The Cannabis Question I Full Documentary I NOVA I PBS

Video Overview & Insights

Official Website: https://to.pbs.org/3AP3DP6 | #TheCannabisQuestion

I smoked ganj for 50 years while it was illegal
Shortly after it became legal
I decided it was sucking the spark out of me
So I quit
It has been almost 2.5 years and I still choose to not smoke
And feel better for it
I have friends who still continue to indulge
I am glad to be out of the cannabis fog
If I ever decide different it's there but it's not so much an addiction but a choice
And I choose not to

As state-legalized cannabis spreads, NOVA explores its little-known risks and benefits.

NOVA investigates the story of cannabis from the criminalization that has disproportionately harmed communities of color to the latest medical understanding of the plant. What risks does cannabis pose to the developing brain? How much do we know about its potential medical benefits? As cannabis becomes socially accepted, scientists are exploring its long-term health consequences.

We have receptors in our brains for it, our ancestors ate it. End of story. If you have a problem it’s not with marijuana, it’s with your neurosis, and weed helps with that.

For a Strange reason I have this memory in my mind with an event that MIGHT have happened in central America around 300 years ago in Mexico I think or somewhere close to Mexico. In this memory that I hold There's a NATIVE AMERICAN woman near a river picking nice flowers when suddenly She comes across an unusual plant (Cannabis plant/Marijuana) then she touches it's leaves softly then right before she's about to get closer to the plant to smell it a dark green skinned demon appears to her right and they make eye contact (the demon's eyes (sclera) are yellowish and the pupil small and glowing red) then the demon says to her in the common native tongue from that region at that time to gain her trust (give her the impression that even though he looks wicked and demonic on the outside his intentions are "good") : Smell that FLOWER For IT was MADE By NATURE For ALL THE PEOPLE HERE ON THIS EARTH WITH LOVE FROM ABOVE then gave her a long smile and vanished.

BEFORE YOU HATE ME.... IT'S JUST A RANDOM THOUGHT THAT RANDOMLY POPPED INTO MY MIND I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS EVENT ACTUALLY HAPPENED ! Sigh... GUYS I SWEAR ON MY KING AND LIVING GOD JESUS CHRIST THAT I AM NOT TRYING TO START A REVOLUTION HERE SO PLEASE DON'T GET MAD AT ME.

God Bless !

~20-30 % of people on the autism spectrum have epilepsy. I think it also depends on the severity of the autism. I’m not 100% sure if more severe autism makes you more likely to have epilepsy.

I’m on the autism spectrum (Asperger’s syndrome) and never had this problem. Thank God

It is likely that the dose of cannabis for each person is individual to achieve a therapeutic effect with fewer possible side effects of overdose. For example, for one person this may be an overdose, but for another it is just a therapeutic and safe dose. You won’t know until you start gradually trying to increase the dose and find yours. Each organism is individual, even medications from the pharmacy work differently for each person with different purity of deviations. Presumably, based on the data that I came across, those who want to quit smoking or take orally to restore sensitivity to smaller doses, this can be done more safely without severe forms of abstinence, gradually reducing the dose a little bit at a time, and for sleep and problems with psychosis, you can probably try taking CBD

I think this is very unfair. What they did to the veteran who risked his life for our country and gave him a felony for something that they did to him. I think that this program should’ve been able to help him get out of that situation whereas I see that the white lady who in the white children were able to fly to a whole Nother country bring back a drug that is considered illegal here and nothing happened to them. I don’t know if this is racially motivated or what but I think that is very unfair that this was very passive when it came to person that was black, you guys are very passive and totally ignored it that should’ve been the biggest issue on here. This person can’t have a job they’re homeless and it’s all because of the United States trying to help them being in the military. This should’ve been acknowledged, not passive. I’m so sick of this systematic racism and then people just ignored by ignoring it. You just a much a part of it as anyone who is this impact these people’s lives.

The perfection of creation teach us that there is a plant for every ailment that we may suffer. Cannabis is medecine and consuming it disorderly and on a compulsive mode is no good.

@MonstersMaster

Extroverts are so, so overrated. Toxicity without sensitivity, the rule of the noise, the louder the better. That's one of the reasons "we" got here, the greatest dystopia ever, growing noise, diminishing hearing. People want you to answer their questions with a correct answer that they already know, it's domestication of the citizen, disgusting

Ban alcohol instead of glorifying it. It's the killer on the road, in relationship and at work. It's been legal in Canada for almost a decade and no one is jumping off cliffs.The benefits of CBD oil outshine anything the pharmaceutical industry can offer for pain.

@DennisCambly
@

The pharmaceutical industry doesn't want free cannabis at all. They control the medicine market. So if we're allowed to grow our own cannabis, they'll lose out on a lot of money. It's crazy that they ban things that can be found naturally. It's all about the money, while so many people benefit from it... and precisely because it helps so much, it's banned because they can make money with it... Long ago, we extracted all our medicines from nature... but since the inception of this industry, based on petroleum, everything that can help people is banned or placed behind a paid barrier. We simply need to get back to nature.

Wow, this comment section is so overly positive; sadly, it doesn’t tell the whole story of marijuana’s impact on the brain. The problem with any drug is that the user tends to love it. It’s like a bad relationship, even when it harms you, there’s an element of your brain in denial because you don’t want to break up. There are many younger people and some older who have suffered and are suffering from cannabis induced psychosis, but no one wants to admit that it’s a real and present danger. At the end of the day, addiction is addiction and plenty of people are addicted to marijuana/THC and in denial about the real dangers of marijuana, especially today’s high concentration THC products. Even when confronted with the whole truth; there will always be the ones who will deny the damage being done until it’s too late. There are of course people who benefit greatly, i.e., epileptics, but that does not mean everyone should be using it at will for anything and everything.

It helps any thing it's just a matter of how it's used and managed. Everything we need for survival is put here not made in a lab . Fear is the biggest reason someone wouldn't use it and that's due to the government. The government scares the population to use what they deem usable. The effects of lab made drugs are horrible to no end I'm 47 I can say that from experience

@HeidiWilliams-t6q

It's not for everyone. I smoked it when I was younger but it didn't last long. At 38 I started up again but just very very very small amounts. I have tripped several times on it from doing to much. But I quickly found that sweet spot I use weed in a pipe and take two hits and that's it. I can't smoke it though the day because it truly slows me down and it causes uncomfortable. But it's up to the person in the end

@HeidiWilliams-t6q
