What's interesting is that since I have Symetry OCD (need to feel like everything is "even"), but can eat things off the floor without distress, I want to say, OMG, just pick it up! Like, you would think my mind would be so willing to understand his Germ OCD

People without OCD will never understand. It’s not just “wear gloves”. In our minds, even if you wear gloves, you touch something and then those gloves are now contaminated and you can’t touch anything else without now contaminating that as well. Yes it’s stupid, but our brains won’t let us believe otherwise.

@wanderintensilyPlease check out this young man! He was a student at university of miami ohio. In 2024 he was suicidal due to the affects of OCD. He got help, and wrote on entire symphony that was performed by the University of Miami of Ohio that was amazing!! The symphony is on the university website spring concert 2025. I was at that performance. He talked briefly about the disease before the concert, it was heart breaking 💔 The symphony piece he wrote is awesome, you can hear the build up of pain then the calming . I cried watching it. I don't have any connection or experience with OCD but I told him after the performance that people need to hear his music and his story. Thank you ❤

Except I dont use my shirt to open doors but use tissue when touching handles, buttons etc... also carry around spray bottles of 70% alcohol to dissenfectant areas In public and in my home.

@karlaclay-alexander453Wow...how awful and difficult it must be to live with that constant fear and anxiety. He's done so well to have achieved what he has, with that disorder plaguing his every waking moment. I think we ALL have our mental illnesses to cope with, but that disorder is next level stress and fear to endure. And then on top of that, having to deal with the shame of even having this disorder, that's entirely beyond your control. Thankfully society is a lot more accepting of mental health issues these days.

@ChristopherMario-z8tI used to have ocd when i was a child. I would wash my hands till they cracked and bled . I wouldnt drink after myself . I would drink from a cup then wipe the rim . I grew out of it thank god
