Video Overview & Insights

How to Trade Options for Beginners - How to Buy & Sell Calls and Puts

Best explanation I’ve heard of options ever

— @leeyoo130

► Get started with Public: https://public.com/pandrea

In this video, I’ll break down how option contracts work step by step, so even if you’re brand new, you’ll finally understand what options are, how they function, and the four basic trades: buying calls, buying puts, selling calls, and selling puts. We’ll cover real-world examples, stock examples, and the key concepts of strike price, expiration date, and premiums — everything you need to build a strong foundation in options trading.

DUDE! Your break down is major learner friendly thank you!

-When you might use options instead of buying stock directly

-How options can be used for leverage, hedging, income, or speculation

This feels like we are taking the existing money away from other people as someone else has to buy the contract from you at some point for you to be profitable

Subscribed! You're very good at explaining it to layman terms. I was wondering if you can do a video on rolling options, I think its good for traders to know how to roll options especially when they are doing coverall calls or cash secured puts

Great presentation--I really like the table outlining all this to keep things straight in my head.
However, there is an error in your table in the 2nd box under Selling Puts. The cash collateral should be $4500 ($45 strike price x 100) since that's the cash collateral one would need if they get assigned and have the obligation to buy the stock at the agreed upon price of $45/share for 100 shares.

@napoleonmdusa8877
@

good video, but you didn't mention the difference between (sell to close and sell to open) now sell to close what you want to do because sell to open that's very risky for a beginner.

@MotiveGoBig
@

When buying a put, does that mean I own the stock, and I am willing to sell at strike price? So if stock goes below strike price, the person I have a contract with, has to buy my stocks at strike price?

Same things with buying puts...you can make profit as long as the stock option drops below the contract price you purchased at. Not sure why Alex is saying it has to drop below the strike price as that simply isn't true

@ScottFranklin-m3i
@

Love this guy however you can still easily win a buy call option if the stock never reaches the strike price. As long as the options contract price increases after purchase, you can still make profit.

Waiting for next video about other strategies. Thanks sir
