you lost in generalities... talking about all kinds of stuff, but not sloth, its roots and remedies (opposite virtues).. Please check this video on sloth (from St. Anne Parish Dixon). Maybe you will benefit, learn something. It is a good intro to sloth. It is titled: .....Lost and Found: Combatting the Seven Capital Sins Talk 2 (Sins of the Younger Son)

I have been randomly thinking about it again, and here is the slop i managed to make: Sloth is an underrated and horrifying sin. It is literally what mainly ruins the dreams for most people. Have you never had moments where the only thing you had to regret is your own lack of action? I'm sure almost everyone had. Sloth can even appear unconscious, you might think you're being strategic by not doing something you should, but it's self-delusion. Perhaps it is sloth that comes out of fear. I would say sloth is strongly tied to fear, the fear of doing something that you should to achieve your dreams. By telling yourself "that's not for me, it's too above and beyond, i'm just a common man capable of nothing" you bind yourself in invisible sloth. And even knowing this isn't enough to solve it. There might even be a certain amount of sloth in everyone, you think you're doing enough from time to time, when you are actually underperforming. I am personally moving through life slower than other people for sure, and it's really painful. It was only a bit more wisdom and experienced that i lacked, to exploit the opportunities i had before.

I am paralyzed with terror, anhedonia, and avolition. Stopped medication two years ago and just don't feel human. Constantly question if I am evil.

I grew up in a dysfunctional household. Between 0 to 6, I was already abused, physically, mentally and sexually. My mother neglected me from an early age, and I was left hungry in the front garden to stuff my face with whatever I could find on the ground. I grew very sickly. I was constantly in pain. And I was out of energy. I could hardly move, and if I did, I would do so slothfully. My mother had rich siblings abroad, and that's where my grandmother lived 99% of the time. When she visited us, once a year, the family made an effort to look comfortable. So, when she saw how I walked and moved about, she used to think I was spoiled and lazy. So, she asked everyone to beat all that out of me. So, 'thanks to her,' I gained the reputation of being a spoiled brat deserving to be beaten up to death. And the truth never came out. No one would choose to act lazily while they are full of energy. No one would forget to bury the dead if they were mentally sane enough and physically capable of doing so. All sins are forms of weakness, illness and deficiencies that could not be helped. That's why Jesus died for everyone, not only the 'goody two-shoes'. Humans' ignorance turns the 'goody two-shoes' into judgmental whips to whip others who didn't have it as easy as they did. So, please stop perpetuating condemnation. There is no sin called sloth. There are mental and physical conditions that could describe someone known to display that behaviour. Yuppie flu, or what is nowadays known to be Chronic fatigue syndrome, is one of them. There are also vitamin deficiencies, depression, hormonal dysfunction, dysfunction in the brain chemistry, and so on and so forth. Please know that for someone with ADHD, sitting even for a short time is a punishment. For someone with CFS, combing their long hair is a chore. You don't have to live another life and go through all that to understand and sympathise. Try to do so now, before you depart.

So one builds the own routine and habits. What's a good reference for this? It can feel sometimes as reactionary life.

