The Top Ten Most UNDERRATED Horror Movies of All Time | My List

Nice to see A Nightmare on Elm St. 5 here. Alice is one of my absolute favourite final girls, and I love her character arc. Same for her dad. Yeah, the humour is corny and it’s rough, but you’re right about what it has to say about some serious topics.

Also love for The Thing prequel, and Dead Silence (scared me so bad the first time I watched it). And the cinematography and pool scene in The Strangers Prey at Night is fantastic.

I also agree with others in the comments who said Ghost Ship was underrated. That opening, which is unbelievably good, leaches the rest of the film with a steep hill to climb. And that is probably why there’s hate for Ghost Ship. But it’s still a fun ride with some startling kills.

Dead Silence is an awesome horror movie. I can't believe the review scores are so low. I grew up in the 1990's and remember watching one of the Pumpkinhead movies but only because Ami Dolenz is in the movie. I had a crush on her in my youth after watching a movie called Miracle Beach. She is the daughter of Mickey Dolenz from the band The Monkees.

I'm sooooooo glad you included Dead Silence! I never seen anybody mentioning this movie. I love it. I didn't like The Strangers Prey At Night the first time I watched it. But I've watched it a couple of times since and love it. Haunt (2019) is totally underrated too

My most underrated horror movie that was actually horrifying but I love watching it is Session 9, and literally no one I’ve talked to has ever even heard of it and it’s SO GOOD. Some absolutely messed up things happen in it, and it’s kind of a slow build to act 3, but I WISH more people would see it so I can talk about it with them. I love, love, love that movie. It’s one of my top faves.

A ton of people hated nightmare 2. Yea the main lead and the director were queer. So what it broke one part of the lore.

I never hear anything about White Noise (2005) with Michael Keaton. Been a long time since I've seen it but I remember it being creepy and unsettling.

Oh Dead Silence is really fun.
And heavily agree on Strangers Prey at night although I did like the family in that one.
Mostly because I like how the first two strangers movies have them go for people at low points in their lives.

Don’t know if it counts as Underrated but I’d like to put Malignant up there considering it’s bonkers and funny as heck.

Also little monsters with Lupita N’yongo. That movie was very fun although I’m now disturbed at when a school photo has been moved in a house.

Sea fever, the void, the endless, prince of darkeness is under the radar for carpenter fans, cant think of any more ATM, autopsy of jane doe under the radar? thats one everyone should watch if you like good storytelling and horror.

I need to rewatch prey at night, watched it when it first came out an was very disappointed. If I had to guess with the faint memory I have of it, it wasn’t bad the first one is just legendary…. It was destined to fail tbh

Pool scene in strangers 2 made the movie for me.

Strangers: Prey at Night and Dead Silence totally rule. The twist in Dead Silence blew my mind. As for Prey at Night, it’s baffling that Johannes Roberts made something that good and then Welcome to Raccoon City.

Prey at Night is by far my favorite Strangers movie. Pumpkinhead is in my top 5.

1. Chopping Mall (this movie is more fun everytime I watch it)
2. Pumpkinhead 2 Blood Wings (even less people know theres a sequel that’s just as good as the original)
3. The Hills Run Red (fuck this movie gets mean in the best way)
4. Jeepers Creepers (I know this is a loved movie by some but it’s a legitimately perfect movie in my opinion)
5. Rest Stop (one of the grittiest slashers of the early 2000s most people have never heard of)
6. Pumpkin Carver (this movie has some impeccable Halloween vibes it’s an annual watch for me)
7. Strange Harvest (this movie came out last year and it’s one of the best mockumentary horror movies ever made I do not know how it’s not a bigger deal, no one saw it)
8. Traumatika (this movie is like four different subgenres rolled into one scary two hour long wtf moment but in a good way
9. Christmas Evil (best Christmas horror movie of all time. If you like SNDN 5 you love this)
10. Fear Street 1994 (this was released on Netflix and I don’t think it was on many people’s radar but as a lover of 90s teen slashers this hit the nail on the head for me, one of my favorites in the last 10 years

I unashamedly love Ghost Ship, and always have felt like it deserved more love. I would have killed for a sequel.

Two horror films that I love that I hear hardly anyone talk about are 1980's "Fade to Black," and 1987's "Stage Fright."
While "Fade to Black" is a flawed film, the concept of a killer who evokes classic movie deaths is a darn good premise, and it was a very fun watch.
"Stage Fright" did a great job establishing the space which the characters would move through, which was used to great effect in upping the tension as the movie went along, and the killer's owl costume is just so creepy.

Great top 3! We need a Dead silence 2, I love that movie. Although I haven't seen it in a long time I plan to rewatch after Hereditary. (I saw you recommended this in another video)

I'm the kind of person who finds it hard to be annoyed if a studios want to make a remake, a sequel or even a prequel to movies I love.
I don't read too much into things so if I love or enjoy a film then why would I not want to be able to see more.
So when they announced they were making a prequel to the Thing, I was so excited.
It was released whilst I was on holiday in LA so we went to watch it in the Chinese theatre and I Love it!!
The cgi was not great but hey, I was able to look past that.

Ah! Dead silence is awesome! I could add 'The Void', amazing cosmic horror with hellraiser vibes, 'Bad taste' (Peter Jackson) and of course the whole 'Phantasm" franchise, it deserves more attention.

IMO, The House Where Evil Dwells and Reeker are 2 movies that are most definitely under-rated. If you haven't seen them, by all means do so.

The Terrifier is not scary it is gore for the sake of gore. Way overrated.
