SHOULD YOU GO TO LAW SCHOOL? || 21-question quiz to see if you'd like law school + pros and cons

Video Overview & Insights

I'm pretty much halfway through law school and I know when I first contemplated going, there were so many questions to think through about whether it was the right decision for me. This is definitely not to tell you that you 100% should or should not go, but I hope by answering all the questions, you feel a bit more confident in your choice, whatever you choose to do 📚

Most people dont trust lawyers. Most law students are liberal. Therefore most people dont trust liberals. Checks.

Going to law school is absolutely not worth it. I can prove with evidence and documents that the lawyers in Tennessee do not follow the UBE rules that lawyers are required to follow, that the state of Tennessee operates unconstitutionally without having constitutionally-required oversight over the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners, and that the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners’ failure to follow the UBE rules that the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners is required to follow and the lack of constitutionally-required oversight over the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners in the state of Tennessee both delegitimize and invalidate the entire licensing process for all of the lawyers in Tennessee.

Hi! So I came across your channel before I was driving home from a hair appointment, and I was listening to this video, and mentally answering your questions, and really enjoyed listening to your thoughts and reasoning about whether or not your should attend law school. I already decided about a year ago I want to attend Law School and started to prep and study for the LSAT on my summer break (I plan to take it in a few years). There’s so many things I enjoy doing (like researching, reading a lot, etc.) and know that going to Law School is a good fit for me. I just wish I could already start! 😭

I’m glad YouTube didn’t exist when I went to law school. I literally just watched: The Paper Chase and went and no I really didn’t study for the LSAT. Yes, seemed very high school-ish to me. Graduated in 1992 and have been at it ever since. Never had any debt from it. I loved law school and would do it again with the same group.

about me 🌷

I’m Makayla! I’m a second-year law student at Boston University Law interested in environmental law. Last year I graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in creative writing, and I also like to read and cook in my free time. I grew up in Maine and studying has always been one of my favorite pastimes, so that’s why you’ll find a whole bunch of university vlogs, study motivation, book recommendations, and academic tips on my channel. You’re in good company if you’re into these things, so subscribe for more productivity content!

Hey Im glad I saw this video, next year I'll be doing law and I want to read law related books mind suggesting a book that I could read on my free time.

My country is a yet developing country but law school is almost free here. If you pass the exams which are always too hard and prove your worth your responsibility is fully on the government henceforth. It is pity how countries which we called developed cannot offer a free education for its children and they demand a lot of money to give a right that every human being have to possess for money 🎉

Law is interesting, but lawyering is not. I was accepted to three law school but decided not to go because I fundamentally dislike the usual lawyer personality. The cost was also an issue, far more than buying a house.

Become something useful to society other than a parasitic paper pusher. It is nothing like TV

My greatest regret is having gone to law school. It is a profession filled with amoral sleaze dressed in suits and ties.

Law school should be an undergrad program. It was obvious after the first semester that all one needs to graduate a top 25 law school with a B-+ avg is the show up for the syllabus, and then the only test, an open book final. Law professors are the most useless humans on Earth. I learned law from the Federal judge I interned with, and while studying for the Bar. Become an engineer, a carpenter, an architect-
something society needs more of, not less.

9:13 hello! I am trying still deciding if I’d like to be a Lawyer and if possible I’d appreciate if you could elaborate on what you ment in this part. I thought to get into law school you had to major in things law related in undergraduate school.

Number 7 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO important and it seems like one in a billion people understand the distinction between what the law is and what the law should be.

As a sophomore in high school it's definitely way too early for me to be giving confident answers to many of these, but nonetheless I found it to be a very insightful watch! I'm trying to decide whether to go into teaching or law, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about both worlds before I make a hugely expensive decision after high school. Thanks for the video!

Just finished my MA in political science and I feel like I totally should have gone to law school instead. I am answering yes to all of these questions, many of which were a detriment to me in my grad program.

This is such a good video. It’s structured, comprehensive, and it’s creative with making it a quiz. It really helped me. I’m considering law school, and look forward to watching more of your content!

I know for sure I am not cut out for law school lol! 😂 I'm even bad at grammar.

Do you still write stories and play the violin? Have you thought about publishing your own stories? Just wondering. 😊

Loved this list just for the like confirmation check. I know I am going to law school, what I want is less in the picture since there are religious things in play. My only nos are grammar, networking, and politics, but I'm good at keeping my head down and connecting with people who would strongly disagree with me if I told them what I thought plainly, so hopefully I'll be fine! And well, I just need to practice grammar again. It's been a while (sincerely, someone with a physics degree that was in another language).

Good show. When I retire in 5 years I want to go back to college. I'm still deciding whether to study linguistics, anthropology, agriculture, or the law. My advanced degree is in organic chemistry and I teach it for a living. Thank you.

it's like you read my mind😅 i literally just started second-guessing whether i actually want to go to law school, i think for me it kinda boils down to idk if i actually want to practice law afterwards

I'm so glad BU has a nice law student community. A friend of mine graduated many years ago from BU Law and she had the same thing to say.
Loved your video, I'm too old for any sort of grad school now, but I watched this all the way through. Nope, I would not have survived. 🤣
