Video Overview & Insights

Head to https://yt.link/RORdZOb to get my favorite Beyond Meat products!

Sorry for the muted audio at 11:15. Some loser-ass music publisher claimed it because there was like a tiny bit of music playing in the background of the TikTok. Universal Music Group u better COUNT YOUR DAYS

15:00 the ā€œeverything should be cheaper, and everyone should be paid moreā€ contradiction has ONE solution: stop buying from businesses that prioritize executive and shareholder payouts. This means basically ANY business that is publicly traded.

Inflation happens when there is too much money - but that too much money is clearly not in our pockets. It is in the pockets of the investor class. Which seems absolutely hopeless, EXCEPT the investor class has one core weakness - they need you to adopt what they invested in.

At my big age of 34? 35? Somewhere in there…having been to libraries, malls, and parks aplenty, and DEFINITELY having done far too many drugs to even be alive, I can tell you with certainty that the people who attend these things have no children. Which, sick for them. Love that for them. But damn. The best part of my day is nap time. And not because I don’t love my kids! Because I’m f*****g exhausted. We love the library, and the park, and not doing drugs anymore! We hate that we live in the asscrack of the country (Florida) because we lost our home to a hurricane in 2022 and still haven’t fully recovered. I guess what I’m saying is…these people have a LOT of time to waste. If I had time like that, I’d be able to read a grown-up book again! Shit, I miss that!
Great target demographic if you’re looking to sell very low quality for very high prices because famous I suppose. When I was (the median age of these tik tok people you’re showing) I was working 90hrs/week (no, I’m not joking.) …and that was over a decade ago. Back when you could walk into a Teavana, buy a can of matcha powder, a loose-leaf tea steeper AND ā€œdispenserā€ (goddamn that was the epitome of technology, I miss those,) AND the little wooden chasens and for about $40, you had enough matcha to get you through half a year of one, six months of another you know? But my generation literally did begin drinking it before it was cool (again,) except we made it unhealthy by bringing our matchas to hookah lounges…so I cannot speak to buying a SEVEN DOLLAR LATTE OF ANY KIND. Nope, fugazi! I still have a chasen (wooden matcha whisk stirrer thing,) and I miss Teavana stores…

Edit: I’m definitely 34. Had to look at the calendar damn (I’m postpartum, not stupid.)

I honestly find it so annoying when people just buy stuff for the sake of it and not because they genuinely like it. Whether it’s for the name, the brand, or the bragging rights of having something exclusive. For example, Calvin Klein recently did a very exclusive drop with Jungkook of BTS and there was this girl that bought a piece she can’t even fit just to say she got something…….So instead of it going to someone that could actually wear it, it’s just sitting in this girl’s closet. Speaking of which, I can’t stand limited/exclusive drops that make people hurry up and buy anything because it could be sold out before they get the chance to save up, get the day off work, etc. Don’t these businesses like money? Why aren’t you giving everyone the chance? I get only being able to afford a certain amount of product to sell, but I’m talking about big brands that very clearly have massive followings

In my country pop-up shops are tiny shops that rent the property for a little bit to sell their stuff
This stuff is just glorified bougee farmer's market. And the farmer's markets I frequent have a lot more to offer than this

Last year there was a Hellman's Mayonnaise brand activation pop up in NYC that a friend and I went to bc we thought it would be funny. It was an art gallery of mayonnaise themed pieces curated by the subway takes guy and he was supposed to walk us through the pieces but he was clearly having some kind of personal emergency because he spent the whole event hiding in the corner talking really intensely on the phone so my friend and I just stood around getting drunk on free champagne and wondering if we could snag one of the Hellman's Mayonnaise brand jumpsuits the staff were wearing

Abysmal take on Rhode Island. Connecticut is the fake state of new england, it's a highway to new york and nothing else. Rhode island is awesome

One of my favorite popups was actually the Arcane x Bearology Pop-up a bit ago. If the people hosting the pop-up it can definitely work it's just a lot of times it doesn't feel that way

6:47 woah woah woah, if you want to be correctly referred to as ā€œangry tank top guyā€, you need to correctly identify a ā€œbox of waterā€ vs a ā€œbottle of waterā€. C’mon Marc, we expect better from you by now 10:11 ā€œWar. Is. I work in the packaging industry, and it's been so grounding to really see how overrated consumerism is. It's all the same crap over and over again. No, really!

Most of your big name brands are using the same suppliers for packaging, I'd imagine it's the same for the product. Small brands upcharge, but large brands upcharge less and make more due to economy of scales. I once saw two products (say a supplement) with the EXACT same ingredient label but different advertising, and it was confirmed to me it's the same damn pill.

TLDR: Fancy products are often all the same (grain of salt) and usually just come down to packaging. Buy yourself an airless pump jar, paint it gold, and toss some standard lotion in there to feel fancy.

Everything since the pandemic has been a prolonged LSD-tinged anxiety dream, because what the fuck is even happening anymore? Let me POP UP into Hell real quick and see if what's going on over there is better than what's happening on Earth.
