The SECRET to GREAT BALL STRIKING with DRIVER, FAIRWAY WOODS and IRONS
Video Overview & Insights
What is the secret to great ball striking with driver, fairway woods and irons? Well it might just be something so simple that you have been getting wrong this whole time. In this video Ali will show you the subtle differences between the various clubs to improve your golf. Wether your are a senior golfer or just someone who needs golf tips this video will surely help you.
I discovered this at the range last week and my mind was truly blown. I was hitting through the ball and noticed that my strikes were more pure. For simplicity, I look one club head length before and after the ball depending on my club.

Succinct and to the point. As a baseball/hockey player, I never watched ball or puck. And, to be honest with you, my best shots in golf never come with a memory of me seeing contact, so this all makes very good sense. The fairway wood is a beast, though, and I'm not really sure how control it with distance. I think an additional note to this is to not think about compression too much because then the feel is too much top to bottom. Just my 2 cents...

00:00 Introduction
I’m 75 with horrible arthritis. As a result in a life threatening accident I can’t straighten either arm. About 160 degrees compared to 180 . Honestly all my friends can’t believe I can even play to begin with. My best and favorite club is a Tour Edge 3 fairway wood. Sadly the longest I can hit is 120 to 130. Occasionally a 150. I’m anxious to try this concept. May not go farther but should help with less miss hits I hope. Thx for the video.

That’s interesting and how would one find their ball if you don’t look at the ball.?

Basically after watching over 25 videos over the past hour or so about best practice and how to improve golf swing for better accuracy and improving skill… no one seems know… I’ve seen so many conflicting bits of advice… do this for a better swing, next video don’t do that it’s killing your golf swing. Another video keep your eyes focussed on the ball what many people do is take their eyes off the ball too early and it ruins their swing… this guy… don’t look at the ball it’s killing your swing… so as a newbie who doesn’t know who to listen to… I’m just going to do my own thing and learn on my own, none of you make sense and can’t seem to agree on what’s actually best. I feel like if you YouTube golf advice people got into a room together you'd all just argue. The only consistent thing you all say to do is make sure you swing… after that it’s any man’s guess.

What kind of equipment is he using to get this data on screen
@julianrodriquez9105I was taught to look at the front of the ball not the back
@nigelliam153I'm concerned about topping the ball if I go for low point past the ball. I can't get my head past that.
@Memphis-richI've gotta try that!
@vasonar😂 You say the ball is static as it falls off the tee.
@robertvaughan1051For a while now, I have been looking in front of the ball where I want the club to brush and it works. Surprising how the club wants to go where you are looking.
@bobbys4327You can't hit anything if you dont look at it....
@CKC19Just came across this video. I have been practicing this for months in my garage and it definitely has improved my ball striking! The "aiming in front" with the irons is way easier to do than the "aiming behind" with the driver.
With the aiming behind technique you have to experiment with tee height and ball position more. It definitely works, but it takes some driving range time to see exactly where you need to set up to get the desired results
One last - I'm struck by how effortless your swing was in achieving a near 300yd drive... there's a lot to learn from seeing that.
This is a good video, Whenever I would focus on the ball, I wouldn't hit a good shot. After seeing this video on where to focus your hitting point on all clubs and understanding why, it was very helpful. Great instructional video.
@jayblackdeer6039Taylor thank you! It works!
@mikeshepherd7574Where would you focus with a mini driver?
@Steve-jq4stEvery clip I still frame of Pros...on contact, even slightly after contact they are definitely looking at the ball...
@georgediamond5309This works well for me for both driver and Irons.
@MikeSmith-my1toWonderful video - very helpful. Thanks!
@alansoiefer7766So true. Learnt this the hard way. Thank you
@ricnew1466Very commonsensical.
@SkiptubeExcellent best lesson ever
@michaelsmithbox120848The ball is the target, Maruchi. #marooch
@Papa-BogeyI especially love this advice on par 3's. I set up the ball three inches behind someone else's divot. Huge visual aid. Trust your club and trust your swing.
@tomfantasia8408For my driver i stare at the back edge of the club head, this helps me keep my head back and still & allows me to hit up on the ball
@scottyk_cdvi5650Great help. Very insightful.
@mr555harvAnother long winded European golf instructor.
@detroitbadboy9802Impact is all that matters, because the ball doesn’t care. The ball doesn’t know who you are and the ball doesn’t care how you swing. What Ali is explaining is the best way to get there (more consistent, solid contact). It takes a little practice, but once you get used to not looking at the ball when you swing, you will be glad you found this video !!!
@jmf54"Don't look at the ball."... I figured this out myself a couple years ago. 😅 (Don't recall any other on-line coach with this tip.)
Of course, AT has a more refined explanation than my rudimentary analysis.
I think I'll stick around and see what other gems AT has to offer!
2:20 2 to 3” ahead 3w 1” … weight left side tip … D 3”b right side tilt for D
@eco4145best lesson ever
@bayusaputraaaaCan't wait to try. After a great drive, it's depressing to chunk the next one. Practice yesterday at looking in front of ball for irons, before watching video....now will look way beyond. Excited to put into practice.
@jim5346I can get the low point ahead but hit the ball low on the face.
@timothycarryI have chronic lifting disease, been battling that for 10 years, watched the video about ball striking,
By moving the left hip back I’m able to hit the ball much better. This even helps when I lift trying to see the ball, still managed to get it in the air, just not as high. Gained distance with this tip too! Worked immediately, I’m amazed, cause once I start lifting, I can’t quit!🤬🤬🤬
Excellent videos & tips, some of the best I’ve found!👏👏👏👍👍👍
Excellent assessment. Itching to go onto the range to try out. Many thanx Sir

Will definitely be trying this tip on driver. Immdialed in with irons/hybrids but driver is still inconsistent. Cheers
@garethwilliams6474Thanks for the tips they seem to be helping
@martinpriestman5395This really works! I'm hitting nice shots with my 3 wood now, higher and with a slight draw. Thank you!
@bobbyrayatkinsonIt's working for me Thanks for the Great video instruction. Breaking 90 now and occasionally into the mid '80s. Added a little tempo control and the balls are flying great to the target.
@canyoncruzr3462This does nothing 😂😂😂
@PiePyeTotally agree Ali that looking ahead of the ball and most times (90%) you will strike the ball better. However, trying to follow the ball is very difficult. We (our eyes) are trained to always keep the eye on the ball and looking ahead brings in the eyes ahead swing that feels good hard to see the ball. Good training tool though.
