After only watching the video for a few minutes, once I heard that her feet and handa were growing I.already knew what she had and I am not a doctor, I just did medical translations for years. What amazes me is the ignorance of the doctors that saw her when she started with those growing symptoms. The lack.of adequate medical knowledge of those doctors is out of this world.

My grandma had this. It was removed and the growth slowed down, and she died in ICU of a lung infection when she was 84 years old. Her diagmosis and surgery was in the late 90s.

I love your channel, but honestly, I nearly unsubscribed because there's a damn commercial I have to skip every 4 min!!! It's way too much.

It's INSANE!! How is growing 3 inches and looking unrecognizable in 3 short months "normal"?? These doctors are horrific. Instead of saying "I don't know what this is, but calling in other doctors, refer her, etc., they said "you're normal"? Pisses me off.

Despite what Tanya thought, I think she’s still beautiful. Just different than how she was before, which was a giant shock to her. I really do hate how much her pain was dismissed though. All it took was an MRI and a hormone test to figure it out and nobody ever bothered to do it, it’s so frustrating.

I'm not in a medical field but I've had a complex medical history and have always been interested in medical topics. I, as a lay person, cannot believe what clowns go about practicing as doctors when I, again, a person with no medical training, could recognize Manny of the diseases you chronicle here on this channel! What are these people doing? Do they get their MD from a mail order medical school? These cases are ridiculous, unbelievable! How can they be misdiagnosed so often? It's unacceptable that medical schools are churning out these idiots who are supposed to care for our health! Incredible! Depressing and disheartening!

41 years 62 lbs in 18 mos. At 110lbs I was fat from eating too much by Dr Robert Odell. In 1985 . The endocrinologist i saw recently told me its normal to gain weight when we get older. I was in my late 20s. I can lose 10lbs in 3 mos than gain 13 lbs in 3 mos. Told its normal even the 62 lbs is normal. I have known 6 people that had brain tumors. My classmate in high school died at 17. Another man died. The other ones survived after having surgery. 3 women 3 men.

That pisses me off that doctors just assume that you are seeking painkillers to get high when you mention your constant pain that affects you on a daily basis which I can personally relate to as someone who’s diagnosed with fibromyalgia

The fact that they were like "you might have Marfan's" and then apparently never followed up on that is CRAZY. Because Marfans is a killer. Aortic dissection is extremely common, so why wasn't she immediately tested for that when it was suspected? The medical neglect is astonishing.

My grandfather developed acromegaly at 25 in the 1940’s and was diagnosed with a tumor on his pituitary gland. He was experimented on and passed away in 1978 after an experimental surgery. He didn’t grow taller, but grew extremely thick and large. He also had many related health issues.

We need to normalize people who don't fit into traditional gender norms. I can't help but feel her experience with misgendering and not fitting into women's clothes really echoes that of a trans woman. If we add a society can accept trans people, then it will also benefit cis people who don't fit the mold as well. I'm sure her experience would have been made better if people would see her as her gender and not misgender her. She also likely could have benefited from clothes that are made for drag or trans women, because people do make femme clothes and shoes for larger sizes

When I was about 14/15 I started getting these insanely painful headaches and they would come at random like an insane throbbing pain that would bring me down to my knees. I kept going multiple times to the ER and they would just tell me it was migraines because they run in my family. After time passing by I started lactating randomly. Then started to have weakness on the right side of my body. That finally got the doctor’s attention and it turned out I had a pituitary tumor as well. Thankfully it was caught on time and they gave me Medicine that would slowly break it away but if it didn’t work I would need surgery to remove. Thankfully it did but had to constantly keep getting MRIs to make sure it didn’t grow!

Sounds like a pituitary issue, crackling is not normal for migraines. An MRI should have been done.

I know the feeling I'm APO. A for someone who's ill, you know, I keep telling people like if you get really sick or something happens, you get a poa.I was accused of being a doctor a nurse. If I asked questions about the illness, or I wasn't going to accept any more b.s. doctors will actually drop you if you don't agree with what they're saying. And it can be very harmful, these doctors are a bunch of idiots if any AI needs to take over, it would need to be over their positions because I've seen so much gross negligence. Errors in their diagnosing like they don't even know how to diagnose and many of them are specialists in their field. And I would hear im baffled

I'm not a doctor, am only 1 minute in, and it's already clear to me what the issue is. There's only 1 organ and hormone that does this lol. It's legitimately concerning that it took her so long to get a diagnosis and hopefully treatment.

When my sister gained weight - it was a LOT of weight - my dad said it wasn't worth buying her an expensive dress for my wedding because she won't look good, regardless. This pissed me off, so much. I stopped caring about my wedding dress AT all - literally just took whatever used dress I could get at the cheapest price. Everything was about my sister's dress, for me. I made it myself, custom-made, special ordered the materials... I was obsessed. I'm still pissed that my dad said that. What a disgusting thing for a father to say about his own daughter.
It shouldn't matter, but my sister gained weight because she was taking medication to treat her schizophrenia and she was shamed so extremely for her weight that she was so excited to stop taking the meds (with doctor approval) and won't go back to it, no matter what, even though her life is so chaotic, dangerous, and riddled with addiction and homelessness, now.
And my dumbass parents still talk about how she shouldn't go back on those medications because of the weight concerns. DID YOU WANT A THIN DAUGHTER OR LIVING ONE?!

