If a male prison staff had sex with a female prisoner he would likely get charged with a sex crime as it would be presumed a female prisoner couldn't give fair consent.

Unless you have experienced prisoner psychology, you have no idea just how incredibly manipulative they can be. Combine that with female prison staff who are naive and/or starved of male attention, and the result is inevitable. Likewise, manipulative female prisoners who flirt and even flash male prison officers who find the temptation of easy sex irresistible. The equality law was written by classic leftist idealists.

No, there is no place for women POs in male prisons. Its really obvious.. Numbers of sexual encounters have come about because of increased numbers of women officers being in the prison... The service is employing unsuitable people and people who are too young. Its not rocket science.

Honestly I really can't relate to how sanctimonious and condemning people are about this. People are locked up for years- do you really care if once in a blue moon one out of 10,000 of them gets a shag? The officers too should get just a stern warning if it happens once, then sacked if twice. We've got such a culture of firing people for trifling things in the UK, it inevitably leads to just rushing to fill the vacancy with someone less qualified and wasting the experience built by the person being fired, who had the audacity to be an imperfect human

There should be no female prison officers in male prisons and vice versa. It's a no-brainer.

Prisoners are not located in these places so that they can be in a place that reflects society. They are being separated and punished because they cannot be trusted in normal society.

35 years of service in the criminal justice system including service as a prison officer. This has been going on for decades. You put a group of straight women into a testosterone fuelled, predominantly male environment, you don't have to be an evolutionary psychologist to predict what would happen. Almost all female prison and police officers are in relationships with male colleagues. Several go on to take things further with prisoners. Classic case of seduction by the "bad boy". You need a particularly high calibre woman with, dare I say it, masculine traits to be a prison officer in a male jail. Not girly girls with long nails and fake eyelashes...

I have managed homeless shelters in the past and have had to fire numerous women for inappropriate relationships with homeless people.

The real reason the prison service can't recruit is the old guard wardens work for prisoners so don't give a stuff about the salary so new wardens end up doing loads of shifts as daves sciatica is playing up ....whilst in Costa Rica 5 star ..it's broken and labour will not fix it they are clueless

Separate sex prisons, changing rooms, etc are there to prevent this kind of KNOWN problem.

Surprise surprise, another example of something glaringly obvious that everyone intuitively knows turning out to be self evident. Women should obviously not be CO’s in men’s prisons for a myriad of reasons, the suggestion that they should be doesn’t pass the pub test and has failed in practise. Similarly men should not be CO’s in women’s prisons for extremely obvious and potentially consequential reasons. Why do we keep doing mad things and continue to be surprised by the outcomes?

It’s getting caught has increased. The push to get female prisoners is just good old fashioned radical feminism.
