More adults are moving in with their parents as the U.S. affordability crisis deepens

I have the opposite happening. My husband and I are in our 30s with 3 kids with my mother living with us. Regardless of generations, its ridiculously expensive. Especially right now.

Why would u get a useless lib arts degree. Get a STEM degree, u will be helping your parents, not vise versa. Ridiculous.

As my children went off to college, my dream was always to downsize our home but now I feel that would be very short sighted.

We have one of the best governments in the world and they have failed us, they care more about other countries than they do their own people.

How much is spent on the dogs? It is all about choices. Nothing wrong with moving back home, but my wife and I live on $60k. It can be done. We are very frugal, however compared to most. Eating out is rare, for example.

Every kid that I encounter, that's getting ready to go to college, or is in college, I asked them the following.
"What job are you going after after you graduate, and what does it currently pay in Today's Society?"
So far, I have yet to meet one kid that can answer that question.🤨

My house has an ADU for rent now. Hope one day my daughter moves back and live in that unit.

She will be back with her parents. The economy is getting worse. Soon, it will be the norm that 40 year olds will have to live with their parents.

I’m a 27 year old man and make $120k a year have my own 1 bedroom apartment. The amount of stuck up 27 year old girls who have never moved out of their parents house will question if you’re good enough for them. Yet you ask those same girls. “So have you looked for apartments?” And openly admit they can’t afford it.

😂 get yourself a man that can provide. Your grandparents did it, so did your parents.

The on common trend I see is it’s mostly single women in their late twenties, early thirties who behind the scenes are extremely stuck up and judgemental. Learn how to commit and help contribute or stay at home and be a child.

Like 3rd world countries, because young adults in those countries CANNOT afford to rent , and 3rd world countires are becoming 1st world countries in prices. Im living in a 3rd world country and in just 6 years prices have become almost doubled.

Back then, you can't wait to get out of your Parents' house at 18, just because they don't want you going out partying. Now that the youth don't party anymore, it's better for them to stay with their Parents.

Sorry don't buy it. These are failures. Unemployment is very very low. Rent an apartment. Inflation low. In the 1980s mortgage rates were 18% and inflation was 10%.

So disgusting this greedy capitalist country. I was able to move out on my own at 21! My children couldn't do that years later.

The problem is we have not had any recessions so that asset prices can reset to reasonable levels. It is good that families can help one another during these difficult times.

Yep! We are a family of 6. Two senior adults, 2 Gen X age adults, 2 Gen Z young adults. And one small dog. Two young adults can’t afford to live on their own and the the 2 senior baby boomers are in their 80s. Cost of living in this country is no longer an American dream but a nightmare