@HypnoticrisI really needed this
@justforrfunnn✨️👍🏻✨️🙏👼🙏🌷
@akichang7481.Dont compare yourself to others, only to God
2.) Develop small habits that falicitate virtue.
3.) Confess.
I'm glad I came across this video. Laziness is an evil that remains under the radar. Thanks for the three suggestions.. I need to exercise them in my life.
@GES-411This has very little to to with sloth.
@christofeles63It sounds like fr pine is talking moreso about acedia. However, sloth and acedia are basically the same thing
@FissileThomistHello, I would like to have more practical advice - I already go you confession frequently. I live alone in foreign country, I don't have family and friends here but back home. I am working as flight attend, it's very hard to keep a routine for me.
What exactly should I practice to overcome laziness?
I feel lonely sometimes, want to become saint but don't know how. I have a mission from God to heal souls but I don't know in what particular way.
I want to accomplish what I am born to do.
My only interest is in spiritual life, practical things are somewhat painful, they are meaningless to me, I have no interest in them, but I push myself to do it. However sometimes I spend all day on YouTube videos. I understand that it has no point but what should I do.
I'm too lazy to watch this video.
@youtubecommenter2sloth is depression
@KarmicSaltJesus is Lord Amen
@anthonyp3066Don’t compare
Don’t expect too fast
Be kind to yourself
Tomo Fujita has it down….minus the confession.
i think it was Kierkegaard who said "the saint is that person who remains focused on one thing". obviously this is referring to God. and it pairs really well with "the saint becomes themself".
my takeaway is that by focusing on God, the one Being, we are also participating in Being. and the only way to be, is to be Good. so everything that takes from our focus on God, also takes from our ability to be. and that is sloth: the refusal to be.
Thank you for this message Father Pine ❤
@alleyzipzero1Thank you.
@jeanneh6361Sloth vs. major depression is a difficult one.
@pyrovaniaThank you. Thank you. Thank you. Ba-boom! God bless.
@fennycruz6714Well said Fr. 😃🙏🏼 I have always been the person that has been Confronted with obstacles or things out of my grasp and thought and worked for a way to achieve them then recently I feel like I can’t reach things at all anymore. Like I’m climbing up a mountain with a huge bolder on my back and nothing I do is good enough. I see my cousins archive things during this pandemic and world crisis and I just can’t seem to pull myself out of this depression? like I’ll never achieve anything ever again and it just depresses me more. Thank you for reminding me to keep going. To getting closer to God and his wishes for my life but also to keep striving for my dreams no matter how dire things look right now. Little things can be big achievements too. 🥰 thank you again Fr.
@roseg1333What’s up Father Michael

@liliarosales1961Get a job as a Warehouse men or Materials handler, oLocal delivery driver or any building trade.
I have worked "Manuel labors jobs until I qualified for Social Security benefits.
I have been working since 1969 . With the exception of my time in the military for Vietnam. I been a very clock puncher. Now I enjoy my naps walks with my companion animals . I really appreciate appreciate when professional academic 's / clergy harp on laziness.
Thank you, this is helpful. Every case is individual, of course, so the way it manifests will vary. Some of us have so much on our plates that sloth intrudes in the off time. I'm not talking about things we chose to do, but actual family duties. The obligations might be fulfilled, but anything beyond that is neglected, leading to spiritual stagnation. But it's helpful to know that there is a safeguard to keep from falling into despair. As always, 3 Hail Marys for you, Father 🌹🌹🌹🙏🏻
@kimfleuryI second a comment made by another person about differentiating between psychological depression and sloth. Is there a difference? If so, are you still committing the sin of sloth if you've been diagnosed with clinical depression? This is very confusing, and it also overlaps with Ignatian teaching on spiritual desolation. Is it a bad spirit of sloth that I have to somehow find the strength to reject, or a bonifide genetic illness like depression for which I have zero strength to fight at times?
@Goretti8201Sloths used to be 10 ft tall with fangs and winter fur to survive North America winters. Let’s try to be more like those
@verntweld51Does anyone know if Father Pine has an email address that is public? I don't expect him to write back but I'd love to write him a thank you email for the ways he has blessed me. Thanks if anyone knows. :)
@SelahsmumFather, I really needed this talk. It has been immensely helpful, thank you.
@SelahsmumWhy doesn't the Roman Catholic Church speak against sex pervertion a well known practice of the Roman Catholic.
@rodgerdoucette2841Archbishop Scicluna and Bishop Grech published a heretical interpretation of Amoris Laetitia in L'Osservatore Romano, but the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith did nothing about it. Do you think this is a prime example of sloth?
@David-Porthouse4:05 the saint whom you are meant to be ... complement of predicate would normally take a nominative, not an accusative / dative?
@hglundahlThis is a tricky one for me. I hate my job currently and I can't stand it. I spend most of my day praying and watching clips on spirituality, religion etc. I know technically I am stealing from my boss but I feel so enriched following these fantastic clips on doctrine, faith, prayer.
@JJ-io6clFrequent confession led me to despair, so there goes that one.
@leoncaruthersPraise God. This 7 seconds actually massively helped me in understanding so much about my life and my relationship to God and where I need to pray. I always wondered about such things, but growing up protestant lacks sooo much clarity on so much of my base experience. God is the only answer to all our pain and suffering and Catholicism is the means to understanding and growing in that relationship with God according to how everyone needs, not just a particular kind of person who is apparently superior (as protestant communities often act so often)...
@criticalbruvThat was awesome. Thanks!
@alexdingle7877Thank You Fr Gregory. What sound advice with clear definitions and to the point. Praise God
@veronicamacgreevy6532Thank you, Father! This was helpful 🙂
