I am literally risking missing an England vs Argentina goal for this video. My content better become Oscar-worthy after this! 🏴⚽🤣
If you open a sound effects library, you’ll find thousands of options. But after years of editing videos, I realized that most of them barely get used. The truth is, a few simple sound effects can do most of the storytelling work.
In this video, I break down the three sound effects I use in almost every edit: whooshes, risers, and impacts. I’ll show how they shape movement, build tension, and highlight important moments in your story. And once you understand how they work, you can combine them to guide your viewer’s attention and make your videos feel far more cinematic.
Genius. Instant Sub. I came researching for that sub bass drop for a sudden speed ramp/ zoom but this video just caught my eye. Amazing stuff.
I’ll also share a small bonus sound effect I use all the time for precise edits. And if you want help finishing your own story-driven videos, you can check out the Story Starter Kit linked below.

The value you bring with these videos is brilliant Tim, after dropping a few videos I’m realising, it’s time to go back to the drawing board and sharpen up the fundamentals of video making that you are sharing here, keep up the great work we need creators like you :)) 💯💪🏽

CHAPTERS:
Learning Davinci Resolve for my cooking tips channel. It was good that you helped me expand my thinking beyond just whooshes and how they can make an abrupt transition better. I have saved your video to watch later so I can come back and review. I really liked the layering sound effets idea. Good stuff. Thanks.

just got the The Story Sound Pack, can't wait to use it in my next vid. Looks like a pretty comprehensive pack. To be honest I haven't used many sound effects, some nature, some camera clicks and tried to use the sounds from the music to match the transitions the best I could, but these should be fun to play with, and after watching your vid, I can see the value they can add. Thanks
