Million animals, plants at risk of extinction due to human activities, U.N. report says
Video Overview & Insights
About one million species of animals and plants around the world are now at risk of extinction, in part due to pollution and over-fishing. A new United Nations report says nature is essential for our existence and a good quality of life, but point to a stark warning: humans are transforming the planet’s natural habitat at an unprecedented rate. Jonathan Vigliotti reports.
"The world is also losing its biological diversity as plant and ani-mal species are destroyed faster than new species evolve. This bio-logical impoverishment of the earth is the result of habitat destruc-tion, pollution, climate alteration, and hunting. With each update of its Red List of Threatened Species, the World Conservation Union-IUCN shows us moving further into a period of mass ex-tinction. In the latest assessment, released in 2000, IUCN reports that one out of eight of the world's 9,946 bird species is in danger of extinction, as is one in four of the 4,763 mammal species and nearly one third of all 25,000 fish species.
Some countries have already suffered extensive losses. Austra-lia, for example, has lost 16 of 140 mammal species over the last two centuries. In the Colorado River system of the southwestern United States, 29 of 50 native species of fish have disappeared partly because their river habitats were drained dry. Species lost cannot be regained. As a popular bumper sticker aptly points out, "Ex-tinction is forever. "

As long as our food sources and those animals involeved in our food production thrive, we're fine. Yeah, many species will dissapear and whole ecosystems will collapse. So what? We do not depend on them. Farmlands and pastures will continue to produce.
Even if the pollinators dissapear, we are fine. They are only useful in the fruit production really ( coffee, tomatoes, apples, berries etc.) we can live without.
Survival of the fittest. One day humans will disappear as well and that is alright.
Remember the Interstellar movie. I was actually more interested and alarmed about the crop extinction than the time travel aspect.
@richardalvarado-ik9brsadly i had to write this for my eng hiw
@PiusAntiothis is bad.
@JaqHandlethis is why i hate men men destroying world
@nurin_ainaniGo vegan for the animals, health, environment and planet!
@Belcher703The average hamburger takes 600 gallons of water. So what, the water doesn't disintegrate. Silly claims are meaningless.
@davidabrintonThe polar bear population is up since the 1970's. Polar bears do not live forever, but they get old and die. Then climate alarmist take pictures of a dying polar bear to show how the bears are all dying. We were told to believe the science when they told us it would be too late unless we did something by 2000. Twenty three years later they have continually extended the date. So either it is already too late or the people making such claims are disingenuous to say the least. I believe they are liars, filling their pockets with money so they can buy beach front property.
@davidabrintonInteresting
@elenab.9242Title correction: Million animals, plants at risk of extinction due to Big Corps/BIll Gates activities, U.N. report says
@CancelYoutube026Leftist/Bill Gates altered the true history, took away giant human bones and prehistoric high tech artifacts, and paying medias to blaming it on human hunting animals that cause the extinction but not the historical catatrophic events, so people can eat bugs and own nothing, while Bill Gates and all the Illuminati cult members hunt animals, acquire furs, and consume luxurious meats, and profiting greatly from their fictional evolutionary narratives, resulting in massive carbon footprints. They will always remain in the shadows, escaping blame for being the main cause that ruins our Earth's resources, and human civilizations.
@CancelYoutube026I couldn’t ignore “Hi Jonathan thank you”
@szneditz08Tell that to your consumers who imports everything from China. Like a windmill will save you..?
@geirkarlsen7329Too many people. We just can't be so many with our current level of development
@harrymckenzie3725Most animals don't mean much to us. I say keep the useful animals and get rid of the rest
@nxlckindumbz4929Humans need to stop existing. All other creatures are 1 million times more valuable. We only destroy what we touch. We are narcissistic, despicable and horrible species.
@vanessav65It starts from the companies, and we humans tend to follow suit.
DONT MAKE THINGS THAT CONTAMINATE. PERIOD
I want to know how endangered species came about. Things have been surviving thousands of years without human intervention. What happened?
