Law School? Are you sure?
Video Overview & Insights
I have been asked a lot of law school-related questions:
I love this channel, it's so informative, this and Legal Eagle are the best on YouTube
- did you always know you wanted to go to law school?
- what majors help prepare you for law school?
Each article of the constitution and the Mike madigan case.
- where did you apply?
- how did you do on the LSAT?
Rafi, that jerk attorney in Arizona is giving you a bad name. That guy was super rude and arrogant towards me and my staff ("do you know who I am?" Literally came out of his mouth) about 7 years ago at the UPS store in Arcadia (Phoenix/Scottsdale). Every time I see your videos i remember that guy.
- why did you choose the University of Georgia?
... and a ton of others.
Anyone else have no audio.
Well, sit back and relax, as I answer these are more.
Excellent content: you have a great personality, too.

@KidZelWHAT WAS YOUR SCORE!!! So annoying how Law students / lawyers don’t want to disclose their score. I got a 162 not afraid to say it!
@nomadthegreatI just watched the Outdoor boys commencement speech and he also mention the 08 crash holy cow.
@ZobbtunaThat grass is offensive... Needs a visit from the Lawn Care Nut....
@CharlesSnyderWhew! Memories 😢😅 But God! 🎉
@tawshismsgive us the number. georgia is not top 20.
@brickbrickfacefaceThank you for making this video. Here after being laid off and wondering if I should go to law school after all, like people have always told me. It's always seemed too daunting; I never believed I could do it (and worried I would regret it if I found that court, etc wasn't for me, having crippling social anxiety). I didn't fully realize until recently how many other directions I could go aside from being a trial lawyer... Those possibilities have brought back the spark, and this video definitely helped decide how to proceed. 🙌 I'll keep looking into it. Thanks again 💞
@hansolohansoloDude. 2008? I finished law school right after 9/11. Finding ANY job was a struggle.
@qdllcMy 2 cents. Spend 6-12 months working at a law firm seeing what the daily grind is like before going to law school. Know what you’re actually getting into before wasting time and money only to be unhappy.
@qdllcI’m a UGA alumni lol go dawgs
@9doggie12You're adorable! I'm sure everyone fell in love with you.
@jimw-p8lMy last LSAT score?
Lmfao. I never go back to pick up my results, I'm tired of the excellent scores and being intelligent or correct meaning absolutely nothing in any feild particularly law and court, some fucking how.
you re better at long form than shorts
@iasonmax3473bro is mike from suits
@webber7217Your mention of UGA reminds me. My daughter went to Emory and got a great education. (I also really enjoyed visiting Atlanta.) Then she went to Franklin Pierce Law Center, a small school in New Hampshire which has since been subsumed into the UNH system which specialized in patent law.
She's done really well as a patent attorney for the past 20 years.
As a side note, when I was in college in Illinois in the 1970s, I played in a rock band. The keyboard player ended up as a PhD phychologist on the Georgia State faculty. He and his wife run a B&B. Whenever I visited Atlanta, I stayed at their place.
If you're not wealthy (and your parents aren't, either): don't go to the highest-ranked school which accepts you--go to the highest-ranked school which gives you a full-ride scholarship. That's what I did, and it allowed me so many more options when it came to what I wanted to do after law school (especially helpful since I graduated into the worst legal market since the Great Depression).
@lelandunruh7896The guys at LSAT Demon say that law schools don’t care. They just take the high score.
@aguy559LSAT is never mentioned after L . school orientation
@G.Harley.DavidsonI want to be a lawyer but I’m only in middle school yet I’m determined to be a lawyer is their anything I could do to prep almost besides getting good grades
@Sancho-limbus-companyyIf i had studied for the LSAT like I studied for the Bar Exam.....
@SquareFootageFraudLawyerI'm a current 3L. Overall, I've actually loved it. I enjoy reading and studying the law. I'm very thankful for my law school experience❤
@LaineBurglass23I did mock trial during my undergrad. I loved it.
LSAT prep is a ripoff, there is no damn way that anyone can do anything but survive the lsat. Or I guess people can cheat, I guess thousands of people cheat according to the news. What sucks is taking a test thats graded on a curve where you know thousands cheat on it keeping you from getting a good score. Only 5 got a 180 and the 165 scores only got 2 wrong. That means that you cannot do well no matter what if you dont cheat. I refuse to cheat and took my lsat in person with a Proctor standing over me the whole time, literally staring a hole in the back of my head. She actually stopped me during the test to ask me if I meant to skip a question. Really.
