Take a tour of Churchill Downs' $200 MILLION new Paddock

Video Overview & Insights

Take an exclusive tour of Churchill Downs' brand new $200 Million Paddock

I get it and it needed to be done but also at the same time there's parts of that area (The old Jockey Club, the lower Paddock level, that old cafeteria for staff) I'm just going to miss. Glad 150 was my last Derby there.

Looks beautiful! Belmont Park is also undergoing major renovation, including to the track itself. Looking forward to seeing that unveil in 2026.

The narrator is downright ignorant. A waste of a good video.

A $200,000,000 paddock with no trees for shade. Saratoga is better.

Nice, but it will be empty most the time.

That’s how they’re able to charge high prices during big meets. SMH

What about the seats for us hou poloi? Is regular seating changed? How goes the infield? Have you thought about putting grass terraces in the infield??!!! Each lawn could be 2 feet higher than the one below it, so spectators could see the race some? I was in the infield when Tomy Lee won. I was ten. I barely caught a glimpse of brown fur. It was very disappointing to remember it.

This is why I always laugh when poor people say racing is dying, when in reality it’s poor people that are dying and have no future it’s the wealthy and capitalism that will always be enjoying

200 million on a paddock? C’mon

Very nice. BUT I really hate the astroturf inside the Paddock. Really really HATE it. If not using natural grass, then some sort of paving would have been better.

I don’t see that it does anything to enhance the experience for the horses or their safety and welfare. All I see here is luxury for the exceptionally wealthy humans. Talk about emphasizing class disparity. Sickening.

Incredible. Maybe Churchill can figure out how to grow grass for their turf course too

This looks AWESOME 💯 Thanks so much for sharing 🙏

My only complaint about Churchill Downs is when you are in the grandstand, you have to look at UL's ugly football stadium. I wish there was some way they could block the view of that monstrosity from the grandstand. Although, I will add that we haven't lost there since 2014.

CHURCHILL > keenland 🎉

Respectfully, no facility that requires the horses and horsemen to walk on the track to get from the barns to the paddock before the race is premier.

I guess I don’t like change because I hate this! I’m sure it’s great for super crowded days like Derby, but it’s sad for the regular days of the week when you could just grab a picnic table with friends right by the horses.

you got to be rich to go to the oaks or derby any more

What is the cost to get into the common area for a common person?

And they're off and coming down the stretch it is Chateaugay.
