Can Andy Burnham finally gain the parliamentary seat he needs to enter the Labour leadership race? Will Robert Kenyon and Reform stop Burnhamâs charge to Downing Street and further cement their status as Labourâs inevitable successors?
Kenyon is depending on Starmer's unpopularity. Burnham is depending on Rupert and his chums gathering support. Kenyon won't mind me saying that as he likes tongue in cheek comments.

The UK political system is nothing but an illusion of democratic choice. Labour has been compromised from within, the Tories and Lib Dems represent the same wealthy elite, and Reform UK feels like a controlled-opposition projectâno outsider gets the kind of mainstream media platform Nigel Farage enjoyed without establishment backing. They used him to stir up nationalist and racial divisions just to push Brexit through.
âLook at what they did to Jeremy Corbyn. The moment a leader genuinely challenges the system, the establishment machineâthe BBC, Sky News, and the rest of the mediaâorchestrates a character assassination. Now, groups like Restore push the far-right angle, while the Privy Council pulls the strings behind the scenes. Our only real hope is rallying behind Corbynâs new initiative, "Collective" (Your Party), but the media has already poisoned the well to keep his vote low. Even if he gains traction, the machine will never let a true alternative win.

If i was a Makerfield voter id reject the malign influence of the polls and follow my heart .
The polls scare people out of voting for parties with low scores . In other words , the polls protect the establishment , with all its self-interest and corruption.
Voting for a small party can help build its credibility , which , win or lose , may attract more votes at a later date.
Tactical voting based on the polls will probably deliver more of the same ... year after year after year.

@DerrickSmith-d7cGreat point about the confidence of the racist nationalist. He's always been there sulking at the end of the bar. He had a win with Brexit and now he's got not only one but 2 political parties and most of the tabloid media telling the story he has always believed. This is also happening in bars and cafes all over Europe. I'm happy to note that when the racist nationalists came close to winning in France there was still a progressive majority who united and came out to vote against the racist nationalist candidates - just because the politics of division and hate is not acceptable to the majority of the French. I suspect Andy Burnham will have to do a lot more than just win this by-election if he want's to present a progressive alternative to the racist nationalist agenda taking hold in the UK.

@mjribesPeople need to start talking about the anger that has been starred up by Reform and Restore. Theorytically , this would be a big problem for Nigel Farage, if he was to win the election. With all this anger, what happens when he gets in doesn't deliver, they will come for him.I think in a way that we've never seen before. If he's lucky he will have weeks , but if people aren't seeing a tangible change within days , he will be in big big trouble.
