Chris, I absolutely love your channel and your chill vibe.
Would be interested to know how often do you go back home to America to visit kids, family and friends. How long do you stay for? What is the costs of flying back to America. This has to be part of the yearly budget.

David Bowie once said "You need to get yourself as far out into the water as you can, and when you got to the spot where it just a little too deep and you are away from your comfort zone, thats the place you should be in." He was talking about Art at the time, but the same applies in with regards to everything in life.

I just buy ETFs, I don't risk it with single stocks and I find a nice combination of covered calls, dividend etfs and bonds suits me well. About 72.000 invested and 450 a month of passive income. I want to double it and live on it like you do.

I need new glasses. I have a prescription written by my opthamologist. Ive been told that Chinatown can cut lens, sell frames ,etc for a deep discount. I spent hours looking for this section on Monday but couldnt find. I did notice "shuttered" buildings. Is it possible that shops were merely closed early for holiday?

Ive been in Bangkok for a few weeks now and have started using the longtail boats for commutes when it makes sense. 17 THB vs $9 Grab. Plus no traffic.

Chris I’m running the numbers and I’m struggling with this a little. You showed your dividend stock in a recent video and most of them were under 5%. That’s less than you can get from a basic bond or term deposit in a bank. I can understand the one at the top of the list which was 15% or something but I don’t understand holding the rest? Surely VT or the S+P500 would be a better investment and just sell say 4% annually?

Chris, I was just having a conversation the other day about the comfort zone! I see older family members that retired to the recliner and it shows. I think doing things that stretch our comfort zone is a huge way to develop resilience, grow, and often leads to amazing experiences (or at least some funny stories).

I find that the Tory Richard aloha shirts 100% cotton wear very well. I can buy them at a discount on Nordstrom’s Rack. Before I just wore black high in tshirts now depending on the environment I’ll wear one of my aloha shirts. I realized how good the shirts were when I’m still wearing them and they look new after 5-10 years use. I know you make your shirts in Thailand but the shirts I buy are $80 each and last forever

I wish I could have finished my working timeline when you did. Nowadays, every job I'm seeing wants you to already have experience in that specific role, and additional skills/qualifications don't seem to matter to employers when you don't already have that specific experience. They generally feed your resume through a software now to see how well you match without any human interpretation, so people like me get flushed out at the first stage if they can't neatly put you in a box. Apparently, I have a problematic resume because I've changed sectors/roles so much in the past. Especially for the older ones like me, it's not just tough, it seems almost impossible to even get a rejection email. Just outright ignored. I REALLY miss the 90s 😂 If I'd seen your videos a few decades ago, I wouldn't be in this predicament, so it really cements the importance of everything you're teaching. You're literally saving lives with your inspirational videos.

