I like the nightlights point, and there are some that are motion activated that will only turn on when there's movement nearby, in case you don't want lights on all the time.
Also, if you can, get a large dog. Even just the presence of the dog will deter many people who may consider doing harm to you. And having a furry companion will help you feel less lonely too.

The best thing you can do is have a large dog. Criminals will pass you by in a second if you have a large dog. Your crossfit, BJJ and baseball bat won't help you for a second vs a large male attempting to do you harm. So instead of the cute Yorkiepoo that fits in your purse get a big dog. Even a taser won't likely won't help if the attacker has baggy clothes. Pepper spray if sprayed inside is going to get you as badly as him.

Another tip for when your home is being serviced: be on the phone with a male. Whether that’s a boyfriend, your dad, uncle, etc. They’ll know that another person can hear is what is going on

Be careful if you are getting something to protect yourself because it might be used against you. For example if you have a metal bat please make sure you KNOW how to use it due to the chilling fact that they could grab it from you and use it to hurt you.

Im just gonna be honest living alone is a constant battle against predatory types. There are sooooo many single (for a reason) men in this neighborhood but its what I can afford. But everyone knows I'm alone here. Guys dont think or care how we have to think about safety constantly

Haven't done this, but when I start living alone I will buy some men's work clothes and on washing days drench them and hang them up with my washing so it looks like a man lives there. I will rotate them so it looks realistic

You have some great tips on here. I'm a 44 year old guy, my place got broken into 8 years ago and my current apartment has had some issues with people as it's ground floor and I have PTSD. I thank you for giving people information to help them to try and feel safe . It's not easy.

One of the maintence workers who came over to do maintence at my apartment asked "will your dog bite?" And im like yeah she doesnt like men and she will bite if I let her off the leash. Like why was he asking? Just fix what your here for? I already have her on a leash away from you. I felt like he was trying to figure out if shes dangerous in case he ever wanted to come back. Maintenence workers have keys to all the apartments!

Alone time with him and being more sensitive to his voice is what’s come from it. I’m in it now and it hurts but I know I will be better on the other side.

Lock your bedroom door at night as well before you go to sleep.

i’m a nineteen year old girl living alone in an apartment and this helps a lot and even comfort me as well. truly it’s a wonderful experience and you learn how to be independent. the environment is safe but it’s really safe to be aware. I’m not really familiar with my neighbours but there is this one house that I am REALLY aware of because they’re all men. They looked like they are not really friendly because I saw them once from my window yelling at the driver. And that’s I became more wary. I would wait for them to head inside their home then I’ll only go out for grocery or the mall. I have the hotlines ready and the doors locked and plan to install some cctv and even a whistle incase some creeps would follow me.

Never take candy offered by maintenance men 😳🙄 sounds like a no brainer...but he offered it (and an excuse to bring more over later; smh unbelievable), seww, I reported him by e-mail to the complex. Doing it to me I knew he was doing it to more gullible girls. I next changed my locks, because it felt like damage possibly happened on purpose, to cause him to have to come over; I suspected he may be coming in when I was gone. 🤨😒 I had a next door neighbor try 3 times to trick me into opening my door at night (9:30-10 & later): (1) related to his lost postal package (2) drunk and couldnt find his front door, yelling "help me..." and (3) a supposed blood sugar attack & needing help. I called the police once and another neighbor did the 2nd time. I Finallly caught up with him during the day light hours, and gave him an ear-full, "Look, Im not your Mom. It is not my responsibility to keep track of your deliveries! That's why they have package tracking for! Also, you will be dead before I ever open my door to you anytime, let alone after dark. His reponse? "Well, I saw your light on, and thought you were home." 👀 ??? Lesson: You never know what stupid trick someone is going to use to get access to you. I have too many varied stories (sadly enough), as am sure you all do. Smh. Why isnt this type of thing talked about more, and men (or women) sent to counseling? Therapy is super helpful. Highly Recommend. Along with a 12-guage shot gun.

I love these types of videos regarding women's safety, so I have to say a huge thank you for making this one which I think is brilliant!

I used to be afraid of walking home alone at night before I started to take self-defense classes, and I'd like to share some tips that I've leaned from my classes so far with all of your female viewers, which I hope can be of some help. I've recently been taking Krav-Maga for women classes for self-defense, and so far I've learned that the best best self-defense targets on a mans body for women (and girls) to attack, and the best ways of striking them are as follows:


- the eyes (finger poke them)
- the nose (palm heel strike upwards)
- the throat (chopping like actions)
- the testicles (knee / kick / punch / slap / grab-twist-pull and hold on to them tightly until he collapses and passes out within a matter of seconds)
- the knees (sideways kick to dislocate)

We always remember "eyes, nose, throat, testicles, knees" or "eyes, nose, throat, balls, knees"


I've also been taught that even a trained, determined teenage girl could easily take down a man if she goes for these targets, especially if she goes fast and hard for the eyes or the testicles (or "high balls" and "low balls" as I've also heard them called!)

One very powerful technique I also learned is that if a man has removed his trousers and he is about to rape you, then his testicles will now be extremely vulnerable to the "grab, twist, pull and hold" counterattack. You should snatch his balls and keep squeezing and pulling them as hard as you can until he passes out in under 8 seconds - and I've been taught that he will , no matter how big and strong he is. You can even use both hands, and it's still just as effective even if you only manage to get hold of one testicle.

Apparently, when a man has his testicles forcefully squeezed it causes him to curl over, collapse, convulse and quickly lose all of his strength before he collapses and passes out or goes into shock in under 8 seconds. Most importantly this holds true no matter how big and strong he is - a wonderful natural advantage we females have in combat over men. Surely this is something we should all be made aware of and we should all be taught how to do it!

I really wish that more women and girls were made aware of effective ways to fight back - in particular I wish they were made more aware of this "ball grab and hold" technique. From what I've read and been taught it has literally saved many women throughout the world. The women of Somalia even have a name for this move and they call it "Qworegoys". Mothers teach their daughters to reach under their attackers tunic and grab, twist, and pull his testicles until he passes out, and to also tuck their head in until the point he loses consciousness in case he initially starts to fight back.

We, as women, really can fight back effectively, stay safe, and lessen our fears if we know how and where to strike on an attackers body and most importantly, learn how to "fight dirty" ❤