@beverlykelly6270Covid19 is the earth's way of fighting back
@michaelwoods3850Humans are like cancer
@michaelwoods3850Billions of humans destroying the planet and all life on it
Millions of species going to be continued to be driven extinct
And less time then you think to fix it
Better figure out the problem or deal with mass die off either way we just choosinv if we bring the animals with us and if we continue
Typical heartstring-pulling by the climate alarmists. The bear could be very old or sick and not ‘starving’ as the narrative leads people to believe 😡
@johnskippy2376When a human dies we take care of his/her body but if animals die we eat them(not me) no takes care of animals not only humans can live on earth even not only earth every single planet if humans can live there, so animals can live there too
@n.o.gaming7657And most of us don't care. So long as we have the newest Iphone, air travel to vacation hot spots, and Amazon, we're content. To h*!! with other living things' suffering or extinction. :/
@aiahzohar5636Must've hurt the cameraman to record the bear...
The reason people don't help is because they cannot tell how directly it affects them.
Aside from that, this generation is pretty selfish, so they don't care what happens in the future.
Yeah, the animals didn't do anything wrong, it's a shame...but I can't find myself to go out of my way to help them out.
And even as our teacher has us study this, I'm pretty sure they aren't doing anything themself; we're too busy with our own lives.
It's sad to hear and think about this, and I know when everybody bands together a difference can be made, but I'm not passionate enough, and I can't do anything alone.
It takes a good and charismatic leader to start this, somebody like Greta Thunberg.
A small percentage will always help, but if you're the only one doing it, then nothing's going to happen.
It's a small delay to the inevitable.
People who help out in little ways probably feel like good people doing it, half for self-enjoyment, and half for actually caring, and I guess that can make you feel no regrets.
🥲😠...........👉👉👉👉👉👉🤥👈👈

Fukushima Dai'ichi is an extinction level event. The triple meltdowns will leach radioactive contamination century after century into the Pacific Ocean until marine life is wiped out. Already marine wildlife along the West coast of Canada and USA has been devastated since the accident in year 2011.
@tommorris3688Let's Make the UN Extinct . ;-)
@tenchi1357Fake News and Lies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@tenchi1357Before Humans Exist In This Beloved Planet We Have Animals Are Here Before Us I Hope Some Of The Humans From This Planets Understand What They Try To Do In Animals
@marybison3668Maxi mum damage done to earth planet.
@k.ganesanganesan6825Stop extinction.
@k.ganesanganesan6825Wait! I assume most if not all of these scientists believe in evolution and survival of the fittest? So why are they concerned about species going extinct (including the "human animal'), when natural selection is just part of the evolutionary process?If humans are responsible for eliminating other species then they are more fit than those species. If humans destroy themselves then another species will become more fit to survive.So what are they so worried about it's just evolution doing it's thing.
@dantespeak138Boi
@cjcabonargiBuild pedestrian green cities instead of asphalt deserts that serve automobile industries!!!!! The urban sprawl is lonely, isolating from nature and people and not healthy for anyone.....
@user-ee5om8wy7uBetter than driving less, using less plastic, and so on and on would be - best of all - reproducing less! We should let the trees grow back before reproducing at such speed that we cut off trees faster than they have time to grow back..... For throwing trash and plastic - we should fine and send people to jail! When we trash the earth - we trash the home of other animals, which is violation of their basic rights to this earth. The Earth belongs to animals no less than to humans. Earth is all shared by animals
When humans destroy animals or their habitat - that is nothing short of genocide. And so, any small act of genocide towards animals , like leaving plastic on the ground (fake food for birds), or cutting off trees (bird's home) for construction projects should be strictly punished.
More than 99 percent of all species, amounting to over five billion species, that ever lived on Earth are estimated to have died out. Humans were not even there for the great majority of them.
@fliegerohThe rich will get richer from this.
@scottmitchell9458Yu cant blame all humans it's the white man pumpin gas and doing construction on there lands .God will come set them straight
@terryjohnson1144Another video describing human extinction. Pointless... 😑
@DeadSkullableI have been commenting about human overpopulation and limited earthly resources for long time.... but, people treated me like a troll...
@HollowHill17OMG!!! The bear😭😭😭
