Too many different opinions about SF. There good and very bad neighborhoods. We call it a mixed bag of nuts.

Thanks for this! Everyone was dumping on SF when it was down, especially FOX. SF will always have issues, but you can't keep it down for long and for good reason.

Clean up was temporary? How many billions of dollars have funneled from taxpayer dollars to NGOs/Agencies who sucked up the money, and didn't improve anything? They made businesses the enemy and they aren't coming back. No jobs and huge population of people who don't want to work is a bad combination. You'll never get the truth from the politicians.

I just walked all around the north beach neighborhood,I’ve always loved that part of the city.incredible steep hills and lovely views and homes as well as many eating places and iconic coffee shops plus Chinatown which thankfully hasn’t pushed out little Italy which happened in NYC
It’s certainly a tourist area, but it hasn’t been ruined by tourism. It’s not full of schlocky souvenir shops and chain restaurants or stores. It still is a great area although Broadway reminds me of Time Square in the 1970s,really rundown looking these days and it smells just like the New York I remember 50 years ago..aka pee

44:58 yeah... ;) i think that's the one thing people can always agree about San Francisco is that it's an undeniably beautiful city. Just the location, geography, natural scenery...by the bay, the sunsets, the golden gate, all the parks and recreation areas... i mean, in terms of natural beauty and picturesque-ness, it's hard to beat. I mean i think Northern California in general is one of the most beautiful places in the world. And even in general, i think people don't realize just the vast geographic diversity and beauty that California and the West has. It really is a little microcosm of America in its own right, you got a little bit of everything.
People often make stereotypes on 'Californians' or the West coast in general. Heh, well honestly, the truth is that the defining feature here is 'Diversity'. Diversity in geography, in cultures, in climates, in everything. The defining thing is - that there is NO ONE thing. Its a true 'melting-pot'. In the true sense of that historical American idea. After all that's what California was - "As far West as you can go..." as he says in the video. That's why people came out here...The California Dream...heading out west, to strike it rich, land of sunshine and opportunity...just as people came from the Old world to America.
So in a way, like some have said, and the way i like to think of it... it's 'America's - America'.

I lived in South City and went to school in the City. I liked it. I wanted to move into the City but I'm glad I stayed put. But last year I moved away.

@sgtcheetoh8023I love San Fran!
@chrish7614My niece was a traveling nurse and worked all over the country for several years. Eventually her and hubby settled in SF which seemed like a bold move considering they are originally from Alabama. But they are the adventurous type and have enjoyed living there. Good to see San Fran is trying to make a comeback.
@MSDOGS1976"Anyone else obsessed with cute cats and animals? 🐾😍"
@WorldMiddleBullshit, not the SF I know. One of the most beautiful cities in the world.
@spat726The coastal elites are a small minority but they have an outsized ability to screw things up. They flooded my town (Monterey) with homeless and high rents.
@robertleebishopwow, i have great memories of frisco. moved there from colorado in dec '84 to work for the chronicle. i live in japan now, been here since 2021 to raise my daughter, but will return in 5 years after she graduates from elementary school. glad its doing better
@blackpassenger87,000 evictions of working people last year
@mrpickles9691I've watched a lot of videos of San Francisco and this the only video that truly captures this place. I would love one just like this of Dallas.
@morganmorgymA good example of what becomes of Democrat run cities.
@mmmm-cm1eqYour the greatest. I lived near the tenderloin. There was reasonable places that writers, etc. lived. I loved walking the neighborhoods. I wasn't dumb and know you have to know how to be. Loved around the Haight and the great City Lights bookstore. Used to get showers at the Aquatic Park area. The Fillmore and the Warfield for Jerry bands.
@EDLARKIN-r8zHi Peter, I was just rewatching this video and it brought such tears to my eyes. I'm a "legacy" San Franciscan (not born there but from around age 20). I have such an invested personal history in that city and can't wait to get back (I'm over in Oakland right now after living out of state for about 8 years). One of the worst mistakes I ever made was leaving my rent-controlled apartment in the Outer Sunset in 2017. Oh, the stories I can tell of SF from the late 80s on. I transferred to UC Berkeley, but before that would come to the city and work as a subscription telemarketer for The Chronicle in a room on Market Street. I actually met Herb Caan during a field trip for my journalism class at Cal. Working for the Chron, I would start my day off having breakfast at the lunch counter downstairs in the old Woolworth's. I remember when they first planted the palm trees along Market and no one thought they would last. My first 1 bedroom apartment was at 31st and Geary--$450/month. My first Avenues job was at Simple Pleasures cafe on Balboa, when the first owner Sandy Gold was still the owner. I had such a community there, met so many people, and became a real part of that neighborhood, and it was a part of me. I would walk down to the barren Ocean Beach and watch the tide come in. I met my husband playing darts after work at The Hockey Haven across the street from the cafe. He brought me to all the legacy restaurants and bars during our courtship. Both my (now adult) kids were born in SF. I lived in so many places throughout the Outer Avenues. So, so many more connections and recollections. My nostalgia runs mightily deep. I wonder if I know anyone else on this thread, as invested in the Outer Avenues as I am. I know things have changed a lot out there, but I believe in my heart the core of the Richmond/Sunset is the same and always will be. Like I said, I am looking for the way back to my home.
@RangerK-f8pcome back now to see wat its like
@Christmasprancer❤ did you just document and publish yourself driving around with a handheld device hanging out the window which of course is not only illegal but extremely dangerous
@straytarnish9443I truly love the Bay from Mobile
@MarlonBurdenThose dogs are more well behaved then democrats in the area
@Jagora74VERY COOL! I miss San Francisco!
@susanbaldasano551i barely left dog patch and hunters point during covid except to go to and from the city…but I was able to make a killing in construction. Very interesting place with many aspects!!
@DaddyForeverYessLot of sad things going on in San Fran by looks of it
@emilykathleennThe Moroccan man was wise . There's lots in the town where I live and most are decent family people (probably lots of exceptions of course !!) Hes right about the drugs and the perception America has and how we take for granted the western values and culture basically
