Erotica mentioned and showed.
Madonna's modern ode to the dance floor is very admirable.

This album is much more personal than Confession 1 album. There are some very personal songs on this album taking about her brother, her stepmother and daughter. There were no personal songs on Confession 1 album taking.

MADONNA - CONFESSIONS II / 2026 / WARNER / DANCE-POP, HOUSE
7/10
You dont get the intro
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
I think in many ways, you fundamentally misunderstood what this album is. I'm sure you get fans every video telling you why you're wrong because you didn't rate the album as they'd like, but this is different. You hit the nail on the head with the idea of togetherness, escapism, etc; but to say tracks like I Feel So Free are "odd" or tracks like Good For the Soul have "flat" production show that you are missing the trance-like, corporeal style behind the entire album. You failed to mention that in Danceteria, the track isn't just namedropping other famous acts at the time, but reminiscing on the peers of which her career comes from; many of whom have since passed or died from AIDS around that time. This theme is then extended to family on Fragile and Betrayal. These "confessions" take the form of somebody who has been around; extending her experience of love and loss, and using the dancefloor as a throughline for it all. You say you wish the album was less "heady" and "heavy", but that is what makes this album so special.
With this stuff in mind, Confessions II really only exists as a sequel thematically. Other than the dancefloor motif and confessional structure, Madonna is working with a new perspective. Functionally, it might as well not even be a sequel. Considering Madonna's career, previous production styles, and 2026 pop trends, it's out of touch to call this album flat, odd, heady, or to assimilate it as just a callback to her previous work!
More User Perspectives
Much prefer Loreen's Wildfire. More original. And much more creative musically. Madonna is "this is all about me" every time. Loreen's Wildfire is "Here's an experience".
@twistedelegance_Most cringe part of the album- I DONâT FUCK WITH IT!!!!!! đđđ
@TwelvefourtysevenLady Gaga built her own Touch
@JILLValentine-r8c8oMeanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo gets an 8âŠ
@NelsonAlbarrĂĄnScolaI canât believe you didnât even mention Bizarre with Martin Garrix.
@LightningSword13Daddy, the album is called CONFESSIONS II. You didnât think the lyrical themes would be deep and heavy?
@remingtongravesthe weekndâs female artist, Chxrry, dropped her debut album. can you please review it?
@dro_itachiTL;DR, sharing my appreciation for Madonna.
I've only listened to "I Feel So Free" so far and haven't watched the review yet, but I wanted to release my thoughts on Madonna I wish I could've expressed earlier. My male Zoomer self has played a lot of feminine cards from the deck of music over the years - Aaliyah, Beyonce, Britney, Ciara, Ellie Goulding, Fiona Apple, Imogen Heap, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, TLC, Xtina, and so on. Yet somehow, Madonna seldom crossed the lines on my palms. Outside of Holiday, a favorite of my childhood, La Isla Bonita which I've also cherished as a kid, and of course 4 Minutes, I never really paid that much attention to her. I learned aspects of herstory through a Time magazine 20-year retrospective my father bought before I was old enough to walk. Cultural references like that Family Guy scene parodying Ray of Light, and that Malcolm in the Middle episode where this Vegas singer covered Papa Don't Preach, were also how I knew of her. Yet for whatever reason she didn't take hold of my attention. Wild as it seems to say about arguably the most influential female musician, I guess I saw her as just another pop singer. Less as a person but an entity that everyone knows. Madonna was just... that. Madonna.
At least I thought this way until last year, when three events drew me to her more than I ever thought I would. They all seemed so benign, shifted my core into a knapsack that could fit her into my life. The first was when my brother played Into the Groove on one of his Spotify playlists while we were celebrating Mother's Day, a song I also knew of her but remembered how much of a banger it was. Around that same time, I abandoned the news to keep my sanity intact following a certain card winning the country. That's when I heard Like a Prayer for the first time on this soft rock radio station, and if I knew how spiritually uplifting it was, I would've listened to it years ago. Finally, I watched The Devil Wears Prada for the first time last year where I heard Vogue, and that song placement was like a formed trinity linking the fashion, music and publishing worlds together in artistic bliss. From there, I've played her card anytime I've gotten the chance this past year.
Those three events represent what I like about Madonna so much. Her versatility and range, and how she runs the gamut of the beauty of existence astounds me in ways I wish I could describe better. She could gravitate you to the dance floor like a shining heavenly body, dancing all your vitriol away. When you feel disconnected from your soul, she could mend them back together and remind you to put your faith in what lies beyond this material world. Like all great artists, she could show you another perspective of what you dismissed before, letting it clear your worldview like a new prescription. I feel these traits with I Feel So Free, like the carefree energy of Confessions mixed with the introspection of Like a Prayer and the aurality of Ray of Light.
