Does high mileage oil stop oil leaks? Is it safe to use in your engine? Does it offer better or worse wear protection? Let’s find out by comparing Mobil 1’s full synthetic vs Mobil 1’s “high mileage” full synthetic and SuperTech's full synthetic vs SuperTech's “high mileage” full synthetic motor oil. Should do another video to compare the same products now compared to how they performed about 3 years ago. I am mainly interested to see if super tech still has the same quality after raising the prices by almost $6 to the gallon

So my question is… why not use high mileage on a fresh car as well if it reduces wear?

Thank you for such a thorough review. I’ve been using super tech HM. might switch to mobile 1HM, but changing it every 5k seems to be the best

This is only my experience. I switched my 05 Colorado i5 3.5l to high mileage oil at 85,000 and I developed an intermittent lifter tick that is still present at 125k. Now this could’ve been a fluke but it would be awfully coincidental. Shrug. I’ve since switched back a Mobil 1 full syn and have flushed the engine numerous times and tried different weights to no avail.

Please test if small engine motor oil is really needed in small gas engines or can less expensive automobile oil work just as well

My local Auto Zone owner went to get my oil and filter and lucas oil treatment. I had told him I wanted Mobile One Synthetiic. He brought the Mobile 1 high milage. I said I wanted the full synthetic. He said this was it.
Anyway I didn't want to embarrass him in front of his employee so I bought what he brought.
Who knew, he was right. Thanks for straightening me out. I was wrong before I saw this.
Castrol?
@ScorpioSin777When I'm looking at a product that is new to me I always check Project Farm first to see if it's there. Thanks PF!
@hlcorickI've used both and while the supertech is very similar when I use mobil one my oil stays full in between changes. With supertech I have to add a quart at about 30% oil life left
@nbowling10trioYou are a national treasure
High mileage oil in my opinion is advertising bs
How about wear testing when the oils are at 250* f like in a running engine ?
@hotrodray6802Where high mileage oils really shine is conditioning your gaskets and seals.
@MrMomoRunnerThanks, great test
@dmytroshliakhtychenko5237Is there any chance you could test the best 75w140 gear oil?
@robertthewolfmanI just measured the amount of motor oil in my box of Havoline ProDS Lifelong High Mileage Full Synthetic. The box says 6 quarts, but it contained 6.75 quarts. Another fellow (posted on Youtube) says his box of Havoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend contained 7 quarts.
Havoline is excellent oil for an excellent price at Walmart. The Lifelong is especially excellent. I just put Lifelong 5w30 in my Buick. In future I will be also put it in my mom's Prius and my neighbors' Honda CRV and Hyundai Elantra.
You can't trust the (inaccurate) measuring marks on the box. Pour it into a measuring container (such as an empty 5 quart oil jug of some other brand). Then you'll put the correct amount in your car and know how much Havoline oil you really got for your money.
Chevron (owner of Havoline) is generous with consumers and makes good oil, especially the Lifelong. Chevron is an American owned and operated company. Valvoline is Saudi owned. Pennzoil, Quaker State, and Castrol are owned by the British and/or Dutch. I don't know who owns Mobil.
Hi: I don't want to jinx myself, but I have a 2013 Honda Accord with 250k. I change the oil every 15k to 20k miles. I have been using the Mobil with Dexos, but I just switch the the high mileage Mobile. I also use the 20k filter...(I had to switch to the Mobile because Fram was not available.) I really think the 5k oil change mantra is a long term hoax however I would love to know what your tests show. I would like to learn more. BTW, how important is Dexos. Note: The Mobile Extended is now labeled new.
@robo7981Is there any reason I shouldn't run high mileage in a vehicle that isn't over 75K miles yet? I have a F-150 V8 that tows. It has 24k on it. Should I run high mileage?
@Random_DIYTest prolube
@mitchthemaniacthe third oil just goes to sleep lol
barely flowing at any time.
Just love your demonstration on oil products
@Jeffproof4892Great video it would be a cool to see how if 10000 mile oil filters and 10000 oils still hold up to their claims after 10000 miles.
@Woo-7073I have a bunch of Mobil One High Mileage, but it's not Dexos approved so I did the initial change in my 2025 GMC Canyon with Redline Pro Series 5W-30, which IS Dexos 1/2/3 approved, but I may go ahead and use the Mobil One next change. I need to use it.
@sinepari9160i will never use supertech again, evaporates.
@nathanrector5584Could you do another high mileage comparison with Pennzoil , Castrol ,Valvoline and Amsoil.
@Mr-Keyesi put high millage and my crank seal started to leak , it sofen the seals ans that can cause leaks
@francoischevrier5335Is there any reason not to use the high mileage from the beginning? Except the warranty requirement?
@CleverName-v3oI want a world where we can have oil races we can all bet on in bars
@DXVIdesignsWhere is the High Mileage Ozzie's Coffee? lol.
@Targendy1Pretty sure this is how 7-11 makes their coffee.
@pood_49I think the cold Mobile1 was air locked when poured.
@sapaloboIf you're using AT-205, is high mileage needed or redundant?
@LucasBrownEyesThank you very much for the years of great tests. This is another one that I will be using to help me make a choice for my 190K oil change for this "new to me" Mark LT. All the best to you and your family!
@christeadt656I use valvoline premium full synthetic extended protection high mileage with maxlife technology 5w30 in my 2017 f150 5.0. Great oil. Have a 103k on it.
@jew0182I use SuperTech 5w30 syn High Mile on my oil burner cars until the oil burning slows down. It's cheap at $5 a quart. Cleans the rings and sludge after about 4 oil changes over the years. I'm not going to spend $12-15 a quart on Group IV or V oil if I have to add a quart every week
@antri-m4lJust get a good oil and change it at 3000 to 5000 miles based on your driving habits and call it a day
@jonbulau5963The Dexos label on the oil jug is simply a licensing agreement with GM. If the oil company doesn't pay GM for the license to label the oil container, they can't use the Dexos designation. It has nothing to do with oil quality.
@oby-1607Whenever he says "we're gonna test that!" I always get hype 😂😂😂
@Maverick82402This video was brought to you by SUPER TECH 😂
@juniorramirez9030Cual es el precio
@santiagodelacruz5403Great👌🏼
@ArsamTorabi-zi9heKnowing how companies employ cost reduction and ingredient substitution based on market forces over time, it would be interesting to see the lab test comparisons on all four oils used in this project after 3 years since the last test.
@jordannash1998The concept of high mileage oil is to provide more cushion protection for worn bearings. Mobile One now comes in Standard, Advanced Fuel (all start with Ow), and High Mileage, with all claiming 10,000 mile protection. Meanwhile, the newer Extended Performance-High Mileage version has 20,000 mile protection. Since we never go over 5,000 miles between oil changes and not much difference in cost, I am wondering if the Extended Performance-High Mileage version is the best? I am not certain there is a filter that is rated at 20,000 miles, but for self, that is a moot point.
@doortek5348Good job
@luciensenor9589Literally changed my oil (mobile 1 HM) and watched this video afterwards had me scared from the start
@wollywop227810:08 "With that being said, 6.7 is a pretty good number" 🤔🤔🤔
