The US-Canada border splits this road down the middle

Video Overview & Insights

Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

I cannot thank Mayor Dutil enough -- he spent two hours giving me a tour of Stanstead and the border, and this video wouldn't look half as good without all his help. He also talked to border control when they arrived and asked why I was filming...!

This is exactly why I will never take immigration seriously.

Complete idiocy, human race evolving backwards.

The American side not having a sidewalk says a lot about that country lmao

Yet 2 motorcycles cross the center line right at the beginning.

They should just declare that certain parts are owned by both Canada and America and you can access these “shared” territories from either side, so for example the entirety of the road itself would be shared territory, but the houses would belong fully to the corresponding side. And you only need to go through customs if you go past the shared territories. Police forces from both countries would have jurisdiction there, but only to the people that belong to the same corresponding side as the officer

What happens if someone’s pet crosses?

IF I cross into canada and they arrest me I hope they keep me there. I mean what are they going to do send me back to the U.S. ? It's a win-win

WTH? Another imaginary line? I thought the demilitarized zone of North & South Korea was bad....Humans definitely are definitely disconnected on how to live!

What about the two motorcycle riders? They crossed it.

When you legit say you took a dump so big they can smell across international borders

I presume a U-Turn is not legal. If you realize you driving the wrong way, I guess you will have to find another way back if you cannot do a U-Turn. If your neighbor across the road invites you for coffee, you will have to find another way to reach your neighbor!

We need borders and we need nations but I think things like this can be kind of sad. It would be amazing to live in a world where everyone respected everyone else and we could cross country borders, visit, and then return back home to our nation and no one second-thought it. But in the world we live in, it seems like every nation is out to get the other and there are bad people out there who would want to do people a lot of harm and so I think something like this is kind of necessary.

I would purchase a house on either side of the border, then build a tunnel to link them.

Those guys on those motorcycles made a left out of Canada and headed down the US border... WTF???

@stanleybarker6207

If you check out a satellite map, you will find a section of the border where houses are entirely on one side while their driveways cross the border to a street entirely on the opposite side. Places like this, they should just make it an international zone like at an airport and keep their customs sheds outside of town.

Me: “Let’s dig a hole to Canada”
Bro: “Ok, just gotta dig under this road…”😂

@dillthecreeper

I get it but it's rediculous. To think you can't even cross the street. This happened after 9/11 but seriously do you think a strip down the street is securing the boarder?

0:45 he's american american. All Canadians are american but not all Americans are Canadians. Also all mexicans are american but not all Americans are mexican.

Once, when our doggie was pressing in Belgium, but the poo felt on German ground, I was pondering "Hmm, in which country I have to pay the fine, because I didn't pick it up?"

This is weird. What's the point of having border stations if anyone can just walk across the border and most likely not be noticed?

@nickislade5533

Yea, I would do it and then if they chased me just run back across the road. What a stupid law and rule.