You’re spot on as usual, Chris. I agree with all the points you made.
I took early retirement last month and moved to Chiang Mai. It’s been such a refreshing change of pace compared to life in the United States. Your videos helped inspire me to make the move overseas, so thank you for that. Things have been working out beautifully here.
I hope to see you around someday! Keep the great videos coming.
The biggest risks of being 50+, even if u are insured.. they are stroke, cancer, dialysis or kidney failure and mysterious diseases.. taking care of yr numbers might help.. bp number, cholesterol number, sugar level, salt intake etc..
@RaymanOnTheMoveSometimes in life the biggest risk is not to take one .
@mpower6004This is really embarrassing, but I'm 43 this year, with only 60k USD to my name (no other loans/mortgages etc...) However I'm extremely unhappy living in Korea. Everytime I visit South East Asia, my depression, anxiety, and other negative thoughts just evaporate, and I really want to move to either TH, VN, MY, or SG longterm / permanently. Is 60k enough to get started? Is it worth risking my relatively stable job I have to pursue true happiness? I've lived in 9 countries and visited more than 35 cities across the world, and South Korea is the only country that makes me feel absolutely miserable.
@SakuraSynapseThx for the content it’s fun and informative. I know you put a lot of effort into them 😊 take care
@LowEagleNothing ventured, nothing gained. Enjoy Thailand. Safe travels. Mahalo.
@garyt7232Do you buy new or used clothes, shoe every new destination
@Deok-w7fChris, I was like you. I studied for my certification exams. I was lucky enough to get training for free because I taught at a computer training center but I had to put in the time and take the risk to pass those tests.
Prior to that I was making $8 -$11 per hour putting reports together in spreadsheets. I still remember sitting in the parking lot of the testing center telling myself I really needed to pass the test so I could finally start making some decent money.
Needless to say, I passed the tests and was able to get a new job that paid twice as much as my current job. I'll never forget when out boss at the new job brought us all in a room and told us they had to pay the new guy $10k more per year than we were getting so they gave us all a $10k per year raise just to keep us. I bought a house and a new truck.
Nice videos and I think it would help the channel showing other places in Thailand besides Pattaya and Sukumvit in Bangkok. There is so much more in Thailand that you're missing out on
Same with Indonesia. I stopped going to Bali after discovering Java
How old were u at retirement
@Philippinesbound42Hit some villas in Hua Hin and Cheng Mai. I think I would hit paydirt to have a lap pool and a nice tropical house in those places.
You are the best travel guide anywhere.
Amazing content and videography. I was compelled to watch more than once.
Good choice in the Dri Fit, Moisture Wicking clothing. Designed to pull sweat away from the body. It looks hot and humid in Bangkok. We are going through an extended heat wave easily over 100 degrees in Southern California. It's a brutal heat especially on sensitive populations as elderly. I bought some DriFit athletic wear from JC Penney under Xersion brand, and bought more of the same type of athletic wear from Walmart under Athletic Works brand. It feels good to wear, looks stylish, and pulls the wetness off from the humidity.
Keep doing your thing. I learn a lot through your advice.
33.5baht per usd right now is solid.
Enjoy the time in Bangkok and the amazing walking options around benchakitti park love that place.
Great “uncommon, common sense” no BS content as usual.
@neilonthemove1481The reward: you have all 3 types of freedom!

👏
Bro Chris. You look better...more handsome in the new short sleeve shirt. Keep it up brother. Alohaa and Sawaadee Khrap 🙏
@ahmadazhariawang3051U live like local. Take care
@susah1253I'm curious about your nomadic lifestyle:
- Going from one small hotel room to the next.
- Never having a home base.
- The solitude of not being near close friends and family.
How do you cope with those issues?
What's your strategy when $20 rooms become $25 or $30 rooms (like in December)?
@dreamthreadDo you usually stay in the same hotel for a month at a time?
@dreamthreadThe biggest risk is to take no risk !
@RucsaculCalatorGreat video guy and loved the food choices. I think you spent $6 combined for those two healthy terrific meals. Take the risk is right!
@LukeTeenBangkok is awesome the heat is oppressive....
@Amt4ever$18 a night in Bangkok?
@boatyardofbrokenteethHey Chris. Just saw the head and shoulders. There is a law suit against many companies in regard to the toxic ingredients. Carcinogens, etc. I use Grok now and found a few brands that are safe. The one you have is on the bad list so you may want to look into that. A bunch of the recognizable brands are on the bad list. Not all there products but I m doing a deep dive b4 I buy anything now. There is poison out there! Cheers
@SlickSydneyI enjoyed this video on risk. Although it was on investing, it seems those "what if's" keep most from traveling. That comfort zone I see as an addiction.
@adrianalibre4876I used to be unemployed for about 2 years twice in my life. I did not experience hardship thanks to my savings. It is not easy to find applications of your energy in your 50s. I am glad that this guy can entertain himself without family and friends in Thailand. With AI more and more people will be forced out of job market. Thus, his experience can be needed to future hundreds of millions of forever unemployed people.
@davegordon6233I am in mid of 40s. I am dreaming of living with one bagpack for 1~2months overseas.😊
