The U.S. military has launched two nights of retaliatory airstrikes targeting approximately 90 sites inside Iran, including runways and missile launchers. Iran continues to maintain a defiant stance against Western military intervention, with its parliament speaker announcing that the Strait of Hormuz will only operate under direct Iranian arrangement rather than American threats. The escalating situation coincided with the conclusion of a six-day funeral procession for the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in his hometown of Mashhad, which transformed into a large public demonstration against the U.S. and its diplomatic agreements. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spent the afternoon initiating calls to regional counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, and Turkey to cultivate regional diplomatic support.
