@downtowngubbyFWIW, Texas purged voter registration rolls in 2025, as well as this year. And it’s only June! Registered voters that haven’t voted in more than 4 years definitely need to check on their registration status. If your status is changed to suspend, the state notifies you by snail mail, and you have 30 days to respond and correct whatever the issue is. This is not common knowledge - it’s in the FAQ section on the TX SoS page under voting information
@Hellsbells4theresistanceAre there predictions of voter turnout among registered voters who haven’t voted in 3 or more cycles? In Texas, voter apathy has been a problem for decades. There are more registered voters in Texas that have NEVER voted, than those who have. I saw an anecdotal report that some of these folks, for the first time in their lives, are so angry and motivated to vote.
I understand that accurate predictions are based upon prior behavior, which makes this type of research more challenging. Perhaps there is some evidence from the 2025-2026 special elections both federal and state; as well as data from the primaries? . Do you know if first time voter data are available from any of those races? Has anyone compared voter turnout for the 2025-2026 special elections with 2022?
