I had a cheap, simple Garmin, Forerunner 45. I bought a more expensive one, Forerunner 265. Total waste. Sold it, and went back to a simple one, Forerunner 55. Does the job perfectly, at a fraction of the price, and with far less frustration and confusion. 😅

Have to disagree a bit, the tactix 8 does everything the fenix 8 does plus a little extra for roughly the same price. That alone makes it a better value.

I’ve been using a Garmin Fenix 7 Solar and I absolutely love it. I’m a triathlete during the summer and spend a lot of time ski touring in the winter, so having one watch that does everything well is a huge plus. The topographic maps are fantastic for backcountry adventures, and the TrackBack feature gives me extra confidence when I’m out exploring new terrain. It does everything I need it to do and has been a great all-around watch for my training and adventures.

forerunner 965 changed my life ! i learned to run and now signed up to a ultra im 17 btw love the sport im swimmer and do pro triathlon but i wanna transfer to trailrunning ! best watch for the price and value ! And its cheaper now bcs the 970 got released 😅 win win ! if you are starting with running or are a amateur pro this is the best watch to buy from garmin ! perfekt batery

I got the Fenix 8 AMOLED. Why? I moved from Apple Watch 6, I needed battery life. I wanted a sports watch with smartwatch capabilieties (notifications, phone calls, payments) and the Venu was... fine I guess, I also considered Forerunner 970, but I wanted to treat myself on my 40th birthday. Did I overspend? YEP. With intent and knowledge that I'm getting more than I need? Also yes! :) Life is not all about efficiency.

Upgraded from Forerunner 55 to 265s last week. Loving it so far with better metrics and data tracking. But the inbuilt music was something that really sold me.

The 965 has all the adventure software features as much as the other watches, it just lacks the more rugged nature that the "adventure" watches have, but that's not proven to be an issue. It'll happily run for several days without a recharge, even recording hiking activities with navigation switched on. Compatible with Garmin Explore just as well, so you can hook up to more detailed offline maps on the phone mid-hike. Sync your own points of interest and everything else you need offline ahead of time as well.
