Alright . I watched the film tonight and I see why he won . There were multiple times I was about to cry in this film . I think it was an amazing biopic that also happens to serve as a device to introduce the world globally to the condition that people know about but don’t really Know about .

I recently watched an interview of his daughter. It's remarkable how much listening Maya sounds like listening to Ethan talk. It says a lot about him the way she behaves and thinks.

OMG I cried at this, You can see that he is a genuine person inside and out, Robert is a Phenomenal actor and his portrayal of John in "I Swear" was just mind blowing, I think all that were in the category are outstanding actors, but for me Robert deserved this more as he was outstanding in the movie and I have watched it several times, You can see tho how lovely he is by that speech. he really made an emotional impact on Ethan for saying about that memory and how much that meant to him, xxx

I Swear is a 2025 British biographical drama film directed, written, and produced by Kirk Jones. It is based on the true life story of John Davidson, a Scottish man with severe Tourette syndrome who was the subject of the 1989 television documentary John's Not Mad.[3] The film stars Robert Aramayo as Davidson, alongside Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, and Peter Mullan in supporting roles. Scott Ellis Watson makes his acting debut as a young Davidson.

I Swear premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September 2025, and was released in the United Kingdom by StudioCanal on 10 October 2025. It was acclaimed by critics, who praised the performances of Aramayo and Mullan. The film received five nominations at the 79th British Academy Film Awards, winning two, including Best Actor in a Leading Role for Aramayo.

Plot
In 1983, 12-year-old John Davidson lives with his working class family in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders. With aspirations to become a football player, John begins his high school term at Galashiels Academy. Hearing that a scout will assess his skills as a goalie, John begins experiencing episodes of tics and uncontrollable coprolalia. The head teacher responds by whipping John's hand with a belt. This injury and his tics result in his performing poorly at football, to the disappointment of his father. John is banished from the dining table by his mother after spitting and he and his siblings are told that their father has left. John, distraught, attempts suicide by walking into a river, but is rescued and wakes up in hospital.

I am stunned to find that Robert is not a natural born Scot!! His accent in I Swear was fantastic. Maxine Peake's was a wee bit dodgy at points, but happy to forgive her. She is a fantastic actress and seems like a great human being, but I never thought Robert was speaking in anything other than his native accent. Astonishing.
Loved the film. Award well deserved.

This movie, plus Robert winning, should have been nominated for Scott Ellis Watson as best supporting actor and should have won for Best movie of the year. It's a shame they are not even nominated at the Oscars!
