James Veitch | More adventures in replying to spam | Больше приключений , в ответах на спам.

Video Overview & Insights

James Veitch has spent years doing the tireless, thankless work of replying to spam emailers so you don’t have to. He returns to TED to tell the tale of yet another spam email adventure, this time with a vital lesson attached: How to annoy your way off any spammer’s mailing list.

I find it funny that they are so against the free toaster in the emails. Knowing they won't be sending anything anyway, if they think it's make or break they could have said. "Ah yes, open an account, deposit the money and we'll send a toaster."

I once told a scammer that I couldn't wire transfer my money, and that I needed a physical address to mail a certified check. They provided an address in New York City. I thought I had just cracked the DaVinci Code or something! I sent it to law enforcement, expecting a SWAT team to immediately swarm this international scam network and send them all away. Instead they told me to stop wasting in their time. Oh well.

I wonder if the scammer had an epiphany...? 😂

To be very careful about James was the best piece of advice the scammer received.
