Mohamed El-Erian: The worst of inflation is behind us

Video Overview & Insights

Mohamed El-Erian, The Wharton School Rene Kern professor and Allianz chief economic advisor, joins 'Squawk Box' to discuss his thoughts on prediction markets, latest market trends, inflation outlook, state of the AI boom, and more.

As Egypt now is a BRICS Member apparently,
we might assume El-Arian could begin to notice that
around 75% of available resources seem to be located within that Trade Association.

The inflation that 100 nations can exert on G-7 Imports,
appears to be able to ask for an increasing amount of fiat currency,
for the resources they sell.

The cost to produce any products that requires minerals
from the BRICS group seem to have the power to drive up costs
that are affecting consumers spending as food and fuel are bleeding their budgets.

When will we notice that the G-7 is attacking a BRICS Wall?

another paid schill, he obviously doesent live in the real world where people do grocery shopping, pay rent or property taxes or HOA fees or any kind of insurance because all these are up 10% YEAR ON YEAR, but i guess if your an economist working for a big multi national corporation making big money inflation doesent seem that bad i guess thats why he is so out of touch with the real world, his fancy numbers which we all know can easily be changed and manipulated to suite ones own agenda might say the worst is behind us, when you the US govt keeps creating billions of dollars out of thin air THATS INFLATION, inflation is the creation of FIAT out of thin air, the manifestation of that is rising prices for the ordinary folk, economics 101

@

I don't know squat about finance, but I couldn't not disagree more strongly with Mr El-Erian.. Just go buy your own groceries for a couple of months and you'll see. I don't know how our government or financial wiz kids measure certain things but I can tell you inflation and shrink-flation are real and are not whatever number Trump tells us it is..

Don't you idiots see? FIFA was trying to save the world by rigging it for Messi to go out with a world cup win. Iran and the US would have put aside their differences and ended the war. Now, it's too late. Spain won, but at what cost? SELL EVERYTHING. Even T-Bills aren't safe. Physical gold and canned soup, that's it.

@MrJimShorts
@

I don't understand how he can say that the worst inflation is behind us when your country's president is saying the full-on war has restarted, MOU is over, Hurmuz is back to closed. We're living in a country of jokers one way or another.

❤interest rates vs inflation equilibrum is finding a place soon. If not spike, unknown event, then settlement is favored. This is a good outcome, afraid the gov official in W H will abort, put a monkey wrench in it and leave us in the hand of evil Putin now known as the butcher of the Kremlin.

There’s no way he can say that with any certainty, the Iran war is literally just ramping up today

These guys are way off base. High inflation persists. Inflation is not coming down. The "official" numbers understate the true rate, which is somewhere between 7% and 10%. Don't fall for the big fat lie.

It’s going to end the same way it started. Sticks and stones

Eveyrtime I listen to El-Erian, I'm reminded he is an overrated 🤡

I hear so many things without actual numbers to back them. This guest is a good example of one of those sides. I'm also hearing refineries have been hit and will take years to repair, causing possible shortages in major manufacturing outputs. Those folks are no better though, they don't say what the overall demand is versus what the output of those damaged refineries used to be, and what they are after the damage

Sulfur is still $1100 per tonne, up over 300% this year...

El-Erian is right except AI "inflation" - it's deflationary already. I have first hand experience. Straightforward, easy to detect and called out at the time money printing created inflation. What did Andrew and the CNBC team say while we were money printing?

Probably but we are along way to the 2.0% goal.

Just because they are manipulating the public perception of inflation, you still might notice it when you get your bill at the restaurant. What a silly man

@bryallen11

worst of inflation is behind us? He apparently has a problem understanding compound interest. Budget is still 2 trillion in the negative every single year nothing has changed. Inflation is going to continue ravaging the country.

@bryallen11

People are completely underestimating how fragile our access to critical minerals and silver is right now. Between China's export restrictions and the rushed rollout of Project Vault to secure rare earths, the industrial foundation is under immense strain. The traditional stock market is painting a false picture while underlying commodities and inflation pressures build up. Rather than getting caught up in the rigged market narrative, you need to adapt your portfolio to capture the volatility. I've personally benefited from following Linda Mikalonis’s trading tactics, managing to grow my nest egg from 2 BTC to a solid 16.5 BTC in a very short period of time. Grateful as always, Linda Mikalonis, for your ongoing support.

***** There was never any inflation for him. He talked sensibly at the time of the great recession. Last few years he just appears on TV to make some money. How the mighty have fallen!

@Tom-l1t7m
@

Sure, but the "worst" of inflation was 10% in the middle of the pandemic... also, in the same way compound interest is so powerful, so too is the effect of inflation. 10 years of 4% inflation is worse than 1 year of 10% inflation.

For years I liked how he explained market forces and investment perspectives. Even my simple mind understood his points and counterpoints. But sadly, he's become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the failed economic policies of the Trump administration heading into the midterms. Why? I have read in financial outlets that he's got huge stakes in the very investments he knows will rise or fall based on the outcome of the election.
