I feel like some people would have thought of Ford and Kubrick as arrogant or difficult as they would maybe be seen as having disregard for others feelings maybe or worries but it was also just their process and style and it also worked extremely well for both. They ran a tight ship and were hardcore about certain rules and doing things their way.

Thumbnail has a spelling error

Riduculous jump cuts - the editor confusing himelf with being a director and even actor. In the end, the actor should be framed well enough and acting convincingly enough to convey the gravity of the situation. - Directors are losing the art of composition. For example - no wonder we couldn't tell what is going on with the Tina Fey scene, her ear was more framed than her expression. Directing needs to improve. All of the tenets of how to compose a shot have been known for a hundred years. Editors just need to clear the chaffe and stay out of the way.
Caveat - kudos to those editors who do have to overcompensate for reels of mush.

Thanks for this video. Yes, I have learned a lot about making films by watching a ton of YouTube videos. I’ve written a 24 page script for a short film and have almost got a cast and crew together to shoot it. All from just watching YouTube videos like yours, over the last three months! I love the editing side of things the most. Learning about the art of the cut is what I am most interested in. I can’t wait to get stuck in to post production and turn my vision into a reality!

I wonder what editors today think of editing back in the day. Is it all bad? Like Sergio Leone. I get that his voice is old fashioned now, but is it as beautiful to editors as I see it?

great video. Thanks alot. in my opinion, and obviously is still suck at edditig, it is super important, tat you do fast prototyping. Push it. Then let it be good. Unse the gained knowledge for the next project. I wish i had even more time to do Film projects and people to do them with. becaus all alone, there is hardly any chance on camera movement. Thanks agian. I'd love to see more and aplie it to my YT-"work"
