Revealed: Expat's First Impressions of Bucharest
Video Overview & Insights
In today's video we share our first day of exploration after arriving in Bucharest Romania. Come along as we stretch our legs in a park, try out our first Bucharest restaurant, buy our groceries, and visit the Peoples Palace, and of course we share costs along the way. The city of Bucharest is Romania's capital and the 7th largest city in Europe with a metro area of 2.3 million people. Bucharest has many foreigners calling the city home due to the low cost of living. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,550 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,500 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a lower cost of living in Romania when compared to the living costs in the US.
Currently the Romanian exchange rate is 4.48 ROM to $1.00 USD

Do you want to live abroad as an Expat? Are you looking for affordable and viable options? We are exploring the world to see what it's like to live in a country, and also discover if Residency is an option.
Love your videos! I've watched most of what you filmed in 🇹🇷 and 🇷🇴. Antalya and Brasov both look like must visits. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to not move your camera so fast when filming outdoors or in motion. It gets blurry and hurts the eyes.
Thanks for all you do, best of luck in your journey!
We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it's like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.
We will make a commission on these links, your rates are not impacted.
Hi.I love your channel.I plan to retire early 11/29 from Tampa., Fl. and fly out to Lisbon via Madrid on 12/26/22. I plan to travel all over europe till I can't anymore or need to come home for whatever reason.Do you guys stay in non schengen countries only ? Do you need to leave non schengen every 90 days as in schengen area ? I would spend more months in eastern europe as opposed to western if I knew I could. Lower cost of living and more history in those countries I believe. hope you reply. Thanks.

Awesome video! Thanks for checking out Romania!
Just as a side note, there was no such requirement for women to have a number of children.
On the contrary, there was a decree, in 1966, that introduced exceptions to the ban on abortion, including for women over 40/45 and those who already had 4/5 children.
I really enjoyed your video. 👌🏼
Great channel. 🤝⭐️
Greetings from Albania. 👋🏼 🇦🇱
Great to see you again guys! Any restrictions to enter Romania? Just curious? Can’t wait to see more about this country.
@graceg8834good to se the 4 of you in Romania, looking rorward to next Vid.
@patrickdocherty5839Excited to see these new episodes in Romania. The capuccino is very cheap. City looks interesting. A mix of modern and former soviet style. Like it.
Btw, your dogs come to you at once on command. I'm a bit envious! I had a dog once, only way he would come to me was to show him money, or food.
😍💖 Loved your video on Romanua ! Super Big LIKE
@trendingwwwandwI think Brasov would be an awesome place to visit. Any plans?

@Reza16888I hope you both will find a more interesting cities/places in Romania. It looks little boring comparing it's with the places you have been to in Turkey. I hope you will enjoy been in eastern Europe.thanks for the video.stay safe.
@NomadretiredCool to see a bit or Romania on your first days there. Excited for the next video!
@GabrielTheGlobalCitizenYour opening video, in the park, brought back wonderful childhood memories. I'm Italian, and my grandparents had about 2 acres of property. Half was a veggie garden and grape arbor, while the rest was a variety of fruit trees. And of course flower beds everywhere. But it was all the fruit trees that came to mind with the video. Grandpa would white wash the trunks every year, I guess for insect protection, but also a beauty treatment. Thanks for a free ticket to a happy place today.
@sampallottiniiii709Hi. The prices from that restaurant are about 20% higher than the average. I know, it wasn't a fancy restaurant but the prices were. Also the grocery store chain called MegaImage has higher prices, about 10-15%, than the average because they are just around the corner. Anyway it's ok cause you pay for comfort of shopping next to your door and you save time.
I don't know how dog friendly is Bucharest for tourist but I can assure you that in Brasov or Sibiu you will find plenty of restaurants where you and your furry friends will be allowed to enter.
Great video. I remember well the day Ceaușescu met his maker. It made for a special Christmas. Julie is becoming quite the chatterbox in these videos! As I sit here eating cold spaghetti with my fingers I can only think of how much the dogs are enjoying their chicken Kiev (kyiv)
