No mechanic will suggest extending oil changes and all recommend OEM drain intervals.. I used Amsoil before and it does not meet their claims. Low viscosity 0W30 had elevated LEAD from bearing wear and switching to the SAE-30/10W30 Diesel Oil had lower wear metals in the same vehicle. Oil Testing Results from basic off the shelf oils had similar results w/o spending extra money on BS Marketing by DECEPTION.

I’ve used Castrol edge extended, and it made my car feel super smooth It was also during the summertime and I drive my car like crazy every day 60 to 90 miles a day sometimes stuck in traffic. And that oil hold its own and did a good job. It’s hard for me to believe that this oil doesn’t perform well in summertime when it’s specifically meant for performance. And seems very hard to believe that it doesn’t perform well with wear and tear because it seems like all the specifications and all the requirements it meets and other reviewers say it’s an amazing oil. Sometimes it depends on the vehicle itself and with oil darkening quicker at time sometimes doesn’t always mean that the oil is bad or that it was dirty quickly, sometimes that tells you that it’s cleaning out or doing what the other oil previously didn’t do

I drive a 2014 3.3L Kia Sorento with 327,000 miles. Bought new. Mostly around town miles. 50K was uber miles. I use Valvoline regularly oil or high mileage red/black when DIY. Now here is the secret…. Change your oil MORE often. Contamination is contamination regardless of the oil. Less expensive oil more often.

I have been using Mobil 1 full synthetic on my 5.7 gen 3 hemi and had no problems at all at 200k miles. At 2005k miles I had a timing chain problem so I decided to over haul my engine and the entire engine was unbelievably clean. I still use the same oil today

The way you do your final report, it seems you ran five cars concurrently with the different oils.
If not this test means nothing. You needed five separate but same model cars doing very similar operational conditions to even make an objective test result.

The most objective real world comparative oil tests should be done on fleets like taxis or delivery vehicles. They all have to be same model, same year and do the same journey profiles. One has to swap drivers at predetermined intervals. One also has to include a reasonable number of vehicles for each oil brand to get a reasonable average in testing conditions

I visited the Castrol laboratories in Pangbourne UK in 2009 and was immensely impressed with their professional setup. I’m sure the other labs are just as impressive.
