Persian Mashed Potatoes – Turmeric Twist on a Classic
Video Overview & Insights
Hi friends, today we are making a wonderful, easy to make Iranian dish that is very similar to Mashed Potatoes. I had this food a few times as a child and all the kids loved it.
You cook the potato whole with the skins?
I can't recall if it had a different name, so if you know, please let me know. Until then, we can call it Persian Mashed Potatoes :)
Ingredients List:
❤😊
- One kg of potato
- One good size onion
It's called "do piyaze in Shiraz"
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
I love tumeric! Will cook this soon. Thank you.
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- Cooking oil and/or butter
I'm going to try it tomorrow. In Germany we have mashed potatoes, too, as a side dish. But I'm curious to try it with Kurkuma and onion. I will have lamb meat and green beans with it. Thanks for your great videos. I love to watch them to get some new inspiration and ideas for daily cooking. Greetings from Germany!

@Rmdr-x2xOmg! I can’t believe you made this dish. I grow-up in Abadan and it was a popular side dish with many families. My mother used to make it at least once a week and she would serve it with KOOKOO SANBZI or Persian KOTLET.
Now, I make it for my family (without butter) and they love it, too.
Thank you so much for bringing such pleasant memories back.
We called it "do piazeh aloo" دو پیازه آلو . Thanks for making the video. It was my mom's simple go to lunch dish when I was a kid.
@bahramgolshan3548Fried eggs would be good with that
@kimd186Fantastic, thank you!❤
@DeinVatersVaterjungeIn South India, we make a dish called Masala Dosa. It's a crepe with potato filling inside, this recipe is identical to that potato filling. It's surprising that we can find similar dishes across borders :)
@prithviraj8776I'm going to make some tonight! I reckon it'll go really well with sauages. 😁
@offwithhishead2556I never miss your videos . ❤ Love the way you explain.
