Ten EXTREMELY Rare Animals:
1. White-bellied Heron: This massive bird, the second-largest heron in the world, is extremely sensitive to human disturbance. Some estimates suggest there may be as few as 60 individuals left, primarily surviving in its global stronghold of Bhutan.
2. Philippine Crocodile: Known as the rarest crocodilian on Earth, there are currently between 100 and 125 individuals left in the wild. They were nearly wiped out due to destructive fishing methods, such as dynamite fishing and nets, which turned them into unintended "collateral damage".
3. Roti Island Snake-necked Turtle: While no official population estimate exists, it is considered one of the rarest turtles in the world. Its wild population crashed by at least 80% because it was aggressively collected for the international pet trade before scientists even understood the basics of the species.
4. Bawean Deer: This species is rare due to its incredibly small range, found only on the 200-square-kilometer Bawean Island in Indonesia. There are estimated to be between 200 and 500 individuals left, a population size that is considered stable but remains vulnerable to natural disasters.
5. Javan Blue-banded Kingfisher: This secretive bird is found only on the island of Java, the most densely populated island on Earth. Because it depends on inland wetlands that are frequently drained for farmland, its population is estimated at only 50 to 249 mature individuals.
6. Chinese Crested Tern: Considered one of the rarest seabirds on Earth, its global population was estimated at between 30 and 49 birds in 2018. The species declined largely due to historic illegal egg collection and currently faces risks from hybridization with the closely related greater crested turn.
7. Mountain Chicken (Frog): This large Caribbean frog, which can weigh up to a kilogram, has a wild population estimated at only about 30 individuals as of 2023. While once heavily hunted, its catastrophic decline was primarily caused by the amphibian chytrid fungus, which wiped out 90% of the population on Dominica and caused them to vanish entirely from Montserrat.
8. Imperial Amazon (Sisserou): The national bird of Dominica, this large parrot has a surviving population of only 40 to 60 mature birds. Beyond habitat destruction, the species is struggling to recover because of intensifying hurricanes that destroy nesting trees and their extreme pair-bonding behavior; they rarely choose a new mate if one dies.
9. Addax: This desert-adapted antelope is one of the rarest mammals, with as few as 30 individuals estimated to remain in the wild across Chad, Mauritania, and Niger. Although they are built for the harsh Sahara, they are relatively slow-moving, making them easy targets for hunters with guns and vehicles.
10. Deserta Grande Wolf Spider: This is the largest species of wolf spider, with a 12 cm leg span, and its entire range is limited to a small patch of habitat on a single island. While there are roughly 4,000 left—a higher number than others on this list—this is alarmingly low for an invertebrate, as invasive goats and plants continue to destroy their hiding spots.

The government of India recently okayed a hydroelectric power project in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw which is considered a white bellied heron habitat. But unfortunately, since my government is basically run by ultra corrupt capitalist shitheads, they don't give a damn

@akshy2255And I seen sum mountain chicken in London zoo
@OliverHughes-y6xI’ve seen a Philippine crocodile in a zoo in wales
@OliverHughes-y6xSince it appeared more than once, is there a particular reason to say up to 249 individuals survive? Like starting at 250 they are classified differently or something?
@uhkvfjvrI wonder if hunters watch this list with a hardon
@soltcolt45063:43 what is this, Looney Tunes
@samig9032Amazing video ❤
@ΓιάννηςΤορνικιδηςA fisher is a large North American weasel. Somebody who fishes for a living is a fisherman.
@CalidrisJZIn the frog's clip it wasn't the fungus ALONE that wiped out 90% of the population in 1.5 yrs. It was the fungus PLUS 36 thousand being taken out of the wild cuz it was the unofficial dish. I imagine it took a hot minute for the every person to realize that an ingredient in there favorite dish was becoming increasingly rare and then unheard of. By then it was FAR too late...
@kripri-y5jI always enjoy your videos.
@catrook81460:07 would like to point out the fact that this is not a blue whale, it is a Bryde's whale, which you can tell by the three ridges on it's head.
@The_Real_Platypus711Please upload a video about the mysterious animals in the north woods like eastern cougarsCanadian lynx, Wolverine yeah basically they're just like a bunch of sightings, but no one knows ❤
@GriffinTheGoat123Would you do another vid on the animals with the smallest (natural or reduced) range? Things like the Devil's Hole pupfish are so cool to me for how they've somehow still held on
@albertmiller2Based on the name alone, the Mountain Chicken was the biggest surprise. 🐸😂 The snake-necked turtle is one of the coolest creatures I've ever seen. Thanks for spreading awareness.
@karengerhardt60086:12 it's NOT cute, that's literally that pet turtle from Gumball
@AresThePrimeRevealing the mountain chicken as a frog broke my brain 😂😂😂
@PapaWheelyyThe entire concept of dynamite fishing seems absolutely ridiculous.
@patoski357Out one animal that I think is personally the rarest animal on earth it’s the Ferdinan island giant tortoise only one that left in the world
@CourtneySmith-m1ySo many Indonesian endemic species are going to exticnt because our dumb president Would turn all the forest in Indonesia into palm oil plantations.
@zallmir3459The mountain chicken is a frog? I thought you were going to talk about the yamadori, a bird mentioned in The Restaurant of Many Orders. Makes as much sense as that the Bombay duck is a fish.
@pierreabbat6157🧐I see that kind of Heron in my Local Wetland, Giant, Shy, Grey Blue shades
Even thoo I'm tooo far from Bhutan & North East India...
I Must check it again 🧐🧐🧐
Interesting. Here in Indonesia, crocodile in our language is called Buaya.
@TFStormsI would be very happy, if you will make a video about rare Asian Cheetah!
@MihailK-r3mGood 👍
@Chandraathithan11Pretty chuffed with myself that I knew most of these animals from the opening picture with all 10 on it. Wasn't sure on the specifics of a few, mainly the kingfisher and tern, but got the Roti Island Snake-necked Turtle. This is why learning is important, just go on Wikipedia and get stuck in rabbit holes of knowledge. Thankful your channel increases awareness for the voiceless.
@aDaewooLanosThat spider is so cool 20:42
@vaya-dragon1998Can you make a video about rare butterflies?
@asp18202:45 buwaya means crocodile that name isn't just for that singular species anything can be called a buwaya (even our gov and politics)
@OcencreepergwenIt is bad, very bad
@lucianazorzan6832I've seen the Imperial Amazon in Dominica, they're absolutely stunning! <3
@chrisoconnor9521🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
@tecemdia9759The exotic pet trade is so damaging to wild species. 😢
@lauriemartin490Bruh, shouldn't we be celebrating the extinction of a giant scary spider species and not reintroducing it??
@DEGENERATORexeMake a video on how india has managed it's wildlife. You don't see many Indian wildlife struggling to survive and even through it struggle, government and people revive them.
This one deserves a dedicated video
How do tiny island animals not become horribly inbred ?
