Captain forgot the first rule of any emergency in the air. Fly the damn plane. It seems way too many airline pilots lose their stick and rudder skills over time by always relying on autopilot for the vast majority of their seat time. If they ever had any to begin with. This is China we’re talking about. Something tells me competence and skill have never been the CCP’s top priorities in who gets chosen for prestigious jobs like 747 pilot.

China airlines,as featured in your videos seems to be kinda dodgy

When other aircrafts lost all engines - managed to slowly glide the plane down. When China airline lost one out of four engines - free fall from the sky.

"boeing says they still want the crew too ve full control"... because its too expensive and we dont know how yo engineer such automatic safer plane.

@FH-ot3wo

how xp crew can make mistakes, by flying a plane that is designed for profit and not security.

@FH-ot3wo

sure its pilot fault, totaly not the loosy design of boeing...

Besides everything that may have taken place due to human error, it led to the correct conclusions, and they are, no matter what 100% heroes saved everyone.

It's so sad that so many passengers had to suffer through that torment because the captain forgot he was supposed to fly the plane.

June2026: So..., after years of training to rely on instruments in clouds, these pilots panicked and relied on their inner ear. They believed only what they felt.
Not only that, they didn't know how their plane actually operated on autopilot. No understanding of mechanicals.
These pilots failed the most basic test and were flying thru life on autopilot! How about refresher courses?
1st 3 rules are: fly-the-plane, fly-the-plane, fly-the plane.

These are great but PLEASE use the units of measurements that airplanes use. I get the rivalry and maybe this isn't American made, but kilometers and meters appear nowhere in air travel.

this is a great episode, you know, when ACI used to be great without DEI BS. This episode however, the plane depicted is B747-300, but the original plane in this incident was a B747SP or the Baby Jumbo - We miss ACI like they used to be when they made episodes like this one.

Data recorders survive planes being obliterated and under thoudands of feet of salt water but this flight recorder broke when the plane didnt even crash?

@lolpagedied
@

"So what," I'm sorry but if I noticed that a light - that is SUPPOSED TO BE ON - wasn't on a wing, I'd be worried not saying "so what" as if it didn't matter.

Also, that ATC was annoying; constantly repeating his traffic. If he doesn't get a response, that should've been a bloody CLUE that something was wrong.

The problem was the captain of a communist airline is like an Emperor. He made bad calls and led them to almost death. They don't question the captain, period

@Mark-sp6vq

Another exaggerated load of bullsh*t. ALL pilots are taught spin recovery on instruments. This cr*p about unable to do it without visual reference is just that = cr*p.

@Pwrwe

Professional Deformation
Normalcy bias by these bureaucrats and loyal company men underlies the near disasters in every one of these episodes that I've recently watched. And every one of the film consultants is always ready to serve up the cliched final assessment: All's well that ends well.
