I know ilI'm late to the discussion. But am an older beginner guitarist and just finished up about 9 months of lessons. I just got a little multitrack recorder and now understand what my teacher was saying with this concept. So my tag to this is if you can't play with another person you need to record yourself somehow and play along. It will make sense.

@BullBear-d3hwhat i like to do is do pauses in between verse lines but chorus lines have less pauses so the chorus hits harder or jumps out more

As music is about learning and learning from each other can be sexy. In the pauses, in the spaces you got to control what you've done to them and vice "verse"a. See you around!
