll be screwing yourself out of getting good or important information.

7. Don't hesitate to ask for help. My teachers were all easy to deal with except for 1 anyway. The other ones would have no problem helping you online or after class is over.

8. I see a lot of people talking in the comments that the teachers don't teach you and you have to teach yourself. In some classes, yes that is the case. Some classes are only theory classes so you just go to class and get the notes then when it's assignment time you gotta use that info to do the assignment. The classes where they actually teach, are the classes where it's hands-on. I had to learn animal restraints and wrapping surgical packs and all that and my teachers were there actually teaching us this. We all did it together and they would go around the room to make sure you got it and if you didn't then they would show. So it really depends on the class.

9. When taking tests and if you don't know the answer don't spend super long on that question. Just skip it and go back to it later. I had 35 minutes to do a 70 multiple-choice question test. If you really stopped for a good 5 minutes because you didn't know the answer, that timer was still going down and you're wasting time so go back to it later.

10. Have a schedule. What I mean is have days where you're like "Alright when I get up Saturday I'm gonna work on this and then that and take notes early for this class then that's it for the day" Have scheduled days and times that you work on things. Monday do this, Tuesday do that, etc but if you really don't feel like doing anything go back to my rule of trying to do something even if it's just 5 minutes.

11. Group assignments will always be terrible for everyone so I would suggest just starting them yourself and just saying to the group "This is what I got so far", I got screwed out of a super high grade twice because my groups were both lazy and I always got paired with the people that wanted to do nothing until the last minute then decide "eh we all have an 80 or higher we can take a 0" then our grades drop.

Anyway, that's it. I likely won't come back to check if anyone replied so if you comment anything mean I more than likely won't see it. I hope this helps some of you that are going to college or are in college.

I’m thankful I had good professors… except for one. Orientation in my freshman year. He took it so seriously, gave us a quiz on the second day about the syllabus without notice and was an actual grade, made us do a 10 page project report, deleted all online notes a week before the final exam without telling us. I really considered dropping it. I somehow finished with a C…. It was a class about how to be a college student and it was my hardest class in all of my 4 year. I finished with honors.

I'm from England so college is a bit different but i have decided to drop out of it.
For me, college was overwhelming, stressful and i got heavily bullied there by nearly everyone. It was horrendous. I had a terrible teacher for fine arts too. College is good but it isn't for everyone and it wasn't for me.

No when the drop deadline is for the course and if you don’t feel like you can pass the course just drop it

College is GREAT, but seriously be careful with mental health freshman year, it comes at you fast and will overwhelm you more than once, make sure you get put of your dorm/room even just to go sit in a study room. Changing your scenery can change your attitude and mindset considerably.

I'm still on my first year of highschool and i'm afraid that all college gonna give me is a low bank account and rotting my corpse instead of my soul like HS. Is it really worth it to learn 5 years more and pay that much money just to learn 90% of the shit yourself?
