Today we make the beef stroganoff recipe that I wish my mom made me as a kid. Beef stroganoff was always a little bland but anything over noodles I love. We fix all the issues today by using the braising technique and instead of using steak, we use short ribs and some high-quality mushrooms. The recipe is a dream.
Oh man! Short ribs for the stroganov meat is a fantastic idea! Thanks for this great recipe.

So I made this recipe about a month ago and it came out pretty great. There are some changes that I would personally make.
The biggest thing, is when cutting the carrots, the volume of carrots should be equivalent to the onions. I definitely was missing the carrots after. Everything else came together beautifully. I used cheap red wine. I think I used more garlic than the recipe called for but not a whole lot.
I enjoyed it with egg noodles, but I did only have access to the cheap kind. I had access to a really good paparadelle, and I loved it more with that.
I wish I had a pressure cooker and I wish that I could use it for this recipe because it does take a while to cook.
I'm going to attempt to freeze it. I'm optimistic that this will freeze well, but we'll see.
I'd give this recipe four out of five stars. The only reason that it's not five stars is that it's a very time-intensive recipe and that the recipe on the site should reflect carrots by weight. But I would definitely make it again and again.

Tried a lot of versions of this dish and it's just the best! I did use a really nice chuck roast. I do add a little bit of lemon juice in the sauce, the added acidity makes it pop. Again, a fantastic dish.

That looked like a hell of a lot more two cloves of garlic. Will add more when I prep the mushrooms. Pots already in the oven.

I started making your version of this a couple years ago and I would not bother using anyone elseâs recipe. Thank youâ„ïžMy family thanks youâ„ïž

How can you call it Stroganoff without sour cream...that's what defines the taste, and the look.

PATREON:
Cooked this recipe according to the recipe in the description. The first attempt was stroganoff soup. The technique here is awesome, just needs some tweaks.
1. Use 2x beef
2. Only use enough wine to deglaze, and then a little more for flavour. Don't drown the vegetables in it.
3. Use only 3 cups broth
4. Add beef bouillon for an extra kick of beefy flavour
5. Use wide egg noodles unless eating with a spoon and chopsticks.
There...fixed it!

@philiphaller1018Sorry, you lost me at short ribs. $$$. Itâs should be an affordable comfort dish IMO
@EricJM1This recipe is definitely one of my favorites.Thank you for all the recipes you shared. Kind regards from the netherlands
@MikepalmerableI made this with beef cheeks and it was amazing!
@meganpie1111Excellent, đ that's pretty much exactly how I make it. Haven't done it with braised meet, due to time constraints, but that is definitely they way to go.
Great video, great job. đ

@kaylaantonio6460Bravo. You have an amazing range of skills , and I never cease to be impressed with your wonderful interpretations. Thank you Stephen.
@GolfCoachBuddyFantastic! Made per directions. Best stroganoff I've ever had. And I know what you meant about your mom's version. My mom made beef stroganoff using the Schilling dry mix packets. Hey it was the 70's! Still liked it even though her beef was always overcooked and tough pieces of sirloin.
@gd-mn2ywCan I come hang out with you for a weekend ?
@edmondsstephen1531Iâm watching this wishing I could reach through the screen and taste it.
Meat is a luxury these days.
You are one of my favorites! Keep them coming.

@davidk4682This is both an excellent spin on the traditional dish, and a helpful, clear tutorial. I will be trying this. Good stuff man.
@cynthialong688drool. well done. I'm glad I found this channel. Baby Portobellos were on sale so my mind gravitated to something like this!
@6spdkegFuck. Yes. Making this this weekend.
@magicjerk2641I donât know how big your mouth is but those âbit size piecesâ would never fit in my mouth and me be able to swallow without choking.
@grrriallen7192Love this dude
@Laverita1103Nut meg adds good flavor but use it sparinglyđ
@adamdelarozza1985I live in central Florida so my access to quality ingredients, even down to the selection of egg noodles is very limited. With that being said I used this braising technique for the stroganoff and it was lights out. I used to work as a waiter and bartender at high end steak houses on the west coast and it was that good.
@BonhamskinMaking this first time a bit more than a year ago, it was great. Wife asked for this for Mothers Day so I'll be working this recipe once again! Thanks for all you've done to grow our cooking chops!!
@charliejohnson7703I've made this a few times now, and every time, it is absolutely God tier every time. I like to use 1lb of beef chuck roast and 1.5lb bone in short ribs. I recently started adding a heaping tablespoon of Dijon and I'm definitely going to continue doing it in the future.
I also started making pot pie crust and baking a disc's size of that and adding it on top of my individual bowl of stroganoff and omitting the noodles completely.
A side note, leftovers freeze incredibly well.
strOOHganoff hahahahaha. Look at this creature trying to speak
@LuciferhelidonThat amount of short rib in Seattle would cost about $50-60
@twopointfiveshepPOLISH HERE!!! HES JUST FORGETTING TO TOP W A DOOP OF SOUR CREAM ( OR YOGURT)
@bryonynoszka8378Looks great but no mustard in your stroganoff bro??? I would def add a large tablespoon of stone ground to this recipe
@chrissain600This recipe is divine!! Wow thank you so much for your delicious recipe and helpful instructions!
@rebeccasanchez3953May taste ok, but it photographs like baby shit.