It's these dimensions to her sound that perhaps kept her in the spotlight for so long. They echo traits I've heard in some of my favorite artists: Outkast, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Prince (who I also wish I delved deeper into much earlier in life). Yet of all the artists, she hid near the bottom of the deck, waiting for the day I could pull her, reveal her identity. One of my biggest musical regrets is never giving her more than a cursory chance. In this cruel weirdness of modern life, one of my latest musical successess is finally granting that to her. She's earned a spot in my hands.
You can't give it a 7 because "Now that she's older Madonna is only a 7"
@debrachambers1304Hmm...don't think this take is gonna age particularly well.
@chrisga9771You have no clue do you? NEXT!
@swespt71You have never demonstrated any connection to dance music or dance music history. You donât know what you are talking about. Just stick to indie rock and R&B.
@calicomoonchildYou dont deserve that erotica vinyl behind you for your review of this album
@pallafoxSays the Kanye west of reviews.
@yaypop3:09 crazy because I listened to the whole album and I feel so free is the only one I liked
@StupidboyjulianNothing original or authentic, like the album was created using AI crap. Dull boring lyrics and sounds..
@davidbest8912The new album absolute rubbish, an insult to her legacy. Let it go Madonna and retire gracefully..
@davidbest8912wtffffff i feel so free is sooo good
@pqgagaI found 0 songs I liked.
@quatiedo xperiment
@cloutchaser5213DUDE. She's STILL making albums?! And how old is she- oh god dammit đ„
@zeppelinaissa-zh8dfgirl say that Lazy Rodrigo's latest album deserved better than this masterpiece of an album shows how much of a sellout you are.
@markitchuIs there anything more boring than this white bald guy talking about an album that is in no way, shape or form meant for any element of his being?
@MsEverwatLazy review. Itâs like you didnât really listen to the album. Were you doing the dishes or on cleaning house lol.
@TomekFior12Sounds like the last Megadeth album
@johnnypissoffI think it's a better album than you are giving it credit for. It's not as "fun" as the original because this is 2026 and things are a lot darker now. She's older and so are we. This isn't just a fun retread, and calling it "cerebral" as a detractor is wild to me. This album is going to stand the test of time because it's unafraid to face the darkness.
@brentholcomb7842I'm sorry, but what humour did Confessions I have?
@rogetrogetgiddyI Feel So Free was a perfect introduction.
@rogetrogetgiddyYou lowered her Metacrittic media damn it! It is a SOLID 9
@frangavilan901Him stressing on the "fifth" then sliding "teenth album" got me. It's like even he is fried at this point.
@ashuzonI Feel So Free > Confessions I.
@fabiobrand539tier list for madonnaâs albums when
@vespertine2581This shirt is a subliminal to all the pop girly stans that think he's evil for rightfully standing on business about the Halsey review
@TheAuroraMallThis man's opinions are on a spiral, it's just getting goofier and goofier through the years
@loscaduSheâs no Jesse Ware tho
@michaelnoonang9207wow you have been generous! And reading the comments below I understand why. Also disagree on I feel free, in my opinion the only tolerable thing on the album due to the way I feel love is integrated into it. Also the only tune that resembles (is symmetrical to the opening of) confessions 1. I believe she did much much better on other recent releases... Bitch I am Madonna has an interesting arrangement and it is more adventurous for example. This is boring, lame, superficial, apologetic, completely out of time and definitely stretched too thin. After 3 songs I fall asleep. Cover is very iconic, I give u that.
@n3r0n3You know what's insane? Madonna's Like a Prayer wasn't even nominated for AOTY at the Grammys. It's easily one of the ten best albums of all time regardless of genre.
@brandedtotroll9153I would have thought an 8 with only one Least Favorite Song
@BzzzzzapkaplooieOverall his review is decent. But I also think he's missing the entire point. This album is for love in times of horror. It's not meant to be entirely happy. The fact that he didn't mention bizarre proves this.
@mikeym3777I absolutely love the track Betrayal. It feels like sheâs forcing herself to deal with the anger sheâs had for her recently passed stepmother and let all of that disdain go. It has a 90s trip hop Portishead type of vibe. Really well done.
I must admit I was initially underwhelmed when I listened to it the first time last weekend. I finally listened to it when both earbuds in and it felt like a complete odyssey of sorts. Way more substantial than I realized.
This album is a grower đ
