That book has incidents which make you question it's authenticity. How can there be so much coincidence that every now and then he bumps into someone?I started to wonder midway through it's reading. That is pure exaggeration, no sensible man will believe the stories mentioned.

I have heard hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Dr. Joe interviews and I think this is my favorite one.❤️❤️

I discovered this book during a meditation. It was as if someone spoke to me and said "Teachings of a Yogi," and an image of an orange book with a picture in the center appeared. After finishing my meditation, I searched for those words on Google, and the book I had seen during the meditation came up. It was amazing. Thank you!

@Rajshamani: It is not that Indians werent successful to propagate the teachings. It was actually that the accomplished sages do not care when they reach such level of understanding and awareness. Then the Maya as Earth is called in Veda is too known to them to care about money fame first and secondly for them the true essence of learning sums up as- to know is to seek. Unless you are seeking it yourself you won't understand. While I am in the journey of deeply understanding the Vedas and hindu culture, surprisingly sometimes feel all the western scientists had done is come to back to hindu culture learnt Vedas and put some scientific terms into it and plated them to the world to win nobel prize. Amazing knowledge of Vedas and Purans. Such intellectual was Hindu sages and they never flexed about their capabilities as well🎉

Every grifter rebrands words and methods from Vedic wisdom like Kundalini not because they would lose people in the audience, it's because they want to lable it as their own and resell it under fancy buzzwords.

Let's be honest, the Western spirituality is sesspool of buzzwords because of that.

"Tennyson says that “If I can understand a flower, a small flower in its totality, I would have understood all.” Right, absolutely right! If you can understand the part you will understand the whole, because the part is the whole. And when you try to understand the part, by and by, unknowingly, you will have moved to the whole, because the part is organic to the whole.



Once a great mystic, Eckhart, was asked that, “Why don’t you write your biography? Your autobiography will be very, very helpful to people.” He said, “Difficult, impossible — because if I write my autobiography it will be the autobiography of the whole, because everything is related. And that will be too much, and how one can write the autobiography of the whole?”



That’s why those who have known have always resisted; they have never written autobiographies — except this man Paramahansa Yogananda, who has written AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI. He is not a yogi at all. Otherwise a yogi cannot write the autobiography — it is impossible, simply impossible, because when somebody has attained to nirvichara samadhi, then he is a yogi, and then, the sheer vastness… Now he has become all. If you really want to write the autobiography, it will be the autobiography of the whole from the beginning — and there is no beginning — to the end — and there is no end.



In me, if I have become aware, the whole culminates. I don’t start with my birth, I start from the very beginning, and there is no beginning, and I will go on to the very end, and there is no end. I am deeply involved with the whole. These few years that I am here are not the whole. I was before I was born, and I will be there after I am dead, so how to write? It will be a fragment, a page, not an autobiography, and a page absolutely absurd and out of context because other pages will be missing. Few friends come to me and they also say, “Why not? You should write something about you,” and I know the difficulty of Meister Eckhart. It is not possible, because from where to begin? — every beginning will be arbitrary and false; and where to end?-every ending will be arbitrary and false. And between two false things — the false beginning and the false end — how can real be managed? — not possible. Yogananda has done something which is not possible. He has done something which a politician can do, but not a yogi."

I read Autobiography of a Yogi when I was 14 and it changed so many things for me. Amazing book! Thank you for this beautiful interview

I hate people legitimizing these yogic hucksters. It's good exercise but people please stop believing that these "yogic siddhis" are real. We live in an age of science, please stop with the metaphysical fairy tales.

At 8:40 it is clear Raj Shamani has not travelled and met ppl outside India. There are other great civilisations around the world like Egyptians, Greek, Chinese, Japanese who also had spiritual/meditiation and other techniques including natural medicines. However Indians are so full of themselves they think only they know everything.
