Streets by VICE: Los Angeles (Sunset Boulevard)
Video Overview & Insights
Sunset Boulevard has become shorthand for what Los Angeles represents in the collective imagination. Most people do not see Los Angeles themselves, and instead imagine the world of fame and affluence they see on their TV screens. However, the reality of Los Angeles is not one glamorous place or setting ā instead, it is a gigantic, diverse and complicated city, divided by its disparate neighborhoods. To know it you have to travel from east to west, across colliding communities that evoke both glitz and grit. In this episode of City Guides we drive along Sunset Boulevard, stopping at venues and speaking with native Angelenos about the economic and cultural influences that have defined and transformed their neighborhoods.
No I am not convinced: when i was at LA last year the whole of that strip was filled with homless and addicts. Everyone in LA was complaining about being broke and things being bad cus of the collapse of the film industry. Ecko park is littered with people living in their cars. Nice try Diddy

@BabyBash23that was really good
@sundaramajiTwo words to describe Los Angeles. "$hitHole". Or is that one word?
@midlifemotoxSometimes you just have to take out the trash. Here's an idea, don't be trash.
@bradforward850I prefer living in Norway. Good luck Amerika.
@christopherwelch136A good watch
@michaelcorleone7598Great vid!
@jahwobble52145:35 Ostrich restaurant owners denying they are gentrifyers is laughable. That's like me denying that hundreds of steers would've died in spite of my unquenchable desire to constantly eat carne asada burritos.
@cuteshoesandbags8094RIP Jonathan Gold. He helped put LA on the culinary map.
@dmarkj22The paparazzi getting so excited to take a photo of some nobody on a reality show sums up where weāre at as a society. A real star wouldnāt give a paparazzi the time of day. They donāt need the validation or attention from them.
@wendylederer367Great overview of Los Angeles I can't wait to visit.
@mheumanAmerica is so dirty and dangerous. Thank god I don't live there.
@n74wilson33So why are the Mexican/ black area's so shitty? I mean, the Mexicans could have made the area's nice, but they don't. They make it a dump. It's not the whites fault they bring safety, business, and clean streets into the area which in turn brings a better class of people into the area.
@GhostGreen-b6mWhat was once Ciro's is now The Comedy Store. Surprised you left it out. But thanks for the cool video!
@sage9453The best short film i have seen on LA, you should a real human reflection, almost felt like i have been their.
@pyschointellectualThis didn't age well.
@awg7068The irony of a white blonde vocal fried girl doing this segment is just too much
@troyflatland5299Guy talks about gangbanging and the police response⦠blonde responds āand at a certain point itās just racismā š¤Ø How is it racism if the cops are making arrests in response to real crimes? Should they ignore it and leave the law-abiding citizens to the mercy of the gangs? You canāt have it both ways
@speedlettEw. This jewess and her vocal fry are repulsive.
@ChideNormsTotally hot coffayyyyy
@SteakDaddy-oCities like my hometown L.A and New York, always feel endless......These Megalopolis's are so huge, that even if you've been to a spot, it can honestly feel like a lifetime since you pass it once again and yet you can pass by a spot everyday, but it always feels like you can never engulf it's colossal size in one drive or one trip. I miss the size of the city, but also am glad to be out of it in the same sentence.
@Abysal_JuggernautWow, I didnāt know VOCAL FRY existed 7 years ago! Linguists believe it came from young women at the university level who feared they would not be taken seriously in business or society because of their āgirlishā voices. What young women had not considered was how fantastically annoying this unnatural lowering of octaves would become, repelling others for different reasons!
@christopherp.hitchens3902I lived in Echo Park for 14 years and I was frequently harassed by the cops when walking home late at night walking home from my corporate job.
There would be White kids screaming and throwing up on the sidewalks, and coming out of the bars at 2am, but the cops would focus on me walking up the hill to my luxury apartment building instead.
I guess that my designer clothes, designer bag, work badge and the fact that I wasnāt drunk signaled to them that I didnāt belong in the neighborhood that I had already lived in for 6 years.
When my landlord started making unnecessary āimprovementsā like repaving the parking lot, and re-tiling the marble in the lobby, I knew it was time to go!
It was a ploy to get around rent-stabilization laws and jack up my already $2000 a month rent, so I moved to Hollywood for another rent stabilized place that was $500 cheaper and almost twice as large.
Though I miss Echo Park , 90% of the places that I loved are gone, and I havenāt been harassed by the police once in Hollywood in 4 years.
Fake humans smh
@nefariousmonroe7066Surf b roll from hawaii and mexico, as fake as the gidget surfing. The end of Sunset at boxes (as we called it) is real.
@johnkoch7386would love to see a revised or extended version of this. so fire. i love the LA culture/history
@damroyaltyxxiiThanks white people for making Los Angeles somewhat better !
Funny how OPENLY RACIST these Hispanic Americans are , and they don't even realize it ! š¤£š¤®
I love the series !
@chillwavez_NeuroverseI donāt have any sympathy for the gangs.
@YOLO2026-e4xThird world ghetto now. Thanks Democrat Marxist liberals. I resided there from 1975 to 1983 and loved it. My, how things have changed.
@mohawkdriver25044:55 its not racism. You dumb gang bangers brought it upon yourself.
@thecuckedduck9583Where is this lady? I feel like she is never on vice anymore !
@usernamesnotneededGangs are the scum of society, nothing racist about taking the trash out!
@Droppin_Deuces_On_YaRed Alert: White gal Vocal Fry ahead! Pretty good doc though!

Stop crying...some of these folks are committing serious crimes then say we're being targeted for being mexican. If you're innocent then you best speak to your fellow community members. Stop the violence
@tutashumahereyumrin the meantime, the DoD has been dumping thousands of tons of mutagenic chemical waste of the most intractable type just of the coast, off Catalina Island. You are going to have to retrieve all that, you know.
@adearthicalHomeless are there!
@teresanewcomb442Latinos ruin neighborhoods,they are like this in Mexico. They hate Americans, they like $s.
@teresanewcomb442Don't go to LA or they'll "Fu.k you up!!
