This "fight" clearly displays Shanks true power level and the smartness of the author
Here is why

1) his Advanced Observation Haki appears significantly more enhanced than Katakuri, being able to have a future vision clearly at least a dozen of seconds ahead

2) his Base Observation Haki is at the finest as well: he had a full understanding of Eustass Kidd to not understimate at all because any second more could have caused losses. So he decided to end it quickly
"That what I expected from him" means he fully acknowledged he was a critical threat worthful that bounty

3) he is _ridicolously fast_, having ran and jumped for probably an hundred of meters in 2/3 seconds

4) he used directly Advanced Conqueror Haki delivering a devastating attack

5) he is extremely intelligent . He deliveres his strongest attack exactly the moment Kidd charged a powerful attack; this caused an even more massive damage on Kid and his Crew as well being the sum of Shanks plus Kid attack

6) at last, he popped out completely out of nowhere first with an intimidating giant Griphon, then in front of Kid; this shocked Kid who was of course caught out of guard and too focused on offensive position. Killer was umprepared as well and tried a suicide defensive attempt but it was already too late; like when you drop a grenade at your feet and trying to throw away is too late

I don't think it is fair to say Kid is not strong; it is just that Shanks did everything perfect
Oda create a sensational sequence to display that Shanks is not just brute force but a mix of an extremely fine combatant at 360 degrees, while Kid at the opposite is yes, a powerhouse, but still immature

Shanks out here using 5G Haki AND Phoenix Haki to fly.

Kid was overconfident but their victory against mom was made by law, and law lacked the strenght of kid so between the two they managed somehow. Now he alone going against shanks was a very stupid idea

All of these chapters and years these characters grow and they get soloed by a basic attack from shanks. First attack he had by name besides brooding haki attacks right?

Still think Kids alive, just taken out of the race to be King. Wouldn't be surprised if hes been recuperating in the lower realm of Elbaph. Now that i think about it, Loki would probably fit in better with Eustaces crew than Luffys.

Kid had 2 big disadvantages here, 1. Shanks observation haki of course, 2. Shanks Speed. Kid is powerful but hes definetly on the slower side when it came to him teaming with Luffy and Law. Something he definetly has to work on is finding a way to match that kind of speed.
