Iron Lung - Wow, It's Actually Good!

"Don't know, just go w/ it" I had no context w/ this IP but it's how I watched this movie and absolutely loved it. Like you say: is it perfect? no. But wow for $4M this is impressive.

This movie is trash. There is no plot or character development whatsoever. If you are not familiar with the game you will be lost. To make matters worse, over 35 % of the dialog is unintelligible. The best I can gather is that a cosmic entity has somehow destroyed planets and moons and converted into spheres of blood. Somehow, a small group of surviving humans will attempt to destroy this creature. Yes, the humans believe they can kill a destroyer of P L A N E T S !!! The only reason the host of this channel supports this movie is because a fellow Youtuber put it together and it is an independent film. Outside of some creepy elements and the ridiculous amount of blood used, there is nothing impressive here. If wasting 2 hours of your life getting frustrated and being confused is what you consider entertainment, than go ahead and watch it. 🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌

This would have been good as a 30-45 minute short film. As a 2 hour full length film, it's absolutely terrible.

This is how I know your opinions are pretty much pick'um and chose'um bullshit. It wasn't that good dude. I'll give them the grace of building suspense on a budget and having a solid lead actor, that's it. First off, it was WAY too long. Second, there's a fine line between not treating your audience like idiots and not explaining enough. It left way too much unexplained in terms of backlore for anyone unfamiliar with the game. Third, it played out EXACTLY like a B tier pay to play video game, especially with the ham-fisted communications systems. At BEST, this is on the level of a low production value, mid tier A24, Blumhouse or Shudder horror movie. I didn't hate it, but It would have been mostly forgettable if it wasn't for the brain breaking, over-the-top extended torture of the protagonist at the end. 5 out of 10.

Might be a hot take, but cosmic horror kinda sucks. Honestly I think the only reason why it's interesting at all is the people who break down the events and creatures outside of the actual stories. I mean almost every movie about an cosmic horror thing is terrible. Everyone talks about crappy horror tropes in movies, well "cosmic horror" has to have some of the worst ones out there.

-Oh the main creature is usually never shown or explained
-The main character will have random episodes of insanity
-Unexplained jumps in time
-Hearing voices
-Has to do a thing to save humanity
-Flashbacks to early parts of their life
-The main character always has some form of prior trauma

These are just a few to list, but Iron Lung hit all of them. Again it's not a bad movie, but it's not a great movie either. It's a movie that will be easily forgettable, because nothing is really set up, explained, or concluded. The thing happens, and then it's over. There is nothing memorable in this movie. The only stand out thing it has going for it, is that it was made by a Youtuber. That's it. And when that's the only memorable thing about your movie, that's kinda telling.

I hope if Mark tackles other projects in the future, I hope he hammers out more of a plot. Would love to see him make a movie about the SCP universe. Like maybe he's a prisoner in the facility trying to escape when all heck breaks loose.

Is this supposed to be a proper movie? Because it felt and looked cheaper than some down the shelf direct to video VHS in 1986. I guess popular Youtubers just support each other. I'd watch the moon nazis movie again.

Girlfriend and I watched Iron Lung the other day when we found out it was on YouTube. Honestly it was great. It was incredible how it was 2 hours in one single set yet still gripping. The risks paid off and it was fresh. I really hope Mark does more, he’s got talent to pull off something like that.

An interesting premise turgidly executed to the level of a tedious student project with a sliver of a budget. This movie was awful but props to him for trying.

What i didn't like is that the ending just made zero sense and it didn't need to be 2 hours long. But still a lot better than i was afraid it would be. Especially some of the SFX work at the end!

Boring, nothing happens. Impossible to understand without reserching outside of the movie.... nothing is explained... Overhyped, bad executed.

I just watched it. It was f-ing intense, though it is very interpretive and symbolic, as in the end it raises more questions than it answers. I loved it.

This movie is the kind of shit I still have hopes up for movies and entertainment.

Mark and the Group payed massive Homage to the Game for sure, and I am glad, he didn't want to waiver away from the Game and he and his group nailed it.

First 30 minutes were a slog, but overall a nice surprise, better than much of the big-budget slop we get

You know Hollywood's gone downhill when a YouTuber whose most popular video is him doing stupid voiceovers for cats from over a decade ago makes a better movie than most other directors have in 5 years.

Mark himself has said many times puplicly that budget was never an issue. He even built his own render farm so he was fully capable of building a massive world, he just thought it would betray the true feeling of the original game.

No doubt Hollywood will do a reboot/reimagine of this film in the near future, throw $200m into the budget pan, hire 20 hipster writers and director, add a few headline A listers, change the original story completely so as to include The Message every 5 minutes, and then watch it tank at the box office. Yeah its got great production values, but its 40 minutes too long, which for a movie like this is death. The middle section is excruciating.

Wasn’t for me. Almost fell asleep during the first hour. Had to fast forward to the last 20-30 minutes. Could have of gone without spending time on this.

I FINALLY watched this movie. I tell ya, I'm not a claustrophobic person. But man I was getting that feeling a few times.

Also this movie is my kind of jam. This is psychological horror. I like when a movie distorts and fucks with you, and makes you question the reality of the movie.

Strong performance? Lol Drinker got paid for this. This movie was so boring and so long.