I worked as a summer clerk for a personal injury firm for a bit. Couldn’t shake the ambulance chasing vibes I got from the place and it’s left a bad taste in my mouth for the work.
@joshuaridgway3230I knew he wasn't going to tell us the score...
@rocketrollsvlogs7625Aspiring lawyers NEED to watch this video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Legitimate content.
@G6FB_247As someone who doesn't have the grades to go to law school this peaked my interest lol
@heckincat1406Great advice! Thanks 😊
@ambarimunoz9424Thank you
@michaelesther8515I graduated in August of 2009 with a B A in Political Science. I never went to law school but I have thought about it.
@geoffreycope1219Hey Mike, kinda late on this video. Have you ever heard of Cops becoming prosecutors lawyers after retirement. Thinking of trying to get my law degree and trying that when I retire

I have come across excess legal students who transferred to law school's well above their prospects when initially applying to law school. If you are passionate about the field/legal study, and have proper qualifications, do not let your LSAT score deter you. There are many students with legal experience, 3.7-4.0 GPA's, who unequivocally want to be attorney's, but doubt themselves due to scoring a 151 on their LSAT. Those students typically transfer UP after their first year.
@G6FB_247I had an interest in the study of a legal education, teaching and academia (PHD). My interest in law was not necessarily in the practice of law. My goal was to use the degree in another field. American history/law while growing up in Philadelphia was captivating. I was fascinated by SC dissents around 14.
Regarding which majors would prepare you for law school, it's tough to say. There's numerous avenues/majors students use for law school. Go into a major that yields flexibility for other careers, and/or you are passionate about. Consider law school experience at your local courts/DA.
Preparing for the LSAT, I prefer prospective students study for the LSAT for 3-4 months intensively. I used 7Sage. Blueprint is good. The key is consistency practicing LSAT problems. Timed testing conditions as you advance. The testing conditions crush people. I prefer students score at least a 156. Undoubtedly well above a 150. I was shocked law school's accepted students with scores in the 140's. Those colleges need to close. There's too many law school's anyway.
Consider locations where you might be interested in practicing, and the absolute best cots/deal possible. Sometimes a "lower ranked/tier" option for significantly less money (or free!) is more beneficial than a higher rated opportunity for significantly more money. I'm immense on owing the least amount possible.
I have so much respect for you. I hope I can become half the man you are
@timeguy6112"Legal market," u mean the crime rate 😂
@augustingervasio3269what do you mean by miss bubbling? like you circled it when you should've coloured in the correct answer or something?
@freddieevans4906I was very lucky. My LSAT score was not great (the logic games did me in) but I got into law school and actually managed to get on the Dean’s list about every other term. I started law school just three months shy of my 50th birthday and got first legal job as a public defender after passing the Colorado bar with a great score. I stayed in that job for over 13 years and retired in the fall of 2020. It was the best thing that I ever could’ve done in my whole life as my work was extremely gratifying and demanding. (I defended children accused of crimes for nearly my whole career there). Now I do some part time legal work in the civil realm and I am enjoying it immensely.
@wallihaley5194Nice watch!
@BlueBossa89I'm doing a mock trial of whether or not Captain Edward John Smith is guilty of negligent manslaughter when the titanic sank and I am the head prosecutor. Any advice? (Yes, dead people can and are being called to stand)
@amberlyon2534I don't have any money, but I want to find my way there
@ExLovePuppet777Man that feeling you mention at the end? The best!
@AttorneyDamonat 3:01 it's funny that's the Blender Guru chair that he used. I know bc I've made it myself 😂
@atharvakulkarni4445Love this guy! I almost wish I lived in Atlanta just to be friends with him. Almost. The humidity is making me sweat just thinking about it, though. So... That won't happen. Hmmm. Hey, Mike - want to move to the SF Bay Area? Our traffic is just as awesome as Atlanta's but we have NO humidity whatsoever! And less bugs - just sayin'. It's win-win-win.
@MamaMailishaIts cool to hear about your origin story. I'm a Software Developer in Chicago. I work for a company based in Atlanta. Last year I was invited to a developer conference in downtown Atlanta through my work. It was the first time for me to visit Atlanta. I had a good time and the conference had alot of great information. My knowledge of the world got a bit larger than before.
