Schon wegen des Essens könnte ich nicht in den USA leben. Wir waren in NY für ein paar Tage vor Jahren und die Skyline von Manhattan wwar beeindruckend...für 2 Tage. Danach suchten meine Augen verzweifelt nach etwas Grün. Zum Glück assen wir nur in sehr guten Restaurants. Das Zeug aus euren Supermärkten hätte ich nicht runtergekriegt. Also willkommen in Europa! Mögen alle "brainwashed" US Bürger die Gelegenheit haben, für 2 qochen Europa zu besuchen. Würde vielleicht ihr Weltbild zurechtrücken.

Everyone who has done business with a Spanish company is going to understand these words perfectly.
The Netherlands is more developed than Spain overall, but keep in mind that it is a much smaller and more compact country. It's not more developed than Madrid, Barcelona, Vitoria or San Sebastián. We Spaniards are not african, dumb, ignorant or lazy, that's just postcards for tourists. If you took away Andalusia, Canary Islands and Extremadura from Spain, it would have a per capita income similar to that of the Netherlands. Something similar happens in Italy: if you think the Netherlands are more developed than Milan or Portofino, you're wrong. Everyone who visits somewhere other than southern Spain is surprised because they come across a country that's much more prosperous than they expected, and that's for a reason. The same thing happens the other way around: when we travel through Western Europe, we often feel disappointed because we expected to find it more developed than us, and that's not the case. Small European countries find it much easier to have good macroeconomic indicators because they don't create territorial imbalances.
We Spaniards receive a lot of immigration, and we don't emigrate, that's also for a reason. If the other 'more developed' countries had something to offer us, we would be there. We're from the EU, we can work wherever we want.
By the way, the only time a train left me stranded in the middle of nowhere was in the Netherlands, not in Spain.

Some EU countries have homeless prorgams which spend the money needed to control the situation to give homeless people a home! And every time this is tried the net cost is lower to fight homelessness situation than to fight the homeless people.
They recover get a job and suddenly can afford their own home.

And spain was known 30 years ago to be a pothole hell.
But all of Europe got their act together and fix the infrastructure. The US did not,because that costs money.
Countries get fined by the EU if i.e. wastewater treatment is not up to code. So it gets fixed.

There are two immense countries, with diverse and abundant natural resources, and where the average level of education is far above that of underdeveloped countries: the USA and Russia.

Therefore, this proves that both societies, US and Russian, have major structural flaws that prevent them from being the parts of the world where the majority live best.Whether deliberately or through incompetence (or both?), the social classes that hold political and/or economic power necessarily bear a major responsibility for these dysfunctions. Not 100% of individuals, but statistically, on average.

European cities are much older and were already walkable.
Gasoline is cheaper in the USA while Car ownership is a lot more expensive in Europe.
Land is cheaper.

I was in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria and couldn't believe how clean it was compared to the U.S. I have been to Europe several times in the past few years and am still stunned by the cleanliness compared to home. I enjoyed Valencia, too. The lower costs in the grocery stores blew me away.

I always say - America is like a adolescent in terms of how mature a country is. Europe and its countries are here for ages already - America is a very young country still figuring out how to become a big mature country. They think they are on top of the world - like adolescents also think - but in fact they still have to learn a lot. Especially how to become a true leader with respect - you guys lead but don't earn any respect on the way and that is a shame.

I was born here and its mostly used in two ways. Either in a more general saying kinda way, as in "just act rational when interacting in public because everyone is crazy in their own way".
But when used in a conversation, most of the times its in a negative way. Like when someone is overreacting to a situation and you are trying to challenge them. As in "can you please act normal now, because thats crazy enough for you"

America needs public transport culture and to rid of overconsumption, this is number 1 aim.

I am 56 and lived in many countries around Europe and Asia. I see connection between country going down and people believing that their country is the best in the world.

I am European (Swiss) and what I love about the USA is the people. The Americans. They are much less boring than Europeans and usually very respectful at the same time. It is easy to do get in touch with other people in the USA. Every day can be an adventure in the US because of that. I love that and that's why I love the USA. Europeans are much more introverted. I hate that.

To me the people are more important than infrastructure etc.

The US is a third world country. A shithole that's is somewhat nice for the top 1%. If you are a regular working guy, you live in a shithole where you basically have no basic rights.

Europe is the best place in the world for living: history,food,traditions,culture,quality... All is better than other place.
