Diners in New York City are spoiled for choice. On a single block, you might find a pizzeria, a noodle shop and a fine-dining institution, all of them stellar. How do you narrow more than 20,000 restaurants down to the 100 best?
In this video, our interim restaurant critics Priya Krishna and Melissa Clark are giving you a peek behind the scenes. They whittled their selections down until they had a list that represented the cityâs culinary greatness, across boroughs, cuisines, price points and styles.
I still want to try Tatiana.
Did your favorites make the cut?

for my house, itâs between the salad wrap and the panini, both are pretty tough to fuck up, and you can so walk down the sidewalk cramming one or two. HOWEVER i have been preferring the restaurant to the cafe since like, August? can that be right? Iâm pretty sure, so for the restaurant I would agree with Penny, where i get the freshwater fish since its texture has become basic to my whole approach to supper

About NYT Cooking:
Arenât critics supposed to be anonymous ?
All the food thatâs fit to eat (yes, itâs an official New York Times production).
So basically a bunch of stuffy unaffordable places no regular new yorker will visit. Got it.

Any critic whose adjectives donât go beyond âincredible â or âawesome â should seek out another career. Maybe janitorial service. These two are airheads.
@jeffkingston6590These forgettable gals lost cred with their incessant use of cliche phrases like âdialed-inâ, âdiverseâ and âon pointâ. People of Letters? Nope. People of food? Nope.
@cmiksee1932There are no plant based restaurants on this list.
@rashmi411I LOVE food and I love the idea and art of everything but I am so picky and will never be able to appreciate so much of this. Makes me sad!! (and yes I have tried the best of the best and it did not change my pallet! I WISH)
@greenboi300Typical Upper West Side yentas.

@chuckinator1000It's all so overdone, it's a symptom of late stage capitalism. Making food for the top 1%. Disgusting. Give me fresh rustic simple farm to table. You can have the foo foo.