Being misgendered is so wild. People used to confuse me for a male all the time when I was young. I hated stereotypical feminine and "girly" things, so it's not like I cared if I had some masculine traits, but I hated that people commented, questioned, and even teased me for looking like a male. Literally, I could be in a skirt and heels and some idiot called me "he/him" when talking about me omg. XD
I identify as non-binary at this time. It works better, for me, because I've never been totally feminine. But when I used to identify as female, it made me feel like something was wrong with me that people kept mistaking me for the opposite.
It makes sense to me why people who do not identify as the gender they are born as feel so disturbed/distraught by being perceived as what they are not or having people refuse to acknowledge your identity.

I hate the ‘insult to injury’ in the botched surgeries. I understand that surgeons are imperfect humans, but the mistakes they make have devastating consequences.

So glad I found your channel! Your story telling style is very compassionate.
@kathybuttsarnold3534Are doctors stupid in the U.S? I immediately knew what she had by hearing her symtomps and her physical appearance 😂😂
@mark38258The medical field pisses me tf off
@bleachedbrownsugarbabe3673Poor girl got gaslighted so hard by those doctors she was in denial of how much she'd changed. If she hadn't moved away they would have absolutely caught it sooner. Her mom and sister were looking out for her, even the family doctor. But her support system was taken away for a guy who treated her like garbage.
@GippyHappyMan, this video really shocked me. I’m a 21 year old male who was born very prematurely and as a result of that I have a deformed pituitary gland and don’t produce enough Human Growth Hormone. I clicked on this video not even remotely thinking that this would be about something involving the same stuff! For me it was the opposite experience as her, I’ve always been smaller and scrawny, and I had to take injections to give myself HGH instead of prevent the production of it, but the few similarities are kinda surreal. We caught my condition when I was in high school but only after bouncing around between several doctors who all just told me that I was a late bloomer or whatever. Luckily, someone finally cared enough to dig deeper and look at my bone plates and my pituitary gland and give me a real diagnosis. This video and Tanya’s case is crazy to me because her suffering is probably what raised the awareness in the medical community to pituitary gland issues. Makes me wonder that if I was born a couple decades earlier, my issue would probably never have been caught. My condition caused me a lot of mental health issues and insecurity and confusion not to mention like two years of daily injections but still, obviously I went thru way way way less trouble than she did and I’m very fortunate for it. RIP Tanya
@kdickey414People need to stop putting Doctors on pedestals. Most are ego-maniacs paid off by Big Pharma. A patient cured is a customer lost.
@NihilisticRealistJust wanted to point out that the first doctor that actually did anything useful for Tanya was a woman 👍
@kittyxpaige@11:03 "told Tanya that she looked like a man" what an awful thing to say
@Flowerpower3931Idk how things were in those days, but as a current med student, we’re taught that shoes and rings suddenly not fitting anymore (as an adult who stopped growing) is a massive red flag for acromegaly
@melisa6184Wow this video was a roller coaster. I cried tears of both sadness and joy.
I hate that she had to suffer so much. I have pretty bad chronic pain conditions, but I cant even imagine the pain she had to go through.
But it makes me so happy that she was able to find joy and happiness again. The impact she has had is invaluable. Her determination and dedication to fighting her condition and fighting for others with her condition is beyond inspiring. I'm not religious, but I just keep saying god bless her. What an amazing woman she was.
This is how medical misogyny kills. I’m positive she was dismissed as an “overweight white woman” and believed her weight was the cause instead of the symptom.
@LenaLinzypeople are so cruel, why did it even matter to those people in public how she looks.
@unrel-iableBeyond awful. At least she isn’t in pain anymore.
@tiamysticjust hearing the first two symptoms i knew which illness you were talking about and not even a doctor
@thealiceftw10:03 I hate that there aren‘t women shoes for 11 foot size.
@anonym5160Ridiculous that she was not diagnosed.
I don’t have a medical degree, but have read and viewed information on this.
Any rapid change like this should have had their pituitary looked at.
Thank you so much for this video! You seem to be very compassionate and very smart!
@Fedup858i checked my hands 6 times throughout this video
@superjellyous13Man I wish I was more stressed then I can finally get form 5'7 to 6'0. I need to get a more stressful degree 😊
@tanyabornman0_0I figured it was some pituritary gland issue. I assumed it was like some kind of late onset gigantism. I am not a doctor, but the fact that this was eventually found out through a blood test is crazy. It could be due to when this took place, but unless the blood test ordered for her was highly specialized, I don't see why any doctor wouldn't order a blood test to rule out anything. It seemed clear she had some kind of hormone issue with the period becoming irregular, her lactating and then her growing and it all starting with a headache. I understand not looking to zebras, but ordering blood work should have been a thing.
