Life is hard, but sometimes we find other people make it easier, by, well, just being them. It’s something about them, something not many people can put their finger on. So, I did some research, and I found that unsurprisingly, sharing and understanding our thoughts and feelings equally and empathetically is the way to go- but how?
If everything feels like too much lately and you don’t know how to explain it, Clara Hartley’s anxiety quiz could be a useful first step. Sometimes having words for the pattern already helps.

@DanTheFlordiaMan0:30 Okay? So could I.
@Add_InfinitumWhere I volunteer, most folks are having the worst day, week, year of their lives. I stopped asking how are you? And started asking how long have you lived in town name it leads to pathways of conversation not dwelling
@julienonyasHumor 1 trillion times better most of the time
@revolutioninc7081Active listening is so important that I, as a medical student in Egypt, am studying it in my curriculum. Any doctor should be actively listening, not just therapists as it has so many posting effects on patients.
@youssifao_1277dam i do a lot of these without realizing it
@Mlac_.I skipped after half video he is just yapping
@lizardsquad6628Funny you used the dale carnegie quote. His book "how to win friends" is basically what you outlined and it's like a hundred years old
@LicherousThe premise that you should listen like a rapist is much more interesting. What kind of intentionality does a rapist have that allows for this? Its not exactly active listening. Really get in the rapist’s psyche
@mist-u6eI watched this video when it was new and I actually applied the tech. It genuinely work. Got to the point where I do it subconsciously.
Although I think for most people like I did, the biggest struggle was feeling disingenuous when doing it the first time because you don't feel like you're interested. I overcame that by doing it a bunch of times a realizing I genuinely like listening to people's story and ended up me genuinely interested to what they want to say so I keep asking.
Although sometimes it does become a therapy session for the person you're listening to and they sometimes share personal stuff. You can actually see them getting kinda happy and glad that you want to hear them out. I don't mind tho but sometimes it does drag out and idk how to stop them because I can't just suddenly stop. So I just let them talk until they're tired.
I also ended up getting a girlfriend but I attracted an avoidant. We recently broke up tho. But she still like to keep me around tho and talk because I guess I'm the few people that actually listens but yet she broke up with me? So yea, If you've been in a relationship with an avoidant, you know how it is. And I can't cast her out too cuzz I still care about her. Plus, she self harms and have suicidal tendencies which why she broke up with me because she said she felt like a liability, so yea. Least I can do is help her by still being available to talk and listen cuzz she doesn't have the most quality of friends and she knows it.
i think i am an active listener based of what u have said, but that is usually online, while texting, or with people im close to, how can i replicate this with people i know well without making them feel like im a creep, im kinda bad with body language
@A-ClassAsset“Reality is often disappointing”

@nivethonj5944The Solid Snake method : repeat briefly what the other said with a question mark. Active Listening?
@DivingHawkerBeen doing this without realising lol, maybe because my brothers a psychologist I’ve picked up some of his traits
@hellorengoku-j4mI have a close friend growing up who naturally does this. Kinda of learnt it naturally from him and honestly even though I’m super shy and anxious. Just doing this makes people open up to you even if you have nothing creative to say.
@thanks9750I will do it in Snake style
@DaesDroolMoesRecently i found something about myself i was always thinking why everyone keeps on telling me about them even if i have never met them and its just through even msgs so it was bcz of the active listening not kind of active listening that we normally do but during the convo isee the world through their perspective and when i do this i know what kind of emotion to potray or what is on their mind without them saying it which make them feel she understands us i would do all this stuff without knowing i do it so as of experience i would say that even in convo if you just see the world from there perspective it will help alot and eventually it will be more easier because there are people with same mindsets just diffrent experiences and you would also see how similar people are sometimes
@atta-ur-rehmanniazi1501😂
@SaúdeContaAll my kids could read before kindergarten. It's not really that incredible
@dirtybubblerisingHow do I actively listen to this vid 😂
@anujarane5570Active listening sounds easy until you realize you’ve been waiting for your turn to talk your entire life 💀
@TheInsideDudeI was doing this and not even realizing it❤😂
@Cloudy_The_randomnessi just start doing it this week but damn being active listener is actually hard and requires effort , my brain kept switching to passive listening after few exchanges
i will report my progress update after a month
The only problem with being an awesome listener is that people become too comfortable talking and then it becomes less of a conversation and more of a monologue
@expai123bro this is what chatgpt uses lol
@FionaShreksonI feel like reading before kindergarten isn't that unusual no? I learned at about 3 or early 4.
@johnnickfanaccount3492I do this since forever and it just makes you more and more frustrated with people. Because you yourself also have the urge to share about your life, but they won't magically also actively listen to you. So now I'm the therapist, but still have nobody to talk to and people love talking to me because they can finally say what they wanted to say and even further develop the habbit of not asking a single question. It's nice for a brief moment, because it actually works and gives you an advantage, but it doesn't work for long-term connections because you will not get it back.
@krauterfrischkase8939Thumbnail has a completely different meaning if you read it in an Italian accent
@SirMatthewPlease please please teach me how to do the opposite of this please!
@rhysbaker7456Sounds like making others feel heard makes you happy :)
@bastian-wimmer6:04 frantically searching how to talk to people naturally and casually
@archiebrown9869Listen like therapist.
@SumanAnand-r9mThis is just basic human interaction is it not? I thought it was standard to listen and not just hear
@Bananaman74799Listen like a therapist act like a maniac
@vaibhavsisodia3578is it really that uncommon to learn how to read before kindergarten?
@MooTV"The rapist " 🙏🏻
@rafaelerza1498least ai generated video
@angelica-m1v9v"he could read before kindergarten." -- is that not normal..? Books for young kids are a pretty huge market. Might have mainly pictures, but there are certainly words.
@thuynderUm no thanks. I'd rather not.
@NalolololListen to understand not to reply. Replying is something you do after they speak not during. 😮
@SanjitaNickCollinetI feel like im generally pretty good at listening to other people, but that i am so different in my upbringing and how i am as a person that other people have colparatively less ability to listen or empathize with me.
I do have autism and trauma and stuff
