Just got back from India and we were blown away. Just loved it! If you have the cash, stay at the Oberoi hotels or the Taj hotels. They are so over the top amazing with simply crazy service. It really made our trip remarkable. Aside from hotels, the cost to go to India is peanuts when you compare travel the Europe. The only downside to India is the TRAFFIC which is hell on Earth and the incredible trash that seems to be cultural. We went to the Taj Mahal (of course) and we saw empty trash cans with trash laying all around them. The noise and air pollution is really bothersome but if you can get past that then travel to India is a must for the seasoned world traveler.

Can you elaborate more on flying to India with a drone? Im planning a trip in January with a DJI mini. I was not planning on having a checked bag and only a carry on bag. Would it be be best to have a checked bag to put the drone in? Will there be any issues with a checked bag or carry on bag with a drone packed in flying in or out of the country?

Tips for travellers to have richer experience of India
1. To avoid getting harassed wear modest clothes in public places.
2. Learn to say NO firmly if approached by strangers. And if you are being stalked, ask people in the crowd, if there is no police, for help. They will definitely ensure no harm to you as most Indians want tourists to have a wonderful experience.
3. Should you need local assistance about places to visit, dining, travel etc make sure you approach the right people. Most well mannered Indians often dress quite formally. Should there be no women around, look for men with kids or well groomed persons wearing polished leather shoes.
4. Begging is an organised racket being run at places popular with tourists, like Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Jaipur... If you read stories of beggars, you'l find many of them are multimillionaires. So don't pity them, be they small children or women with infants in their arms.
5. The so-called Golden Triangle (Delhi, A, Jaipur) is much to blame for poor experir of many tourists. Just ignore taxi or autc tuk) drivers. Even responding with a NO to them will make them pester you even more. Opt for online cab/auto services or take public transport.
6. India has more fascinating monuments than Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Amer Fort in central and southern parts of the country. Plus the country has diversity in landscape and wildlife that is hard to match anywhere else. Diversity in culture can make any tourist feel he has visited not one but a score of Countries

My travel guide to India
Sorry to say this as an Indian but Golden Triangle is too overrated. Besides it is likely to bring bad experience as well.
The Golden Triangle was promoted by erstwhile governments because of the proximity of Agra and Jaipur to Delhi, where most international flights land.
Not any more. There are better places with good connectivity and hospitality infrastructure.
I recommend Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaisalmer over Jaipur.
There are wonderful places in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Udaipur.
Uttar Pradesh is not a state I'd recommend unless a tourist is willing to stand the filth of Varanasi!
India offers the diversity in culture, foid and landscape that is perhaps matchless in the world, from braches to plateaus to mountains to forests...the list is too long
Last but not least for me India is a veritable paradise for wildlife lovers.

I think its normal to visit the local rundown areas and even slums. If i stay in the areas with Starbucks and high end shopping malls i could aswell stay home.

My partner and I (South African) will be travelling to India soon and can't wait. However, I am a little concerned my bank cards might not work, I have heard stories of this mysteriously happening to other people. (They are Mastercard affiliated and my bank knows we will be travelling, but still.) I tried (PayTM) but it seems you need an Indian bank account? Does Apple Wallet work?

Want to help us stay on the road? We'll be incredibly grateful and love you forever! :)

I took a lot of ideas for my trip to India in this video. Thanks you for that.

We enjoyed the food, the people are as nice as in my country. In many things remembers me my country, and that was nice.

In another hand, I feel that this video romanticise the trip to a poor country. For me, it was awful to see the children on the street without shoes and hungry in Jaipur. It was so hard, that we paid to change the flight and come back earlier.

I'm from a poor country, I saw poverty before, but not at this level. It breaks my heart. Probably the problem is me, maybe I'm too sensitive.

About Bali. I have also been there but people really don’t know Bali also has risks. Even tho its famous and a tourist hub.
Especially the food. We had multiple cases where we had a infection because the food wasn’t washed proper.
Major tip if you want something with vegetables or green produce. Let them wash the food with bottled water. I know its stupid and a waste but its better for your stomach that way, also Bali is famous for the monkey forest but he they still can bite you allong with dogs.
Also the people traffic especially the mopets and motorcycles traffic in Ubud and Denpasar is horrible. Almost no sidewalks and busy places.
Also Bali’s famous landmarks are always fully crowded. I had a time at pura Lempuyang or heavens gate which is a famous instagram or fotospot with the gate and vulcano. Let me say this. We had to stand 6 hours in line for that. IM NOT JOKING. 6 hours for a picture.
What is funny is that on the other side of the gate is nobody. Only a photographer with a small mirror for the same shot.

The Golden Triangle is fine, I mean most tourists go to that. But India is not only the Golden Triangle. There are so many other places to see. I would suggest Mumbai, Bangalore, and if you like cooler places, go to the hill stations like Shimla, Kulu-Manali, Dharamshala, McCluskiegunj, Leh, Darjeeling, Gangtok, La Chung, Kalimpong, Tawang, Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet. If you are interested in spirituality, Hardwar, Rishikesh, Varanasi, Mathura, Vrindavan, Ayodhya, then there are temple towns in the South. If you're into beaches, go to Goa, Gokarna in Karnataka, Cochin, Lakshadweep, Andamans. I would also recommend a house boat stay in Alleppey in Kerala and on the Dal Lake in Kashmir. If you are interested in wildlife, there's Corbett National Park, Kanha, Ranthambore, Kaziranga, Manas, Dudhwa. If you're into trekking, there are many options. Contact your travel agent. I would also recommend the desert ambience with camel rides in Jaisalmer and Bikaner.
As for tipping in India. There are no rules, no compulsion. No Indian tips. So if you don't want to, just brush them off. These people will try to get something out of you, seeing you are a foreigner. But if you don't want to tip, be firm and say no. Just stck to the price agreed to by you in the beginning.
Chandi Chowk is really not a place for foreigners. It is crowded, dirty, and full of scammers and pickpockets. It was built 400 years ago when the entire area of old Delhi (Chandni Chowk, Jumma Masjid, Red Fort) constituted the Mughal city of Shahjahanabad. Old Delhi hasn't changed very much since those times. Amber Fort is a beautiful fort. Please don't tell your viewers not to see it. Tell them to get a government licensed guide and there should be no problem. I agree with you about the scams in the tourist spots, especially if you are a foreigner. Just be firm with them. Refuse any help from them.
Wishing you all a very good experience in your stay in India. Stay away from sea food unless you dine at a 5 star hotel or restaurant. Then you'll be safe.
And visit India again because India being such a big and diverse country, once is not enough.

Good planning for traveling to India. You couldn't get the Paytm app because probably you did not know how to do it. I would recommend you contacting your travel agent or some knowledgeable locals to help you. In India Paytm could be of great help.
