When you are learning English, like learning anything, to improve your skills you need practice and experience. And a popular way to get that in English is by watching films and television.
But there is one question that many learners have: should I use subtitles? In this video I’m going to answer that question, and also tell you the best settings for your subtitles to make your learning as effective as possible.
❤❤❤
00:00 Why can't you understand films and TV?
01:03 Language delivery
The problem are the English speakers. There are a lot of contractions. A whole lot. Many sounds blend together, and endings are swallowed or softened. Because of this, I can’t hear what people are saying. I understand, but I can’t hear it. In my language, almost all sounds are pronounced clearly. It's very difficult to learn a language where people speak differently than they write.

@vladimirsoroka9766I agree with the person who said that humor series are the hardest to undestand, or interviews, i think that people speak very fast and i try to follow them as fast as i can, but its imposible with all the vocabulary and the difficult words they use.

@JhojagomoHello. Firstly, you are really different teacher, just talking and showing reality and building up confidence besides so many silly details make videos fun and kind, thanks for that
I have one question to understand myself.
If I understand every video of this channel, and contents in videos easily, just sometimes don't know 1 or 2 words, does that mean the cause of bad talking skill is confidence and characteristic(i have apps to talk people like hello talk, but I afraid of writing anyone, it makes me stressed). I'm trying to understand if my english just enough for learning, it basically reached its limit and I have to practice it with people in daily conversations to learn new words, contextual words, idioms, coherence and more things like that.
As a movie I recently watching all saw movies and because there are so many philosophical ideas, and there are to many words that new to me, so I got desperate that I can't understand. Also beside John, everybody talking to fast some times, it also makes things hard to understand
I don't know me, so don't know have to get better, there simple things that watching films, reading book, talking others and more. But I don't know what to watch, what can help exactly. Also do I have to write all the words I don't know,it gets annoying in some places that there are to many words that you don't know so context just get harder to understand
thanks man,you really changed my mindest about listning.because it's turn out that the assues wasn't us but the nature of speaking in movies.
I'll come back after yearvto compare the results
Thanks ❤
